I’m opening this thread a bit early today because holy crap is there a lot to talk about.
In the meantime, I’m going to prepare for the debate by taking a nap.

She bought the garlic powder, dude.
Wikileaks is about two things – the source and the content. The source, Russian interference, is one topic, that’s all they talked about. And Hillary pretty much hit it on the head – we have to remember that they’re being brought up to give Trump more of an edge. And it’s foreign interference from an oligarchic monster. So, yeah. Awful.
But Podesta hasn’t come out and said that the emails weren’t real. So the content is worth looking at. Not that they prove how awful Hillary is – I’ve seen them, and they look like business-as-usual for federal government. But business-as-usual for federal government is shitty and corrupt, and I really, really, really want them to talk about that.
(they won’t, of course, because both parties and the media like the way the system works, and want to protect it, etc, etc.)
So, yeah. I have complicated feelings about that stuff.
@Troubelle
Garlic wins? Called it!
ummm….Hillary Clinton did not make the NAFTA
Ugh, yeah, this question. It’s loaded top-to-bottom with blaming-poor-people-for-being-poor. Fh. Good for Hillary in her answer, but even then. Twitch, twitch.
OHHH no, do not misunderstand, I said that poorly, I only meant she was losing my attention on that particular topic. I think it is important but not so important that she had to address it at this time or this in-depth. I just think those of us who are supporters already know, and those who aren’t won’t believe her anyway.
I am HRC all the way and I’ve been waiting to vote for her for 20+ years. I’ve always felt the only reason Bill ran instead of HRC is because there was no way she could win back then – look how difficult it is for her to be taken seriously even today, and how everyone is losing his mind over OMGAW A WOMAN PRESIDUNT NOOOOO!
@Scildfreja Unnýðnes
Same, I just feel bad because despite all these things whoch are good things, removing the plutocracy doesn’t seem to be worthy of discussion on both wings. I’m just hoping that after the GOP finishes its Trump trainwreck discussions of removing government corruptions wpuld be brought up.
@Axecalibur
I got the minced garlic for a round of chili for a cook-off last week. Didn’t win, but hey. I got the opportunity.
@dreemr, I watched a Sam Bee part in which she talked to Trump voters in Pennsylvania, and… wow. Yeah. Outright “a woman shouldn’t be president”. Not even mincing words. Made my skin crawl. One of them was a woman, even! The interviewer talked her into quite a corner, though, it was good :3
Trump to himself: ” i gotta keep playing with this mic so I don’t punch her in her face”
@Scildfreja
I hate to be a bother, but could I have a link to that Sam Bee segment?
“Mr. Trump, even I, a Fox shill, can’t deny that your economic plan is a disaster.”
@OoglyBoggles, I am pretty sure it’s because both parties, and the media that are deciding what we watch, are the plutocracy. And they’ve got active interest in us not even thinking about things like that.
(I’m sure that’s not news to you, it’s just one of my twitch triggers)
@Scildfreja Unnýðnes
Honestly I can’t say that I didn’t feel a little teed after her answer
@Troubelle
I’ll be more than glad for the overton window to shift much further to the left.
@Scildfreja, more recent
And I highly doubt we could organize a revolution to tamper that at this time.
@Scildfreya – yep, we just finished 8 years of barely-disguised ugly racism, and we’d better gird ourselves for another (hopefully) 8 years of naked misogyny.
But remember, it won’t matter. The fact is, we DID have a black president for 8 years, and he was awesome. And we WILL have a woman president for another 8. There will be much rending of garments and gnashing of teeth, but the victory is and will be ours.
The silliest thing about the “women shouldn’t be president” people is that they inevitably bring up PMS. Apparently sex ed in this country needs to be better. Because at Hillary Clinton’s age, I highly doubt she is still menstruating. It’s already ridiculous to think that women can’t do their work competently because periods. But, come on. They’ve never even heard of menopause?
“My turn.” Fuck you, Trump. You are such a misogynist asshole.
@Troubelle,
If we ran the country like Trump runs his companies, we would be a banana republic.
@wwth well remember people like Trump don’t even know which womanly orifice bleeds just that it’s ICKY.
Donnie seems to be trying to re-fight the 2nd debate only this time he gets to say all the things that came to him afterward.
You are not even that fucking rich you piece of shit
Your company is built on fraud and crap.
Who wants to see Trump bumble around being a sexual harasser
Clinton: “I did all these things for America and human rights and stuff!”
Trump: “I built great companies! Also, YOU made ISIS!”
Okay.
@Troubelle, Wolf-PAC and Democracy Now! are working on that right now. There are a number of ways to create an amendment to the American constitution, and they’re fighting to get one made. Seems like the best chance to me.
@wwth
I recall reading a story about a woman whose middle-aged male boss kept complaining about tampon/pad dispensers in women’s restrooms, and who refused to let her get up and use the restroom.
She calmly explained that if she didn’t, she’d bleed through her skirt and onto her chair.
This shocked him.
Apparently, he was under the impression that periods could be triggered at will to waste time, and that tampons and pads were sex toys.
