Three days left, and the Final Countdown Video Party is overrun by tubas and pugs

We’re only three days away from the big day. Probably a good idea to turn off the news and play videogames, or watch creepy old episodes of Space 1999 or something.

Today’s Final Countdown cover isn’t the worst cover I’ve ever heard, but it’s definitely the one with the most tubas.

The bonus video today involves three layers of pug.

If Trump wins, I’m going to scream, get wasted on schnapps or dessert wine, and watch cartoons all day.

That’s what I want to do anyway. Art school probably has other plans. :U

This is taking a toll on me as a queer student. I don’t know how I won’t shut down constantly over his victory. I cried over Trump’s environmental policy (or lack thereof) last night.

There is a brand called “Post” that makes an amazing grape juice.

Personally I’m a rum person so I’ll probably celebrate with some spiced rum+soda.

*pops head up* Did somebody say Animal Crossing?

I’ve gone back to my old town – the game automatically weeded it after the update, which was an awesome surprise, but it’s been completely overrun by flowers in return. Day Of The fucking Triffids.

Either way, holy flying shit on a shingle, this update kicks all the ass. DAT SPLATOON CROSSOVER. *fansqueals* Forget chickens and elephants, my town’s going to be packed with Inklings.

I’m now seeing in comments on news sites people declaring that a vote for Hillary is a vote for war with Russia. Where did that come from?

Tovius

@Snowberry

If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say it came from Russia.

@Snowberry
Thats been going on for a while,
basically Trump wants the US to pull out of NATO and become a Russian vassal state,
now because Trump is never wrong (citation needed) that means not doing that will lead to a war with Russia.

Honestly I’m more concerned with Trump nuking Mexico or something over a tweet then I am Clinton starting a war with Russia over wikileaks.

@Tovius
Good chance of it,
they are paying people to troll.

@Ray of Rays, @Axecalibear: whenever I see the Lantern oaths, there is some part of me that insists upon singing them to the tune of “the Threaten’d Cloud Has Passed Away,” from the Mikado. Sometimes my brain makes me happy, sometimes it makes me sad.

….Oh-kay, that’s weird. I was aware of Trump wanting to pull out of NATO, but not any of those other things. I really shouldn’t be surprised by anything at this point…

Re Clinton and war with Russia – it’s become a common claim here in Aust. among those lefties who hate Clinton and still yearn for Sanders. Not at all suggesting that it originated here but it’s certainly taken root. And whenever they tweet about it, they get piles of approving trumplings in their comments…

I plan on breaking out the vodka in the freezer and if things get too tense, maybe cut my hair. I wish I could relax about this election, it seems like the stakes get higher with every presidential election, maybe i’m just getting older.

In other news, a neighbor brought us a teeny tiny kitten on Halloween, she loves snuggling and is getting a handle on solid food so she should find a forever home with no trouble. We don’t know most of our neighbors, but I guess they’ve figured out that we’re a house of old cat ladies.

I think I very well needed this article, I apologize if this has already been posted before.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/nate-silver-election-forecast_us_581e1c33e4b0d9ce6fbc6f7f

As far as I know from reading the article is makes alot of sense why Nate Silver’s model is currently like it is and why there is so much discrepancy between forecast models.

@ Ooglyboggles: I googled “dogs doing pawstands” and I found this:

That’s Jiff, apparently. Jiff is a Pomeranian who holds the Guinness world record for fastest two-legged running, or something, I’m not sure. Jiff has its own webpage (fanpage?) called jiffpom.com. At least that’s where I found the picture. Not relevant to your (or anyone else’s) interests, but it made me smile, so maybe it’ll make you smile, too?

(Jiff also has swag. Adorable swag.)

JoeB:

Update: Per ABC and CNN there was a report of a gun in the crowd causing Trump to be taken off the stage. No weapon was found.

That was in response to a protester holding up a “Republicans against Trump” sign. He was beaten up by the mob.

@PolicyofMadness – I have seen some recent research on that – backing up your claim – though men are more often wrong about their wives voting intentions than the other way round. But I can’t quickly find the article.

Although I did find this disgusting piece while I was looking…blech…

I’ve had good luck using apple cider as a mix (real cider with alcohol produced from fermentation, not added to apple juice, blech)

I couldn’t read that drivel. I couldn’t get past this line:

This doesn’t apply to single adult women, as they have no head of their own home, and many are out in our workforces and living on their own.

So even if I’m a single woman (and I guess lesbians and non-binary peeps don’t exist in her world, since she only talks about wives and their husbands), I can’t be the head of my own household. Back when I was the only breadwinner and I was the one paying the bills and mortgage while my (male) partner stayed home, I’m guessing I wasn’t the head of the household then, either. Because I’m a lowly woman.

This is why I did like religion so much. This woman is arguing that because a bunch of men wrote some words down that they claim came from a deity we should all just comply with their rules and never question it.

Bingo!

Also, “lowly woman” is clearly redundant, because if you weren’t lowly you wouldn’t be a woman, you’d be a whore, or something. I’m pretty certain that’s how it works.

This is why I did like religion so much. This woman is arguing that because a bunch of men wrote some words down that they claim came from a deity we should all just comply with their rules and never question it.

Now, I’m not one to defend religion, but the desire to enforce patriarchal norms on a society may be correlated with religion but the world is also full of atheist and agnostic misogynists, many of whom regularly star on this blog. They also want you to comply with their rules and never question anything. Even if you poofed all religions out of existence tomorrow, the shitty attitudes would remain, just with a new fig-leaf to excuse them (evopsych, anyone?).
