That $20,000 Donald Trump painting: Found?

The Timeless Art of Trumpduction
The Timeless Art of Trumpduction

A We Hunted the Mammoth EXCLUSIVE!!!! I have crudely photoshopped found a fake version of the mysterious and surprisingly sexy painting that Trump had his “charity” buy him for $20,000!

Alas, it is not quite as sexy as this actual real painting of Trump on display at Mar-a-Lago.

The Timeless Sweater of Seduction
The Timeless Sweater of Seduction

That is a real painting that exists (though not the one his charity paid $20,000 for).

Don’t show this to social justice newbs obviously, but I just found this hilarious whiny MRA response to the male privilege checklist

Will mock that in greater detail after dinner

Since this is a current Trump thread, here’s something I found on the Yahoo main page a few minutes ago about the real reason why he won’t release his tax forms:

https://thinkprogress.org/donald-trump-jr-spills-the-beans-reveals-real-reason-his-father-wont-release-his-tax-returns-ea742aab90f9?gi=162a8fd29f94#.ebbetbwhs

I found the CNN headline quoted in the article a particularly funny summation of the reason.

And an OT link to an old story about some Yale teachers and an email from last year about inappropriate Halloween costumes.

http://thefederalist.com/2016/09/15/watch-a-mob-of-yale-students-bully-a-professor-who-hurt-their-feelings/

Be warned that this article writer thinks the protests over said email was because the POCs’ involved have thin skins.

I still find the Pepe thing ridiculous. Surely he stands for green supremacy, not white supremacy? I don’t know if you had this in America, but there was a fad about ten years ago for a character called ‘Crazy Frog’ also known as ‘The Annoying Thing’. He had several European hit songs, and always had his willy out, which was controversial at the time. You can watch a video of him here. (Sanitized version 🙁 )

The Alt Right already have a spoof religion, it’s called evangelical Christianity, but most folk haven’t got the punchline yet and still think it’s a real thing.

I have problems with them being taught it via the stick method (ie Satan will torture you for eternity). Apart from anything else, isn’t Satan a Dick? Who tortures him?

“Satan” is simply a title. It means “adversary”. The angel who rebelled against god and was cast into hell for eternity and seeks to escape to conquer heaven is probably not the same satan as the one who invisibly wanders the world, tempting people into sin and occasionally causing chaos (with god’s express permission, apparently). Even if they’re somehow two different aspects of the same being, there is no description of hell within the christian bible beyond “lake of fire, in which sinners burn”. Nothing about demons being tormentors.

So they’re probably wrong anyway even within the framework of their own religion.

Holy fuck. I only read part of the female checklist before posting the link and have since realized that there are 97 items! I’ll just do the first 10 for now. I can do more later if people want me to.

As a response to the feminist “Male Privilege Checklist” I’m going to codify the privileges that most if not all females enjoy.

I had to put the preamble in because it’s key that he’s claiming all “females” enjoy these “privileges.” It will be become clear that “all females” secretly means wealthy young white and pretty western women.

1. From an early age the opposite sex will be instructed never to hit me but I may not be given the same instructions. However, should I strike males I can expect not to be hit back and any social penalties that occur from my actions will actually fall on the male.

As usual with MRAs, he seems to be taking a pro hitting women stance rather than a blanket anti-violence stance. Also, how often is that women can hit men for no reason without any consequence and then everyone jails the man? I’ve never seen this happen. It kind of seems like he’s mad when women defend themselves doesn’t it?

2. If I’m not smart, but pretty, I can marry and achieve the social and financial level of my husband without ever working.

Because all or most women are so beautiful that trophy wife is a viable occupation? Really? I guess I’ll go marry a rich man now. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that before!

3. I can produce offspring. A status which grants me an “essential” status in our species that men can never have and which can never be taken away from me even in old age.

Men can produce offspring too. What does he think sperm is? It’s also pretty hilarious that he thinks elderly women are valued in our culture.

4. Regardless of my mate value society has organized fertility clinics and social welfare programs that will allow me to have children and provide for them should I choose to reproduce without a mate or marriage.

I don’t know about other countries, but in the US there are no programs that give money to women to pay for insemination or surrogates if we can’t or don’t reproduce via sex. At least not that I know of.

There are plenty of clinics that help men with fertility issues and erectile dysfunction.

I thought women were all regarded as perfect mothers and can all snag rich husbands. Where are these females with no mate value coming from all of a sudden?

5. I not only have the more valuable and sought after sexual identity, but I also have complete control over my reproductive choice and in many ways over the reproductive choice of the opposite sex.

Gender is not a sexual identity. What is he even talking about?

6. At any time I can abandon my parental responsibilities with little or no social stigma and hand the child over to the state or abort the pregnancy. A male could never relieve himself of this burden unless I allow him to.

First of all, tons of fathers don’t pay support and the courts don’t always have the resources to track them down.

Second of all, women cannot just hand their kids to the state. Some states allow babies to be dropped off but that is only to avoid child abandonment. Giving birth and then leaving the baby in a dumpster or toilet is not remotely legal and the drop offs are anonymous because there’s a fuck ton of social stigma surrounding being unable to care for your children.

Third of all, getting an abortion is not the same as neglecting an actual living child.

It’s always so creepy to me that MRAs are dying to abandon their children, yet they think they should be granted custody all the time.

7. I am granted all the rights of a democracy without any of the burdens of military service.

Oh, for fuck’s sake. No men have been drafted since Vietnam and even then, a lot of economically privileged men managed to get out of it. Stop whining about being drafted when you haven’t been drafted and are in no danger of being drafted anytime soon.

Not to mention, a lot of women in the world do not actually live in democracies.

8. At age 18 I lose the protective status of the child but retain the protective status of the female. Boys at age 18 lose the protected status of the child and become targets if they fail to gain status after that point.

What does this even mean? I had no idea that as a female, I don’t have to follow laws, pay my bills or pay my debts! What the fuck is even talking about?

9. When I marry a man with status I can take his name and become whoever he has spent years becoming. I need not do anything special to be worthy of receiving the reputation he has built. However, if I wish to keep my own name I can do so. Should my husband feel the sting of this insult I can simply call him a sexist for it.

The reason women traditionally take their husband’s name is because women were basically regarded as the property of her father until she is married. Then she becomes her husband’s property. Some privilege.

And there is nobody stopping men from taking their wive’s names if they wish to do so. Change your name to whatever you want. No one curr.

10. People will help me more when I’m in need and I will receive no social penalty or stigma for it.

There’s a sliver of a point here. But it’s not feminists telling men who are disabled, poor or mentally ill to “man up.” Also, how is he defining in need? I’ve held the door for plenty of elderly or disabled men and I saw nobody pointing and laughing at them.

Just got done with that site WWTH linked to, and towards the bottom of that list found these two items:

94. If I hear a story about Darfur and how men who leave the refugee camps to gather wood are hacked to death to prevent their wives from being raped I am likely to think that is proper but not likely to send money.

95. If I hear a story about Darfur and how women are leaving the refugee camps to gather wood are being raped I’m likely to be outraged. I’m also likely to wonder why these women’s husbands aren’t protecting them.

What the hell? More “First World feminism is just feeeemales throwing a tantrum while women in the rest of the world have the REAL problems”, I take it?

>.<

ETA: I just caught WWTH's takedown of the the first ten items. I read the thing to the end, and evidently this copy of the thing wasn't written by that poster. Didn't see who did originally wrote it, though. Just not the guy who posted it at that site.

You are quite right that it’s more complicated than that. As a graduate who specialised in the Philosophy of Religion, I appreciate the wider picture you’re demonstrating, but I was talking about the perspective of a 2 year old 20 years ago, so I suspect the context was “bad guy”. What was shocking was that was his go-to reaction.

Holy fuck. I only read part of the female checklist before posting the link and have since realized that there are 97 items! I’ll just do the first 10 for now. I can do more later if people want me to.

Yes, please!

(I was also expecting a list of 20 or so items and had the same shock when, having got that far, I looked at the scroll bar and saw it had barely moved from the top.)

9. When I marry a man with status I can take his name and become whoever he has spent years becoming. I need not do anything special to be worthy of receiving the reputation he has built. However, if I wish to keep my own name I can do so. Should my husband feel the sting of this insult I can simply call him a sexist for it.

I found this one particularly confusing. I sort of wanted to replace “call him a sexist for it” with “explain that I didn’t want to appropriate his hard-won eminence” in the last sentence, because up to then it sounded like he didn’t like women taking their husbands’ names when they marry, but then it turns out he has a problem with them not taking them too? What’s a woman supposed to do in his world, pretend to have an allergy to names and just discard them altogether?

3. I can produce offspring. A status which grants me an “essential” status in our species that men can never have and which can never be taken away from me even in old age.

What confuses me about this one is that if it is women’s childbearing role which grants them a status of “essential” (presumably in a society of a few decades into the future, when generation of embryos without sperm has been developed to the point that it is in practical use), then surely they lose that status in old age once they can no longer fulfil that role. I guess if conception using the woman’s eggs is no longer involved then she can go on bearing children for longer than if that needs to be a part of it, but there still has to be an upper age limit (probably not the same for every woman) past which her body can’t take the stresses of pregnancy any more.

(Obviously all this would apply to trans men too, but I’m not surprised he doesn’t recognise that.)

5. I not only have the more valuable and sought after sexual identity, but I also have complete control over my reproductive choice and in many ways over the reproductive choice of the opposite sex.

Gender is not a sexual identity. What is he even talking about?

No, indeed it’s not. I think what he means is “women are the most desirable people to have sex with”, which is hilarious because of how it assumes that of course everyone is a straight male. Giving it a bit more benefit of the doubt, it might mean “men really really want to sleep with women but women are less bothered about whether they have sex or not, so women are more in demand from men than men are from women and thus get to have sex whenever they want and be picky about their partners”. (I know the problems with that claim have been discussed here numerous times, so I won’t bother going through them again.)

Second of all, women cannot just hand their kids to the state. Some states allow babies to be dropped off but that is only to avoid child abandonment

This is the hardest thing for MRAs to understand. You can explain, in exacting detail, how ‘Baby Moses’ laws work and the differences by jurisdiction. Still a sinister plot to trap teh powurliss menz somehow. Of course, the real issue is they’re mad they can’t just abduct their kid from the mother, drop em off, and run. Shitgibbons, the lot of em

I can do more later if people want me to

Uh huh! *sparkly eyes of anticipation*

weirwoodtreehugger: communist bonobo

These two are also classic

12. When I search for employment I can choose jobs which I think are fulfilling without concern of whether they provide a “family” wage.

This guy really does some seem stuck on the notion that all mothers are wealthy housewives. No woman ever worked a shitty job and no woman ever worked to support her family

13. I can discriminate against the opposite sex ruthlessly without social penalty.

I can only imagine that this is outrage over women getting to say no to sex.

I mean, the list is from 2010 so there’s probably no point in mocking in it. But I’m bored and it’s funny, so why not?

I wonder if anyone has ever done a cat privilege checklist?

Well I managed to dig up more soil to reveal more roots, had some roots exposed all around, and managed to chop 3/4 of a leg sized root and helped my relative tow rubbish for a neighbor.

But more importantly I almost forgot, today is my late grandfather’s birthday. To pay respects to a dead Chinese relative, take a clay pot, strike a match and burn multiple papers that represent money, clothes, gold, silver and house.

The wind kept blowing out my matches and the fire kept turning into nothing but fumes. Multiple failed matches later the papers were burned, respects were had an all was well. Multiple setbacks and near misses but the task was still done, seems appropriate for my late grandfather.

weirwoodtreehugger: communist bonobo

But back to the misandry!

17. I have the option to be outraged if my husband asks me if my behavior is due to PMS and later on use PMS as a successful legal defense for murdering that same husband.

Huh? When has PMS been used as a successful defense for murder?

22. The majority of luxury apparel is designed, marketed to, and consumed by women.
23. Seven times as much jewelry will be purchased by or for me than by or for men.

Dude, if you want to dress like a stereotypical pimp, go ahead and dress like a stereotypical pimp! No one is stopping you!

33. If I “choose” to join the military; the best military occupations providing the most lucrative civilian training will be reserved for me. I will be kept away from the fighting as much as possible to the point that I will be thirty times less likely to be killed in a war zone than my male counterparts. I will be given equal pay for less risk. I will never have to consider the fact that by joining the military and getting a plumb assignment I automatically forced a male out of that position and into a combat role that may cost him his life.

Women who aren’t in the military are trying to get men killed. Women who are in the military are trying to get men killed.

37. Not only is there a wealth of clothing choices designed for me but it is likely that I will be able to afford or have them provided for me.

Funny how I have a ton of trouble finding clothes that fit because women’s clothing is designed to fit a very narrow range of body types. Oh well. I guess I’ll just enslave all the men and force them to custom make couture gowns for me.

43. In the event of a natural disaster or other emergency that requires evacuation I can expect to be evacuated before males. This includes male doctors, humanitarians, politicians, captains of industry, billionaires, and religious leaders. I will receive no social penalty if all of those people died because I was evacuated first. However, should they manage to get evacuated before women and those women died they will all suffer a social penalty.

No women died in hurricane Katrina or the Haiti earthquake. Lots of male billionaire CEOs did though. I love MRA facts.

51. If I’m uncomfortable exercising around men I can demand a female only gym be made for women. If any male only gyms exist I can demand membership under threat of lawsuit.
52. If my female only gym at the university decides to close early for safety reasons I can scream sexism and force them to keep it open as long as the main gym.
53. If I succeed at keeping the female gym open and I leave late at night and I don’t feel safe I can demand that the university spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for more lighting and police presence.
54. If after getting new lighting and police protection I decide I don’t want to go to the gym anymore well that’s just my prerogative.

Four whole entries devoted to lady gyms. He’s really mad about this for some reason.

67. I think it is my right to work and I am unconcerned if the influx of women into the workforce has reduced overall wages to the point that it’s hard to support a family on just one income, or affirmative action has kept men from being promoted even though they deserved it.

Wait a second. He has like 25 entries about how all women are pampered housewives and don’t want to work. Why is he mad that we want to work now?

73. People I’ve never met before are more likely to talk to me in public.

Street harassment is a privilege?

74. If I go to a bar I can expect that members of the opposite sex will purchase drinks for me.

This one is 100% true. Everywhere I go, every man around buys me drinks. I even took one home with me so that I could have my own personal bartender on hand at all times.

80. I like it when bars and clubs have drinks specials just for women.

Why would we need drink specials? I prefer to make the men buy me my drinks at full price. I’m just worth it, you know?

93. I can wear seductive clothing and perfume to attract a man at work but no one will accuse me of sexual harassment.

Wearing perfume is sexual harassment? Can we gender flip that and make Ax Body Spray illegal then?

All that typing has exhausted me. I’m going to need one of you guy mammotheers to make me a Red Bull and vodka and then give me a child support check. Do it now or I’ll have you drafted!

Thank you, that was great!

53. If I succeed at keeping the female gym open and I leave late at night and I don’t feel safe I can demand that the university spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for more lighting and police presence.

This is one of my favourites, because everyone knows that out of option A, getting institutions to spend money on lighting and policing for your benefit, and option B, feeling safe walking around at any time of day regardless of what the lighting and policing situation is like, clearly option A wins hands down, and it’s totally unfair that men can’t get anyone to spend money on lighting or policing to make them feel safe: this is a sublime joy that their maleness bars them from experiencing.

Also because if the institution has managed to find lights that only illuminate the surroundings for females and police or security guards who will totally ignore any crimes against male victims committed in front of them, then that is some pretty impressive sourcing.

How is this good? What kinda extrovert Superman does he think he is? All men are? Unsolicited public conversation is terrible. On a few occasions I’ve been legit worried for my safety, cos some dude’s decided to box me into talkin about… who the fuck even knows!? Put an exponent on that and you get a woman’s experience. Day in, day out. Uuugh!

If any male only gyms exist I can demand membership under threat of lawsuit

I was curious so I Googled it. I looked through 3 pages of results and only found a lawsuit about some gyms offering women’s only hours, a lawsuit against a women’s only gym, a lawsuit against a gym for banning a member for complaining about a trans woman using the locker room, a lawsuit for not offering gender neutral locker rooms, and a bunch of manbabies threatening to sue Curves either just because they’re offended by the idea or because some other thing happened around women suing for being excluded from something that is completely unrelated to gyms.

There was a lawsuit here (decades ago, not sure exactly how long), which successfully made a men only gym admit women. The meat of it was that thegym in question is a quite posh one, where many movers and shakers in city politics go to network. A woman who had recently been elected to city council held that she was being unfairly excluded from alace necessary for her work, and the court agreed.

To avoid having to actually let women participate, they put a bar in the men’s locker room.

Thanks for the links, all.

@Axe:
The friend in question works in education policy. She’s revising the requirements for personal-development modules that are required as part of a particular vocational syllabus. Apparently these personal-development curricula are quite primitive, to the point where her simply asking around her lefty friends for resources is a step up.

By “majority” I think she means “white”, but with shades of other intersectional forms of privilege (particularly education and money.) The syllabus in question is something to be taken by professionals who’ll be put in positions of trust over kids. It will mostly be taken by white university-educated people, who will then have to give meaningful guidance to children from disproportionately poor and minority backgrounds. She’s pointed out (reasonably) that if there is no part of the curriculum which teaches white people how to support people of colour, then it may turn out less well than hoped.

Side question. Been thinkin about it in the background for a while, and your request is semi related. What does an advocate/adherent of social justice call themself? SJW is snarl word nonsense and 3 whole words. I guess one could reclaim it or summat… I hear intersectional feminist, but that’s got its own issues (too many syllables, unintuitive, assumes primacy of gender ‘struggle’). There doesn’t need to be a term, just wondering if a good/simple/catchy one exists

EJ (The Other One)

@Dalilama:
That’s… argh. That’s just really tiring. Even when women win they can’t win.

@WWTH:

That list is a veritable Augean Stable of bullshit. Kudos for finding it and some excellent mockery. Here are my favourites:

58. I expect people (especially men) to be sensitive to my feelings.

Naturally, the reverse isn’t true at all. No man has ever complained about his hurt feelings. No man has ever expected women to perform emotional support for them. Nope. Men’s feelings are something that society rides roughshod over without regard.

They would not be, for example, on this list.

59. I can deny a man’s feelings or disregard them or ridicule him for having them without social penalty.

Oh, right, yes. It turns out that not being sensitive to men’s feelings is another entire item on the list. They’re like, right next to one another too.

Women: don’t complain about your own feelings. That wastes time and energy that you could be spending on men’s feelings!

60. If I lose my job it’s because of sexism or the economy. If a man loses his job it’s because he’s a loser.

Uh… no. If a man loses his job it’s normally because of the economy or because he fucked up. A man is not a “loser” if he loses his job. Neither is a woman.

You know who think men are losers if they lose their jobs? People who buy into unreasonable standards of masculinity.

61. If I go to a club or bar with my girlfriends and I look my sexy best I have a right to be perturbed when men approach me and hit on me in this public place.

You know what I hate? Going out with my friends and socialising with them, only to be constantly interrupted by strangers who want to talk about their penises. Fortunately, being a straight man, I don’t get this often enough to ruin my evening.

What did the writer think women do when they go out with their friends? Just sit around waiting for men to walk up to them, like NPCs in a video game? Is the company of her friends something she’s so desperate to avoid that she’ll relish the opportunity of a complete stranger’s pick-up attempt instead?

62. Even though men die more from prostate cancer than women die from breast cancer I can expect that twice as much funding is given for breast cancer. The same will apply to any female specific disease or malady.

Yes. BECAUSE WOMEN HAVE THEIR SHIT TOGETHER ABOUT IT.

I don’t think this author knows what privilege means. A privilege is an unearned advantage. Breast cancer awareness and fundraising is an amazingly successful cause, stemming from many years of organisation, engagement and community-building. A lot of patient people worked very hard to make that happen. This is the opposite of unearned advantage.

If men spent the same amount of time and energy, we might achieve something too. But we don’t. If I get prostate cancer, my fellow men would rather let me die than organise to help me.

EJ (The Other One)
