Memeday: A visit to Reddit’s horrifying haven for Trump fans, The_Donald

Remember this antisemitic anti-Hillary meme? The_Donald is trying to Googlebomb it to the top of the results for the word "corrupt"
Remember this antisemitic anti-Hillary meme? The_Donald is trying to Googlebomb it to the top of the results for the word “corrupt”

As Trump stumbles from one self-created crisis to another, the main hub of Trump support on Reddit is thriving. The_Donald now boasts more than 200,000 subscribers, many of them eager cyber-warriors who love nothing so much as Googlebombing anti-Hillary memes (like the one above) to the top of the search engines results, or flooding online polls with votes for the man they call their God Emperor.

For today’s Memeday, here are some of the more, well, interesting memes posted to The_Donald in the last week. All these memes got upvotes, some thousands of them, others only a handful.

Though many of Trump’s most enthusiastic fans are Internet Nazis who’ve flooded Twitter with a wide assortment of antisemitic memes, more than 1200 The_Donald readers evidently felt no shame about upvoting a meme that libels lefty rich dude philanthropist George Soros as a literal Nazi working for the literal Hitler.

donsoros
Not actually true

Soros, who is Jewish, was 13 when the Nazis invaded Hungary; he survived the Holocaust by posing as the godson of a government official. On one occasion, when he was 14, he traveled with this government official to inventory the belongings left behind by a wealthy Jewish family that had fled the country. This incident has been cast as “collaboration” by assorted right-wing media sources; this meme takes the false allegation one step further.

Here, in something of an ironic twist, The_Donald readers joke about murdering many times the number of people Hitler and the Nazis murdered.

donsolved

It should be noted that Trump himself has made a point of saying that he won’t rule out using nuclear weapons against countries he deems enemies of the US.

Here The-Donald denizens try some cold-war style redbaiting with a meme suggesting that Hillary is a Communist agent because some of her campaign buttons make reference to a “new day dawning.” Which is apparently Commie-speak for world domination or something.

Er, you guys remember Reagan's "morning in America" thing, right?
Er, you guys remember Reagan’s “morning in America” thing, right?

And why not round out the whole bunch with a rape joke featuring accused rapist Julian Assange?

donass

Just a reminder: When Donald Trump went to Reddit to do an AMA (Ask Me Anything), this was the subreddit he did it in. These are his peeps.

Happy memeday, everyone!

Gert,

Then instead of whining about how we’re not taking the “women are lying bitches” stance – and don’t even try to pretend that’s not the implication of this great concern for presumption of innocence on the internet that men seem to bust out only for rape allegations – why don’t you express why you think he’s not guilty.

Given that only 3% of rapes end with a conviction of the rapist, asking us to assume innocence is effectively asking us to assume that 97% of the people who say they were raped are lying.

And, to me, what Gert’s doing is doubly wrong considering Assange has already admitted to the act.

He openly admitted to penetrating a sleeping woman because she gave him her consent previously.

Why does this mean he still gets the benefit of the doubt? Why is this seen as an excuse for what he did and not a confession to rape?

Please fuck off, Axe.

You’re wrong on just about every count. I’m not going to waste my time on you any further, except for one point.

You think I’m not aware how hard it is to get rape convictions in court? How the system is skewed against rape victims? You think I’m not aware of that? Is that what you’re implying? You’re WRONG AGAIN.

How though is that very sad state of affairs in contradiction with the possibility that Assange’s accusers have been coached in the interest of Empire, huh? DO READ the links Virgin Mary provided, arsehole.

I’m done arguing with someone who could argue the hind legs off a donkey and still get it spectacularly wrong.

I won’t address you again, so knock yourself out.

It still has to STAND UP in a court of Law, PI.

I’m pretty sure people admitting they did things is an open and shut case. I can’t say there’s a precedent of people saying they did something and it turns out they didn’t in court, not that is hasn’t happened but it’s an anomaly.

I mean, I took the last rhubarb cupcake. Do I have to go to court and be charged guilty to affirm I did, in fact, take the last rhubarb cupcake or is my word enough?

@Gert

You think I’m not aware how hard it is to get rape convictions in court?

Doesn’t matter. What you know and what you do, given that knowledge, aren’t necessarily the same thing. You get far more support by saying ‘presumption of innocence’ than by saying ‘that [slur] is a liar’. You’re an enabler. Don’t like that, stop enabling

possibility that Assange’s accusers have been coached in the interest of Empire

*insert Imperial March here*
But, for real, the US would go to the trouble of making women LIE (and that is what you’re implying) about being raped in order to… What, exactly? Not catch him? He’s still leaking. Doxed a whole fuckin country, cos why not. The Empire, so clever yet so incompetent…

DO READ the links Virgin Mary provided, arsehole

No need. He admitted to acts that would (I hope) qualify as rape under statute. He’s a rapist. The Empire is shady, but their shadiness doesn’t absolve Assange

argue the hind legs off a donkey

Ooh! That’s folksy. I’m stealing it

It still has to STAND UP in a court of Law

No, it doesn’t. For my purposes (not involved in the making or execution of the laws of the UK, Ecuador, Sweden, or Murica), he’s guilty. Conviction would be wonderful, but as to us, here, on this blog, his confession is sufficient to call him a rapist

I think it’s about that time again

It’s entirely possible that both are true:

(1) Assange has sexually assaulted and raped (at least two) women.

(2) These facts are being used against him by the powers that be.

In fact, if number 1 is true, wouldn’t that be perfect for the interests of the powers that be?

I’m sorry, but what fucking court of law operates where you live that hears someone say “Yeah, I did this thing that’s illegal and here’s why” as something that won’t hold up in court?

There are only a few ways I know of where a confession doesn’t hold up:

– The person is under the influence (my abuser tried to claim this one after the fact)

– The person is coerced or tortured for the confession

– The person wasn’t read their rights and is therefore wrongfully detained and (This actually happened to my abuser, so I had to go through a second trial because his confession was null and void)

As far as I’m aware, none of these apply in this case. If you think they do, feel free to show me proof that it does.

Because I’ve already seen a confession from Assange.

It’s funny how there’s never concern trolling about how personal opinions expressed on the internet have to be held to the same standard as a court of law when the topic is say, a burglary. Or one of those stupid/silly/outrageous crime stories. I wonder why that is? Could it be a thing that rhymes with vape vulture?

The Assange thing really gives us a chance to separate the brogressives from the real feminist allies though. The brogressives love this case because it gives them cover to make rape apologia and pretend it is merely an anti-imperialist stance. Luckily, we’re smart enough to see through it.

Anyway, Gert. We like Axe way more than we like you, so it doesn’t carry much weight when you tell him to fuck off. You aren’t exactly speaking for the group here.

I am convinced that Assange is guilty.

However, if misunderstand the quotes correctly he technically didn’t admit to doing what hes accused of doing. His lawyer argued that IF HE HAD done those things, they wouldn’t be illegal, but explicitly said this was not a confession and they reserved the right to challenge the accuracy of the story.

I happen to think that if he hadn’t done what he’s accused of he would not be running with that defense, which is one of many reasons I think he is guilty. But it’s not strictly accurate to say he confessed.

I find it hard to believe his political enemies would fabricate or even try to exploit scrape allegation. If they were that unethical and that willing to take risks, why not plant drugs in his suitcase, or just have someone shoot him?

That’s both super nice and potentially backhanded. Grinning ear to ear, either way tho ?

Where was Hairt on the previous article? Why was he not standing up for the rule of law in relation to Milo’s embezzling? Assange confessed (not exactly, according to Orion, but come on. It’s like when OJ wrote that book, If I Did It. The fuck you foolin with “if”?), so we have far stronger evidence against him than Mr 5 Interns in a Trench Coat. Vape Vulture indeed

Amber Heard’s donation of her divorce settlement [to the ACLU, earmarked for programs that support survivors of domestic violence, and also to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where she’s volunteered for a decade] is a huge power move

PS: I’m sadface about Johnny Depp, a sensitive actor. But by now I’m not shocked that any celebrity is not what they seem to be.

@ Gert

Should Roosh also be presumed innocent, in spite of the claims he’s made about holding down crying women because he needed “his nut”, since he also hasn’t been found guilty in a court of law? Is it wrong of me to say and believe that Roosh is a rapist shitbucket? I’m ever so worried about maintaining proper court protocol while making comments on a blog, you see.
