Red Jerry on comic book “feminests” — the greatest bizarre email of all time (this week)?

flounder2
Fan mail from some flounder?

Into each inbox some bizarre emails must fall.

Yesterday, it was apparently Rian Sygh and his email inbox’s turn. Sygh, an illustrator and comics artist, found himself the recipient of one of the most entertainingly bizarre proposals I’ve ever seen, from a self-professed “ally” called Red Jerry with some advice on how

you may continue pursuing yourself [???] in a manner advantageous to your self-purported goal of “becoming a cool comics guy :sunglasses emoji: (Twitter, Aug 2016)”.

As you can see, Mr. Jerry’s literary pretensions exceed his literary capabilities.

The tl:dr of the advice is that Sygh should stop “pandering” to the “feminest [sic], or colloquially known as ‘SJW’, crowd” and start producing some good old-fashioned red meat comics with the help of … the writer of the proposal.

But this is one wall-o-text it’s worth reading in full. It’s glorious.

Sorry to interrupt, but I just love love love the bit about “the yells of cuckold men and fat women.”

OTHERWISE KNOWN AS “FRIDAY NIGHT” AMIRITE FELLOW CUCKS AND FATTIES?

And of course he’s got a vaguely Pepe-looking little frog in his sig and one of those (((echo))) thingies. Unless Red Jerry is literally a Jewish frog, which seems unlikely, I’m guessing he’s one of those chan-dwelling alt-right anime Nazi Trump fans.

Oh, I’m pretty sure Jerry is real. It’s been that kind of year.

And in case you’ve had the phrase “fan mail from some flounder” going through your head the whole time as you read this post, here you go:

Bug of course it’s only reasonable to restrict the vote to white landowning males…

Yes, see, because it doesn’t affect them, they can apply the full force of their manly logic to problems. This allows them to dispassionately discuss whether it’s better to motivate workers with floggings or debtor’s prison, or exactly how close women and black people are to being real humans, or other such lofty topics. /s

In another thread recently, I was going on about the problems of drawing (almost) all our high government officials from Ivy League institutions, and this discussion illustrates what the biggest problem is: They’ve never in their lives been in a situation remotely comparable, and have no understanding of what it’s like, so thier porposed solutions are useless or worse, because they don’t address the actual problems, only an outsider’s conception of what problems other people might reasonably (in their opinion) face.

Why do those people get triggered so easily? They’re constantly going on about people getting “triggered” but whenever you so much as post something like “Well, maybe rape isn’t funny/FMG is horrible/anything that sounds relatively sane”, they go ballistic and call you an “EssJayDoubleyou”.

I just had a guy blow up on my Facebook page because I told him to stop calling my friends the c-word. Oh, the triggering. The silencing. The freedom of speech denied.

I didn’t even block him or anything! I kept him on because the meltdown was hilarious.

@Dalillama,

Exactly. And because it takes a huge investment of time and energy to even have a crack at running for office, that skews in itself overwhelmingly in favour of those more likely to have time and energy available and not already going just on food and rent. The UK Parliament is unsurprisingly dominated by the privately educated, “well-connected”, privileged and wealthy. One of the initiatives of Corbyn’s Labour Party is to set up some kind of scheme of bursaries/experience/practical and financial support specifically for working class and/or poor individuals who aim to become MPs, to help level that hurdle somewhat and try to get more people into Parliament who actually have some idea of what it is like to face the problems that their constituents face.

Hello.

So, basically, it is like a Pick-Up Artist trying to pick-up an artist… Such mise en abyme

To note : it may be funny (or not, i am not really good at that) to consider that it may be a rather straight writting of “Red Jelly” (some “anime-fans” think it is better to keep the ‘r’ in place of what could reasonably be a ‘l’), generaly among the first monsters in Japanese RPG, which are also, by consequence, very weak. But of course, a pillar of the [comic] community can not be weak…

Have a nice day.

This lurker spends about 4-5 months a year out of state for military spouse reasons, but keeps her residence and job in her home state without ever becoming a resident or owing taxes in the military state (and in fact, I believe a recent federal law protects my state of residence, even if I spent more than half a year out of state).

I’m still legally a resident of the state I vote in, and I could plausibly miss a letter like this, depending on how vigilant the post office was feeling about forwarding that month – sometimes it’s really fast, sometimes I suddenly get a month’s worth of random mail.

Not to mention kids in college whose parents don’t open their mail, people in abusive relationships, and people who ignore, accidentally throw away, or forget about the letter. That law just sucks.
