Maybe it’s bad to say, but I will not feel one shred of sympathy for anyone who voted Trump or a third party candidate if they face some sort of hardship because of this. My sympathy goes only to people who voted the way they should have and the people who live here but were unable to vote and the people in other countries who’ll be harmed by whatever shit he gets us up to.
If I know you voted for Trump or a third party candidate or chose not to vote, don’t ever fucking come to me for sympathy if you lose your job, health insurance or your house or you can’t afford birth control. Because you will not just get my indifference. You will get my contempt.
You know, back when Trump was considered a joke candidate who would sooner or later drop out of the republican primaries, I considered running a political blog for the sole purpose of writing about things as if Trump didn’t exist. Maybe throw in passing references to a clown now and then. Once he became the Republican front runner, I wondered that if I *had* written such a blog, how far I would have taken the joke. Would I have said “astoundingly, voters declined to elect a president for the first time ever” in the unlikely he got that far?
At the time, I just thought that he was merely supremely incompetent, rather than someone who would potentially nuke, say, Bolivia (to pick a country at random) over a petty social snub or something equally trivial.
Desperate, rambling thoughts:
The media predicted a guaranteed Clinton Landslide.
This made too many on the Left complacent, and not enough voted. It also set a fire beneath the Trumpies, and consequently they flooded the polls.
I hope, hope HOPE that in a week (or less?) we will discover that Trump’s BFF, Putin, rigged the votes, and then we can elect our REAL President, HRC.
Trump made tons of promises, most notably that he alone knew much, much more about the military than our own Colonels and Admirals, etc. He said he would cure all of our military ills IF he was elected… can he just call in sick? I doubt like f*ck he knows his orange ass from his orange elbow, let alone would he know shit about complex issues.
His Trumpjungen are going to be insufferable. I actually might fear his fanboys more than I fear Trump. I have heard soooo many fire engine sirens in the last four hours and I fear this may be the new norm.
I don’t use any substances except for caffeine… and I so desperately need alcohol to blunt this shock and betrayal.
Perhaps it’s the conspiracy theorist in me, but why did Hillary Clinton cancel her planned fireworks display yesterday, the day before the election?
I wonder where I can go, or how far I can go on a small $10,000. That off-grid commune sounds excellent right about now, y’all.
…I mean, not to minimize the racism and sexism and so in, but that’s not exactly abnormal for republicans. Some of them are just as extreme as him, they just aren’t as blatant.
@varalys the dark: I wonder if we should start a de-cede party over here? Would you take us prodigals back? We are very frightened and alone and could spell “grey” properly if we really tried, and washing machines in the kitchen are a wonderful thing.
Dear America
You can stop now. This isn’t funny any more.
Sincerely
The rest of the world
@everyone, but especially US mammotheers,
Please stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones. As so many here have already said, there’s little we can do from overseas (right now, anyway) except send massive amounts of hugs and love and support.
This is heartbreaking.
so is it officially over now or is there still a chance of a 11th hour victory ?
What the flipping hell is wrong with (so many) people? Society and attitudes are supposed to progress not regress. I hope everyone stays safe!
*Hugs* to anyone who wants them. I have to head to bed, it’s past 2am here.
It appears that the “Crooked Hillary” narrative was largely successful. Barring a miracle, Donald J Trump will become the forty-fifth President of the United States. What’s most distressing is how narrowly he’s won. In Pennsylvania by 60 000 votes; in Wisconsin by less than 90 000 votes; in Michigan by 72 000 votes.
White Devil’s Dream by Quasi was my favorite protest song of the George W Bush era.
https://youtu.be/96KUYsaFVQA
Listening to it now makes me feel nostalgic partially because I thought it was bad then, but it was nothing compared to what a Trump administration (regime?) might look like. But partially because I remember my righteous fury from those days. We’re going to need righteous fury in the coming years I think. Maybe Quasi will update the song now.
Obama looks kind of silly on that (used to be so awesome) Jimmy Kimmel mean tweets segment.
I hate life so much right now.
*huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs*
Sorry, I wish I had more. :/
Well, it seems it’s still 215 v 244 for Trump.
My dad is watching Fox News, I think. They’re talking about Democrats or something, IDK.
I hope my mom and dad enjoy what they’ve done.
If worst comes to worst, I just hope I don’t need a passport to get asylum because I don’t have one. I also hope my niece, nephew and cousins come out of this okay.
@Troubelle
I know a bit of that feeling. I’m trying not to think about it.
@EJ
You’re right we shouldn’t fight each other, not now of all times.
@Dalillama
I don’t want to see you harmed because of this. You know, if this is how the world ends, in nuclear hellfire as the dusk of man and kindess settles below the horizon, at least I take comfort in the knowledge of meeting all of you. I’m sorry, I’m sorry that I can’t say enough sorries for what happened. You deserve better than this, you deserved something a million times better than this.
@Axe
*hugs*, I would try to cheer things up with some of my pics, but, I feel that couldn’t be more insulting.
@Scildfreja Unnýðnes
*hugs* Maybe now I’ll go give MLP a watch. Something that bright would help. You’re right, we should continue marching on. Make them work for every inch of hope and rights they wish to strip like vultures on carrion.
@weirwoodtreehugger: communist bonobo
When I first started on this forum, we went on bad terms mostly because of me. I want to say sorry for how I acted. Had I known what was to come I wouldn’t even dream of saying the things I said to you. I have no love for the Trump Supporters. They want everyone here and beyond this forum to suffer painfully, so much that even when Trump is finally gone the scars become too much. My racist Viet friend is probably giggling in happiness, the irony is that if he was in Russia he’d get beaten to hell and Putin would turn a blind eye.
@ Laugher at Bigots
Had literally any of the damn swing states changed their mind and voted for Hillary we could have been safe and free. If you gave me one consequence free wish, I wish Hillary to win, or for Trump to do a complete 180. Who knows maybe he’ll even step down as president as the burdens of the office become too much even with how much he’d delegate away.
I have been up all night watching the elections. I so desperately want to say something that would make this more bearable for those of you who will be affected by this, but… I just don’t know.
I’m so sorry you have to go through this. If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know (activism, whatever). I still have hope because there’s people like you in America, because while the Trumpists may be the majority now, there’s still so many of you, so many good and caring people. It just breaks my heart that some of you have to fear for their basic rights now.
Someone on TV just said that it was America who brought us freedom and human rights after WWII. And now they seem in danger in America itself.
Please everyone stay safe. I wish I could hug and comfort those of you who said they were crying or afraid right now.
I hear helicopters, which means one thing in my neighborhood: demonstrations in the Castro, the world-famous gay San Francisco neighborhood.
It’s starting already.
I see nothing in the news, but I can tell that the pushback against a fascist is starting.
Everybody, stay strong. Stay safe. If we have to, we’ll make it through Donald Trump.

have something.
People want the establishment gone, they’ll get it, our way.
Also, around 20-25 minutes ago I talked to my mother. She thinks it’s all fake, the media is trying to make as big of a nail-biter drama as possible, and tomorrow we’ll see the real results where Hillary has a “miraculous” reversal and wins nearly every state. If it doesn’t turn out that there was massive voter fraud in Trump’s favor, then she’s in for a shock.
@Aunt Podger: I’m not sure about rejoining the British Empire; they have their own regrettably influential fascists. Would Canada annex us, please?
I want to wake up from this nightmare.
Let there be revolution.
@Victorious Parasol
I wish we were all dreaming, and any minute we’d wake up and go about our lives.
<3 @OoglyBoggles, Jack, everyone. That's a good idea, Ooglyboogly, I may do that too.
We're all going to have to get active politically, everyone. There's a fascist in the White House, and he's got a Senate and House that's going to be happy to use him to fulfill their right-wing dreams. That means activism and rallies, that means writing letters and making phone calls. Choke their mail-boxes with letters, make them hire a bank of secretaries to handle the complaints. I don't know if there's an alternative to that at this point.
It’s telling that “Trump won more counties where less than 10% of adults had bachelor degrees” — 80.7%, as opposed to Clinton’s 19.3%. And “Clinton won more counties where at least 45% of the population was black” — 85.7%, compared with Trump’s 14.3%.
