So our dear old friend Matt Forney, the neo-Naziesque internet doofus, has found himself suspended from Twitter (again), shortly after posting an assortment of tweets so wildly homophobic they even managed to offend the lovely Milo Yiannopoulos and his internet horde.
According to noted free speech expert Matt Forney, Matt Forney was suspended “because I was guilty of Being Conservative on Twitter.”
Evidently the powers that be decided at their latest meeting that Forney constitutes A SOMEWHAT SMALLISH THREAT TO THE NARRATIVE, and thus must be silenced, sort of, by not being allowed to use one of the many social media platforms available to him.
Twitter may be picking on me because I’m popular enough to be a threat to the leftist narrative yet small enough that they can silence me without causing much of an uproar.
Naturally, the rule-abiding Forney, who insists he “wasn’t doing anything that could be considered a violation of the Terms of Service” has violated these same Terms of Service by setting up a new Twitter account to get around the ban. Just like he did the last time he was banned, if I recall correctly.
As for Milo, Forney insists that
I like Milo … but I question how much longer a guy who brags about having gay sex with black men can call himself a conservative.
Here’s some examples of the kind of TRUTH* that Twitter will be shielding us from.
NOTE: aforementioned TRUTH* should not be confused with real truth.
How will the world’s Twitterers survive being deprived of these insights, at least if said Twitterers don’t bother to subscribe to Forney’s “backup” Twitter account?
Nightmare, sweetie.
Sorry. I just wanted to use that gif again.
And speaking of gifs, in case any excessively literal-minded hostile readers are reading this, please note that this post contains
@Gert Genuinely curious as to what you think you’re accomplishing here. When I post on a blog, it’s usually because I want to be part of that community. You’ve barged in, tossed out a hideously dehumanising insult that several regulars have called you out on, and now you’re insisting on digging deeper and deeper.
Any chance of being part of this place is evaporating, and all you’ve got left is riling everyone up to the point you’re banned. If you’re not a troll, what then is the actual point?
Sure, where did I indicate “it’s totally her fault for not doing so?”. You’re really getting desperate.
If kupo doesn’t want to accept an apology that’s her right. As it is mine to point to context she denies. She’s behaving as if I personally insulted her, instead of having insulted one of the biggest Internet bigots on the planet.
Her claim ‘Gert doesn’t care’ is also incorrect: I do care, I wouldn’t have apologised and addressed the issue if I didn’t care. But she isn’t 100 % correct either. One can have been wronged without being fully right too.
Is this thread ever a mess :-/. I’m sorry for how you were impacted, kupo.
On men identifying as feminists: I used to have no problem with it, but more and more I associate men who call themselves feminists with a certain kind of “I’m enlightened, therefore you must fuck me” attitude. At worst, it’s sometimes a deliberate smokescreen used to obscure a pattern of predatory behaviour towards women. So, like Alan, these days I find it makes me wary.
But I also get what you’re saying, WWTH, about normalizing feminism in non-feminist spaces (particularly, I think, male-dominated spaces). I guess context is pretty important for this particular issue.
@Axe
I like neartxtenglish. Can I feed it some celery?
@Crys T:
I don’t want to be part of this place, I want to occasionally comment.
I’m not a troll. Do I not have the right to address my critics? That’s trollism, in your book?
Do you realise you end up behaving as badly as those this site so brilliantly lampoons?
@Alan:
Fred Clark over at Slacktivist has done a few articles about The Anti-Kitten Burning Coalition, that group of people who come to the defence of obvious ideas while somehow seeming to consider themselves lone voices speaking truth in the wilderness. Apparently mostly as a way to show ‘See, we’re better than them!’ without admitting to what a horribly low bar that is. He uses that as a lead-in to talk about some of the Satanic Panic, with people desperately looking for horrible things going on so they could feel morally superior.
@IP
For me, the worst/best part is the sounds they make. “Th-th-th-this iiiiis the Queen Zeno-o-o-biaaagtchsst…” Jesus friggin’ Christ, more like the Queen Ze-NOPE-ia.
Which is why I’m in the minority that prefers Resident Evil over Silent Hill – SH has weirder enemy designs, sure, but they’ve never quite nailed the sound effects like RE has, and with my lousy-ass vision, sound is everything.
You might want to include the comments policy in your daily reading.
@Gert, on the subject of splash damage, I actually am “nuts,” but my opinions and feelings are still worthy of consideration.
Aaaand a violation of posting policy re: ‘nuts’.
EDIT: LOL! ninja’d by Buttercup.
@ jenora
Bugger. Ah well back to my screenplay about cloned dinosaurs running amuck I suppose.
That was a really great article though and sooooooo true! I guess the points raised there overlap a bit; although, whilst there’s that element of ‘conspicuous worthiness’, I was thinking more along the lines of suspiciously specific denial (to quote someone else; again).
[My favourite example of that is in League of Gentlemen where, just as a policeman is leaving her shop satisfied that she knows nothing about the disappearance of a surveyor, Tubbs cries out “We didn’t burn him!” 🙂 ]
@Buttercup:
Is making wild allegations of sock-puppetry/trollism/being a ‘lurking MRA’ in agreement with the comments policy? Or is it a one way street?
Replace ‘You’re n*ts’ with ‘You’re completely, 110 % wrong’. Thanks.
@Viscaria:
Your completely baseless and deeply offensive accusations are beyond the pale. As such your feelings are not my consideration. Slanderers don’t deserve much sympathy, whatever their political affiliations may be. Yours is likely to be close to mine but that doesn’t change anything.
Thanks for the support, everyone. I need some time away after that last one. Have some brain bleach if you need it. I’ll probably be feeling better tonight.

Oooh, ooh, is it still time to nth the call to de-Gert?
I accused you of what, exactly? Really. I expressed sympathy to kupo for what they were experiencing. I never even brought you up.
In any case I’m not sure what I could accuse you of that would make it acceptable to dismiss what I have to say on the basis of my mental illnesses. “Viscaria is saying absolutely wrong things and that makes her a shitty person” might be true. “Viscaria is saying wrong things because she’s crazy and being crazy is the same as never having valid opinions” is rather another thing entirely.
Gert: Stop using this forum as your wank sock.
Yep! The rest of the Internet is one-way in MRAs’ favour, so we’ve flipped the script (except, y’know, without all the rape/death threats, slurs and bigotry): We can mock you and you just have to sit there and deal.
Gert, if you’re not a troll, you’re still following a very basic troll formula of:
1) Relatively unknown commentor, says something shitty
2) Gets called out
3) Digs in their heels and becomes hyper-standoffish
Like maybe you aren’t specifically here to get a rise out of us, but really what’s the difference from our PoV? What reason do we have to believe you?
@Gert Well, no one is going to want to engage with you, even occasionally, as long as you keep on down this road.
You used “fat blob” against a human being as an insult. Then, when called out on it, made a load of excuses & attempts at deflection (“well, look what HE did!”). When you did actually apologise, you didn’t exactly come across as sincere. Given this, and given the number of sock puppets & trolls who come by here, it’s pretty understandable why people would speculate you’re one or the other as well.
Seriously, just knowing that you think it’s ok to use “fat blob” as an insult makes me think you are a horrible person that I personally don’t want to interact with in any way. Your way of brushing off the hurt you’ve caused and attempts to make it look as if *you* are somehow the victim compounds this for me, but tbh, even if you gave a gracious apology, the memory that YOU THOUGHT IT WAS FUCKING OK TO CALL A HUMAN BEING A “FAT BLOB” would stick.
I was going to ask what game Skagdeads are from, but I guess it’s from Resident Evil then? I have never played those, except the first one yeeeaaaars ago.
I’m currently back into playing Dead Island though, which I’ve always thought was a pretty good game too 🙂
@ kupo
That really brings home how devastating the consequences of a heartless comment can be. ‘Sticks and stones’ my arse.
Adding to the general good wishes. You don’t need external validation though to give you worth. You’re an innately valuable person who people are glad to know. The reason people are wishing you well is because we all see that.
@SFHC
Mayday! Maaayyyydaaayyyy! Haha. I think those lines are forever stuck in my head now.
@Alan
@ Gert
Stop digging. I’m charitably assuming that you are merely inept when it comes to effective social conflict in a social justice context.
I don’t think anyone is missing that context.
What they are emphasizing is that context does not matter because your strategic choice of insult has social “splash damage”. Your attempts to deflect criticism ignores the fact that they get to complain about that splash damage. Insults are fine in social conflict, but they must be carefully chosen to apply to the individual being insulted (and relevant to the bad characteristics of the person for best results).
It does not. That you are willing to indirectly shame yourself for strategic social gain does not remove the fact that you also made being overweight a shameful thing for others here.
Nothing more TO YOU. You don’t get to choose how others reasonably feel about the use of physical weight as an insulting characterization, and you don’t get to tell them to stop being bothered by your implicit addition of other people to your choice of insults.
It’s not a matter of anyone having to ask them. It’s a matter of the fact that you used a personal characteristic that applies to them in a manner that keeps that characteristic a socially shameful thing. They get to respond to that very real connection.
SFHC:
That just doesn’t make any sense at all.
Mock me for being an MRA??? Can you even hear yourself?
Great way of trying to alienate someone who is on your side of the fight against MRA/Man-O-Sphere! Way to go! Any REAL MRAs reading this must be laughing their heads off!
I’ll leave you to it for now.
If I come back on some other thread I expect more of the same treatment because on this issue you’re incapable of seeing reason and prefer to act as petty and vindictively as those you claim to despise.
That’s quite a strategy, just there… Good luck with it.
