She’s doing really poorly in the rust belt – Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin. She’s supposed to hold Wisconsin. That wasn’t supposed to swing. Michigan was risky, but Ohio’s so much like Michigan in concerns. Apparently Detroit itself is split. Blerrrgh.
She’s gonna win Virginia though! That helps! It’s still entirely up in the air. Ugh, tense.
@Axe
Hawaii’s results will come in around 8 PST, same as California, which I thought was the latest but it’s Alaska at 10 PST.
My parents and Grandma (as Axe knows) are Reps and also don’t like me swearing. That said, if this is called for Trump, I’m texting every one of them to say “We’re fucked.”
and remember when looking at electoral college vote counts. HRC has 78 guaranteed from WA/OR/CA/HI late.
@Jack
Ah, thanks! I assumed I missed something 🙂
Florida what the fuck, and for the other states that are seriously considering Trump, what the double fuck
These idiots think they had “economic insecurity” before, wait till the markets collapse and there ISN’T any fucking economy
Falconer, that’s how our voting is in NY. I voted for Hillary on the Working Families ticket, as well as most of the Dems that were on it. Hopefully people didn’t fill in multiple lines. The poll worker where I go always does a good job explaining the names appear more than once but just vote once per column. Plus, Trump and other Republicans were also on multiple tickets.
I honestly don’t fully understand it myself but Sam Seder seems to think it’s a good thing.
And i would like to salute, the Ashes of American flags/And all the falling leaves, filling up shopping bags.
@Ooglyboggles
There aren’t enough fucks in the world.
Or, to get real nerdy on you, “There is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of Men for this treachery.”
@booburry: Thanks for explaining that! I was worried it was another troll, although I couldn’t spot the angle.
Is it perhaps meant to organize candidates into slates based on their positions on the issues?
I am so upset and disappointing in this country right now. I feel miserable and not sure if I even want to go to bed now because of how I may have to start the morning.
It’s so depressing, I feel like we’ve timewarped decades and watched all the progress this country has made dissolve into a cesspool.
God, I need a miracle.
And Chocolate.
@Axe
No problem, dude.
No…problem…dude…
We have problems, dude.
I need a drink and a carton of cigarettes. I should have bought some when I had the chance yesterday. I’ve been meaning to try whiskey and it seems tonight would have been perfect for that.
Make me feel worst probably, but still perfect.
@Spark
middle type logical fallacy were if you call a jerk a jerk than you’re the jerk, so you can’t call them racist because that’s mean
Big sigh.
Hang in there, everyone!
Lurker de-lurking here.
So Trump is only leading because the blue states haven’t been called yet right?
Right?
I’m pretty apathetic when it comes to politics in my own country but this US election is really having me worried. I think I really need to get more involved with the next Canadian election.
@Jesalin
Oh my god do I get that. I had two discussions in the past few days where someone was like “I was totally on the one person’s side, until they said ‘Fuck white people’, or ‘Men are stupid’.”
And I’m like COME ON people were arguing about Trump! Why does the ‘good’ side always have to ‘turn the other cheek’ and all that bullshit? Why can’t reasonable people get angry??
edited to add: Me too, Fabe. Me too.
You are all invited to Brazil. That´s all I have to say atm.
@Fabe, yeah! The last federal election we had up here was super exciting to follow, and really important obviously. I hope you follow the next one!
I tried to look it up before I voted. Near as I can tell it’s supposed to tell the people which groups are providing them support/voters so they help get their issues addressed. I’m honestly not sure. I looked up and saw that Bernie said “Working Families is as close to my vision of Democratic Socialism as it gets” or some such and made sure to (jokingly)shame my former Berniebro partner for voting Dem down ballot rather than WF, even though it was all the same people more or less.
Jaeger is suddenly more tolerable.
EDIT: No, it’s not.
I voted today. This election has made me sad. I suppose I am naïve, but I really thought we were better than someone like Donald Trump. I thought we had come farther. I was wrong. Trump’s racist, sexist, misogynistic, ableist, elitist, xenophobic, lying, ass just might become our next President. His horrible rhetoric resonated with so many voters that this race is, at the moment, too close to call. To me, that is horrifying. This man was endorsed by the KKK because he embraces their values. Just think about that for a minute. The fucking KKK says this man reflects the values of one of the most racist organizations in our nation. And people are proud of this. They are happily waving their “racist” card, glad that they no longer have to hide it, because somehow it has become acceptable again. I am so worried. I am worried about my friends who happen to people of color, or who are Muslim, or LGBT folks, or women (like me). I worry about what this mess is going leave my children and my grandchildren. If this is truly what America is now, I don’t know if I want to be here anymore, and that makes me sad because I love my country. I voted today.
So, how’s Canada? Better than the U.S.? I live within six hours of the Canadian border, and I might have to move. How’s housing? How’s immigration? How’s the exchange rate with U.S. dollars? How’s the metric system? How’s the bilingualism? What do most Canadians think of American immigrants?
