I’m not sure what accounts for this, as the ones that get lots of upvotes seem pretty much identical — in the awfulness of their messages and the incompetence of their design — to the ones that got no love from the MGTOW masses.

Before “Feminism,” Women were Effeminate and Likeable.
I used to be That Breck Girl back in the early 1960s. My hair always looked great, I was always smiling, and I was endlessly (some said relentlessly) effeminate and likable. But hello! I was surrounded by gorgeous, smiling military cadets. Why wouldn’t I smile!
Then along came the men who discuss — at great length — going their own way. They, dear reader, are not gorgeous. And they do not smile.
These days — these sad, dreary days — my hair is flat. I never smile. Effeminate? That’s for guys. Likable? That’s for happy women. My only hope is that someday soon these men who discuss the theory of going their own way will put it into practice.
Until then, my hair and I will be in the corner, sulking.

Feminism can be dated at least to Wollstonecraft in the 1700s, but let’s only go as far as the Suffrage Associations in the US circa the 1860s+70s. So WesternWomen^TM have been so mannish as to be undesirable to straight dudes for nearly 150 yrs? That’s your thesis there, Overalls? Sure ya don’t wanna run the numbers on that one again?

The person I started an LP channel with is from Edmonton, so you can imagine he’s not too thrilled with the situation either. I’ve been seeing the pictures coming out of there, and reality always manages to be more terrifying than any sort of fiction I’ve ever seen.

One wonders why a self-professed MGTOW seems so completely incapable of actually doing so. It’s a bit sad, really.
I used to live in Alberta, and I’m horrified by the situation in Fort Mac. Amazed that no one has been killed. Hopefully they can get it under control over the next couple of days, if the weather co-operates. There’s bound to be more fires in western Canada this year, the last 2 winters were so dry.

I am in AnTir, yes! And, well… the fire is terrible, but we get forest fires every year. They just don’t often come close to cities, and even then they do every few years. Slave Lake is still rebuilding.
It’s horrible, but we have systems to deal with this sort of disaster. Not our first time to the rodeo!

Its cute that they think that America doesn’t have a class system (which is what I presume they were trying to think of, when talking about monarchs).
This just reminds me of “Homer’s Phobia” when he was afraid Bart was gay and said to Marge “I hope you realize this is all your fault. I mean, do you have to be so effeminate around the boy?”

I think it’s a clumsy attempt at cognitive behavioral therapy. They’re trying to persuade themselves how loathsome the women they can’t have are, so they’ll feel less bad about rejection. So they slap together the most hideous fonts, poor grammar, bad design, and disgusting imagery they can find, in the hopes that people who view their memes will also mentally link women with heartworms and 72-point Peignoir Extra Ugly. “Women! You aren’t worth nice fonts!” goes the intended message.
Except that the actual message that comes across is “The inside of my head is a jumble of repulsive, incoherent, hateful thoughts, I’m lazy and slapdash, and I have no respect for anybody else.” The memes reveal nothing about women – but a lot about Ovendice.
I’ve stopped wishing these guys would step on Legos because honestly, that isn’t nearly as bad as the self-created hell they live in. They’re doomed to spend their lives obsessively dwelling on the very thing they hate the most. Imagine waking up every morning and going through the day with a head full of screaming straw-feminists and dripping red horror fonts. Worse yet, nobody else believes this great “secret” they think they’ve uncovered about feeemales. The more they jump up and down screaming about it, the more the rest of the world edges away (or laughs at them) and goes on having happy, awesome friendships and love affairs with women.
I just realized MGTOW have it backwards. They’re not going anywhere. It’s the rest of the world that’s going its own way. Far away from them.
I find it humorous that these guys cry about women being “sluts”, when in fact they appear to desperately want to get laid.
The Madonna/whore thing really does get tiresome, and highlights that women are a commodity. Treating women like human beings is still unfortunately a radical notion.

Some of my mates work with James Lovelock (the Gaia chap) and they explained forest fires to me thusly.
Trees produce oxygen. When there’s a lot of trees in an area there’s more oxygen around, so it’s easier for fires to start and they burn longer. Then the burning lowers the oxygen level so there’s less chance of a fire starting or burning as long. That gives the opportunity for trees to grow. These trees grow and therefore oxygen levels rise and the cycle starts again. Basically it’s a negative feedback mechanism that keep the oxygen level within particular bounds.
Also, something about sequoias.
Not sure how valid that model is, although intuitively it does seem to make sense.
Only one way. Most of the dice you can buy in hobby shops actually are loaded in the sense that some numbers are disproportionately more likely. They’ve got numbers or pips carved out of the material, and these remove unequal mass from each side. The makers can compensate for this or they can opt to not do that to save money.
Casinos can get in serious legal trouble if their dice are not strictly fair, so they make very certain to avoid any such issues.
The model I’ve heard is that it’s about the leaf litter. Earth has a pretty much constant oxygen percentage in its atmosphere, so a forest fire won’t really impact it. Locally, maybe for a bit but not years. Over time, though, a forest will accumulate a lot of leaves, fallen branches, etc. Then when it’s hot this all dries out and becomes an enormous firetrap, and in California this is exacerbated by lots of oily scrub that in summer is pretty much one spark away from burning. Lots of trees actually survive wildfires because their bark isn’t easily ignited and their leaves and the litter burn away before it can catch. Some trees actually depend on wildfires; certain pinecones are sealed shut with a coating that burns away in a fire.
Then humans decided to aggressively suppress any fire as soon as possible and it ruined everything and let leaf litter build up and allowed for much more intense fires. It is now policy to let them burn if they don’t threaten lives or property and trigger controlled burns outside of the height of fire season to clear things out.
@Scildfreja- Hi from Atlantia! nothing seems to be on fire here currently, but we did have a train full of nasty chemicals derail…mostly it’s just damp.
I must say, I love the curse of “may you step on all the legos” (although as a Brit we tend to say “lego” or “lego bricks”). My nearly two year old nephew is really into filling shoes with lego, it doesn’t really hurt but it is annoying. Anyway I have totally stolen this curse and will make use of it when vexed online.
