Say what you will about the meme-makers at the Going GHOST – MGTOW Facebook page, but you have to give them credit for one thing: their laser-like focus on the issues that truly matter to men.
And I don’t mean silly frivolous fluff like prison rape or workplace safety or prostate cancer. No, I mean the issues that REALLY matter. Like ladies night. And hot chicks playing video games in their underwear.
Let’s take a look at these and other totally important issues they raise.
1) Females today being a bunch of ugly lesbians
2) The aforementioned Ladies Night
3) Hot babes playing video games in their underwear
4) Hot babes getting more “likes” on Facebook for their cosplay pics than I got for my totally awesome Batman costume, no, I’m not bitter
5) Women dressing up as sexy Darth Vader even though they probably don’t even know who he is, probably!
6) Females doing Yoga wrong, and also having jobs and voting
Clearly the only way to deal with a society this corrupt is to Go Your Own Way and live a life of quiet dignity like Henry David Thoreau devote all your free time to yelling about how women suck on the internet.
Didn’t Tim post the same copypasta as MarkyMark in the suicide thread yesterday?
What a dipshit.
So on the cosplay thing:
Of course, as PI and Argle Bargle have both pointed out, many female characters in video games/anime/etc. etc. *are designed* in skimpy clothing. To portray them accurately requires dressing with boobs and/or midriff and/or butt emphasized. It is profoundly silly to complain about real women at a con dressing like the fake women you already watch in your favorite shows or games.
If women are playing some kind of cheap game by dressing like that for your attention, then maybe you dudebros oughta get a bit mad at the designers who draw women like that for your attention. Just sayin’.
But something that also strikes me about this is that, once again, it involves the dudebro brigade pretending like any women ranked less than an HB8 simply don’t exist.
I’ve noticed when I see a woman on the internet cosplaying a more covered character–let’s say full-armor Samus–there will inevitably be comments like, “UGH, finally, a female cosplayer who isn’t all about showing off her boobs for attention.” “See, THIS is how cosplay should be.”
And every time, I want to respond, “DUDE, those kinds of costumes are EVERYWHERE; you just don’t care about them.”
(And of course, there’s nothing wrong with having a boob-ful costume, but that’s another topic entirely.)
But seriously. I’ve seen so many female cosplayers who have amazing costumes that do not center around looking sexy. I’ve seen female cosplayers who specialize in non-ridiculous medieval armor (i.e. armor that would actually protect your vitals from arrows and wouldn’t shatter your sternum if you tripped and fell). I’ve seen female space marines and Muppets and storm troopers and wookiees and Pokemon. I’ve seen Miss Frizzles and Chells and Reys and Golden Girls and Consuelas.
They are out there, and they are *everywhere*–but angry internet dudebros only really care about seeing boobs, and so they mostly only remember the costumes where they see boobs, and thus they believe that’s how most women cosplay.
Additionally, many, many women don’t want to deal with the stigma of dressing as a character that “doesn’t fit their body type”, and so the vast majority of women who a) aren’t young/completely thin/non-jiggly, and b) want to cosplay without having to deal with fat-shaming BS, are going to have to find non-skimpy costumes that they feel comfortable rocking at a convention. Those cosplayers are out there in droves, and they have amazing costumes, but since they wouldn’t be showcased on a pinup poster, once again, the dudebros just don’t care and don’t see them.
(And of course I have nothing but mad respect for women who flip the bird to fat-shaming BS and dress in skimpy costumes anyway–but I’ma hazard a guess that the dudebro brigade doesn’t share that feeling. Even though they would high five the bearded beer-gutted hairy dude who was ironically cosplaying slave Leia.)
Basically, if a guy on the internet is whining about how tricksy feeeeeeemales are boobs-and-butting their way into his precious hobby, that says a lot more about him than it does about any actual women who cosplay. Extra especially if he is whining about them getting more attention than him.
Shorter Tim
Hahaha! See! I’m laughing at you! Cos you’re stupid! And I’m smart! Now, pay attention to me as I don’t Go My Own Way!
ETA:
@Kootiepatra
To be fair, bearded Leia is kinda fun
“Didn’t Tim post the same copypasta as MarkyMark in the suicide thread yesterday?
What a dipshit.”
Good one. The “dipshit” part was just so powerful.
@WWTH: How’s that saying go? “A lie repeated enough times eventually becomes the truth”?
I guess Timmy thinks that if he repeats it enough times, we’ll all just stop being feminists or something, and possibly sleep with him and then never call him again and let him do whatever he wants but still clean his house and raise his children without asking for child support?
I don’t know about y’all, but I’m all up for just ignoring the copy pasta. Though I would like to petition The Dark Lord David to at least delete it, as it’s fucking huge and I’m not scrolling through Wall-O-Text to get to the comments that aren’t PRATTs.
@Axecaliber: Oh totally. Bearded Leia is awesome, it’s just highly telling that dudebros don’t have a problem with that but *do* have a massive problem with any woman who isn’t young, thin, and white wearing the same costume.
I was going to try and respond to specific things Tim said but it got too inane, so shorter version: 1) enjoy tilting at all those strawmen in your tinfoil hat; 2) you are absolutely, 100%, entirely free to never get married. Have a party. GYOW. I’m sure society will struggle along somehow.
(Although I cannot for the life of me fathom how MGTOW is supposed to address the declining birth rate, but what do I know.)
Sometimes I wonder if we have just one or two trolls who paste the same screed (with minor variations) over and over again, or if all MRAs/MGTOWs are so dully unimaginative that they simply sound the same.
It actually looks like only the first few paragraphs of Tim’s screed is copy-pasted from MarkyMark’s, though I really can’t be bothered to check to be 100% certain. Guaranteed it’s chock full of laughable bullshit either way.
This is all I’ve got.
(kisses fingers) MWAH, that is truly a masterpiece among poorly made charts. Not only do we have, as mentioned already, the instant red flag that is 3D stylisation and COMPLETELY undisclosed units*, but also a misleading chart title, overlapping time period divisions, and ungrammatical descriptions (“WWII & Vietnam Suffer A lot of male Casualties,” do they?).
That’s without getting into what I’m sure was the joyous measurement science feat of determining whether each binaried individual was “attractive,” “unattractive,” or “gay.”
Masterpiece. It should be part of a school curriculum.
*I could generously assume this is meant to be US resident population in the millions averaged over the three 30-year periods (yikes) and the one shorter period, but that’s meeting the creator well more than halfway, and in an alternate reality.
“I guess Timmy thinks that if he repeats it enough times, we’ll all just stop being feminists or something, and possibly sleep with him and then never call him again and let him do whatever he wants but still clean his house and raise his children without asking for child support?”
You just pointed out the feminist strategy – and blamed it on men. Typical.
Your half assed copypaste is not worthy of my best mockery or the best mockery of anyone else here. Run along now.
“It actually looks like only the first few paragraphs of Tim’s screed is copy-pasted from MarkyMark’s,…”
Yes, it was I, under an alias. Tim is also an alias. What do you expect – for me to give my real name? That would mean job loss and suicide – which is the feminist way of destroying those that oppose. I’ve been here many times – under many an alias. Do you blame me?
@Tim Tam Bim Bam Flim Flam Zim Zipidi do da my oh my what a wonderful day
Meng we already discussed this in another thread, try to mix things up with your own rhetoric otherwise it’s like talking to an echo.
“Your half assed copypaste is not worthy of my best mockery or the best mockery of anyone else here. Run along now.”
Translation:
“You’re correct, but denial of the facts and cultural misandry gives women the upper hand over men.”
Aren’t you glad I’m a translator?
Tim, snookums, could you please do us a HUGE favor and go your own damn way already…FAR AWAY FROM HERE?
Thanks awfully.
“Tim, snookums, could you please do us a HUGE favor and go your own damn way already…FAR AWAY FROM HERE?”
Oh yes – I will. Just leaving your man haters with something to think about.
Bye ‘ladies’.
@Tim
Oh, so you’re just the same boring person. What are you hoping to achieve? Like, someone gave you a proper reply to your last comment, but you didn’t bother to respond.
I mean, almost all of us use aliases, but we all know not to copy/paste the same screeds in multiple unrelated threads, because that’s a) really rude, and b) not how debates work.
I have it on pretty good authority from lots of employed anti-feminist men that posting an anti-feminist comment is pretty unlikely to get you fired.
I sincerely hope that you are not feeling suicidal, but none of us are urging you to kill yourself, and no feminist has the power to inflict suicide on you. Suicide hotlines for your region are only a web search + phone call away, and if you even kind of think you might need one, please do call one immediately.
I don’t blame you for using an alias. I don’t even blame you for being wary of internet harassment/doxing/etc. I can totally blame you, though, for repeatedly coming back under numerous aliases to dump prefab rants on people who have made it clear that they aren’t interested.
I’d ask “Tim” to name one example of a man who has actually had his life ruined because he posted on a feminist blog, but I suspect that he wouldn’t be able to actually substantiate that claim. Furthermore, given the rather excessive amount of evidence that points to men having relatively successful careers despite constantly saying incredibly misogynistic stuff, I’d be disinclined to believe any “evidence” he could pull up in the first place, at least on the basis of it being an example of feminists destroying a man’s life.
PS: I’m not a woman, and you’re still a wad.
Tim, my man, if you’re the same Mark that used his own photo recently then you’ve already exposed your real identity and yet we didn’t do anything awful to you because we’re not monsters. FFS, Tim, not everyone operates like you.
@Kootiepatra
That hypocrisy tho. Fat, brown, elderly, Leia cosplayers unite!
It’s not the declining birthrate. It’s the white, I mean Western, birthrate. The answer of course is it won’t. Not sure why we should care, but it won’t nonetheless
I made this point to Tim, I mean Mark, the 1st time he showed up with that ‘Africa is for the Africans’ bullshit: Ethnic Asians (excluding the greater Middle East, cos he puts them as a separate category) outnumber whites, I mean Westerners, 3:1. The ship has sailed, it’s over. Now quit being a racist and worry about… literally anything else
My real name is totally weirwoodtreehugger and I am a well known member of the communist bonobo community. I post under my real name because we live in such a gynocentric culture that no feminist has ever been harassed or threatened for posting feminist things online before.
@dlouwe:
I wouldn’t be surprised if ladies was put in scare quotes so that he could laugh at how all of the men here are totally feminized mangina cucks.
