Into each inbox some bizarre emails must fall.
Yesterday, it was apparently Rian Sygh and his email inbox’s turn. Sygh, an illustrator and comics artist, found himself the recipient of one of the most entertainingly bizarre proposals I’ve ever seen, from a self-professed “ally” called Red Jerry with some advice on how
you may continue pursuing yourself [???] in a manner advantageous to your self-purported goal of “becoming a cool comics guy :sunglasses emoji: (Twitter, Aug 2016)”.
As you can see, Mr. Jerry’s literary pretensions exceed his literary capabilities.
The tl:dr of the advice is that Sygh should stop “pandering” to the “feminest [sic], or colloquially known as ‘SJW’, crowd” and start producing some good old-fashioned red meat comics with the help of … the writer of the proposal.
But this is one wall-o-text it’s worth reading in full. It’s glorious.

Sorry to interrupt, but I just love love love the bit about “the yells of cuckold men and fat women.”
OTHERWISE KNOWN AS “FRIDAY NIGHT” AMIRITE FELLOW CUCKS AND FATTIES?

And of course he’s got a vaguely Pepe-looking little frog in his sig and one of those (((echo))) thingies. Unless Red Jerry is literally a Jewish frog, which seems unlikely, I’m guessing he’s one of those chan-dwelling alt-right anime Nazi Trump fans.

Oh, I’m pretty sure Jerry is real. It’s been that kind of year.
And in case you’ve had the phrase “fan mail from some flounder” going through your head the whole time as you read this post, here you go:
OT: Hey look, turns out voter fraud is real!
A Des Moines woman has been arrested on suspicion of voting twice this month.
This is apparently the cheating Hillary supporter in question:
Wait, no, that can’t be right!
@Moggie
Obviously it’s all part of a conspiracy and she’s a plant (some kind of giant rhododendron I think..).
@Moggie, meanwhile the republicans in North Carolina have been spending the past months doing everything they possibly can to get black voters stricken off the lists by calling their rights into question.
Apparently in NC it’s legal for citizens in NC to challenge the voting rights of other citizens, so republican jerks have been doing things like mass-mailing to every household in black-dominated areas with a mail that requests a reply, and then using every one that doesn’t get a reply as evidence that the person isn’t a valid citizen. Then it’s up to the person being challenged to present themselves and their evidence that they do live at that address.

@Scildfreja Unnýðnes
I think they’re getting desperate.
@Jesalin
Sorry not sorry. 😀
Negging is supposed to be subtle. This is anything but.
@Scildfreja:
For Katie’s sake. Seriously. This is one of those times when Adam de Gurowski looks like a reasonable man.
Disclaimer: which he was not, but still.
I’m a longtime lurker, and this is my favorite concern trolling email ever.

WOW,that law sounds like it was custom made to suppress the voting rights of minorities. when was it enacted?
I wonder… in this context, what does “pillar of the community” mean? Is it “Bitching on Reddit about feminezis taking over the medium gets me lots of upvotes”?
Or perhaps “My party trick is regurgitating superhero trivia to people who obviously want to be somewhere else”?
Or maybe even “I am a regular writer and reviewer of graphic novels for a widely respected source of comic book news, and I have published several of my own works to wide acclaim”?
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say it’s probably not that last one.
@ terrabeau
He probably means red-pillar of the community
I don’t know how old it is, @Fabe. It’s GS 163-85, as here:
http://www.ncleg.net/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/PDF/BySection/Chapter_163/GS_163-85.pdf
Old, I think, but it’s the past few elections that this has been happening. The reason it caught the news this time is because there have been so many challenges that the court is behind on processing them, and it’s within the 25-day legal limit to the election, so they don’t know what to do.
My googs search has discovered that there are right wing groups in NC that have been targeting this bill specifically because they think they’re stamping out voter fraud, instead of just being all-around terrible people.
https://www.nccivitas.org/2013/cases-show-how-easy-vote-fraud-is-in-nc/
In the first paragraph, the writer of this right-wing blog points to GS 163-85 as evidence that NC makes it too hard to challenge voters! Apparently the challenger having to
is just too restrictive! The jerkbutt also concludes that
– which of course ain’t true in the slightest, it just means that they may not be registered to live at the address. You know, like poor people who can’t afford to rent, or whose credit score is too low to get on a rental agreement or whatnot. I guess they aren’t real Americans!
Ugh. Humans.
After the last few days here, that was needed and appreciated. I just spent a happy half hour reading the replies to Sygh’s tweet, most of which are from people seriously injured from laughing too much. Except for this chap:
SINCERE, POLITE, AND CONSTRUCTIVE YOU HORRIBLE INGRATES
*snerk*
+1
@Scild
Back when I worked minimum wage I had to lie about my monthly income in order to split a 2-bedroom apartment with 2 other people. It’s not uncommon for people to not even be on a lease where they’re living.
I just discovered that Jack Barnes has been banned from Twitter. How many does that make now?
I has the mixed feels about this…
@Mish
Good news, in my opinion. I’ve reported him many times for his various threats and harassment campaigns.
“You may or may not realize that you have more recently blocked my main account in the heat of a disagreement- of which is no matter as I employ a series of distinct accounts to circumvent such petty annoyances.”
Translation: I am a troll who spams his shit from multiple accounts. And you will not get away with disagreeing with me, no sir!
“I am here as an ally…”
Yeah, right.
“So I feel as a pillar in the community it is my responsibility to give you the information necessary for you to steer your future choices in a way that might present you the highest chances of success.”
Channers and GamerGits have PILLARS, now? As opposed to mere PILLOCKS? Will wonders never cease???
“You are the fourth person today I will have contacted in an attempt to help as recent discourse is scaring fine creatives towards the inevitable trash-pit that is the recent swath of ‘progressive’ comics.”
Translation: You are the fourth comix-type person I have pestered today with my imaginary high intelligence and status, trying in vain to persuade them into going back to the Bad Old Days. Also, I’m kind of butthurt to have been ignored by the other three.
“The fad of the diverse children’s market will never be a stronghold in the Bigger PIcture market…”
You WISH, trolly.
“I do myself dabble in writing…”
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/210/119/9b3.png
Yeah, it’s kind of obvious. Dabbling, in pseudo-high-flown language, is all he can do, because if he had to enunciate what he means in plain English, everyone would right away recognize him as a racist, sexist, reactionary you-name-it-phobe. And that wouldn’t get him the respect he thinks he deserves, no sirree!
Also, he can’t spell echelon. The telltale mark of the dabbler, that is.
@IP, yep, I know what you mean. Did Fingie report him, too?
Getting kicked off Twitter doesn’t violate anyone’s frozen peaches – that’s not my problem with it. It’s the martyr status conferred by banning that gets me. It cements (for them) the notion that they’re dangerous truth-tellers, rather than the more mundane reality that they failed to comply with the terms and conditions of a company that they signed up to.
@kupo, I been there! I’ve lived in some absolute dives, and have had to make the choice between rent and food more than once. I have nothing but sympathy and understanding. It’s what makes my blood boil so much when I hear about these people calling the poor ‘fraudulent voters.’ Poor people have so much more practical wisdom in them, and so much more kindness. I’d side with them any day of the week, on any topic, but this really takes the cake.
Bug of course it’s only reasonable to restrict the vote to white landowning males…
e(super exaggerated jerk off motion.gif)
Why do those people get triggered so easily? They’re constantly going on about people getting “triggered” but whenever you so much as post something like “Well, maybe rape isn’t funny/FMG is horrible/anything that sounds relatively sane”, they go ballistic and call you an “EssJayDoubleyou”.
@ terrebeau
@ Alan Robertshaw
A pillock of the community?
And I hope it’s a wool carpet – makes pulling it from under your feet and over your eyes that much easier.
That’s the worst “come and work on my projects at my specifications for free” offer I think I’ve ever seen.
Another dramatic reading (I linked to my own further up) by Prof Bison, who does the whole email (so it includes the bit where Red invites Sygh to contribute free of charge to his blog and encourage others to do likewise.
