So a Redditor goes into the Men Going Their Own Way subreddit.
I realize that sounds a bit like the start of a crappy joke. But it’s true. Earlier today, the guy in question popped into the MGTOW subreddit with a couple of questions.
Now, I don’t know if AwYisBreadCrumbs is trolling or not, but there are few things you can say to a MGTOW that will offend him more than this seemingly reasonable question.
If these guys really are all enjoying their awesome bachelor lifestyles, unburdened by the demands of marriage and parenthood and all of that, you might expect them to share some of the details with their MGTOW pals: Here I am rock climbing in Colorado. Here I am meeting rescued Orangutans in Borneo. Here’s the backyard roller coaster I built with my own hands. Here’s my podcast about Elvis impersonators. Here’s my model train set. I dunno, something. Anything.
Nope! Oh sure, once in a long while one of the regulars will make a post about his motorcycle. But roughly 99% of the posts in r/MGTOW are complaints about women.
And that’s the way the MGTOWs like it, as they made very clear with their overwhelmingly hostile responses to AwYis’ (possibly) innocent question. Here are some of them:
define cool sh*t. Only a woman needs to ask to be entertained.
s*ck my d*ck
There are already subreddits focusing on whatever it is you want to talk about. MGTOW is about enjoying the decline.
Your post sounds like you are concerned that mgtow have the audacity to talk about women. Gtfo quickly
Take your ass on out
you put expectations on MGTOW. There aren’t any, that’s why we all went this way.
Sorry, dude. There are expectations when it comes to MGTOWs. Anyone who’s ever spent a more than a few minutes watching a MGTOW video, or reading a MGTOW forum, or encountering MGTOWs in any other context quickly learns to expect MGTOWs to be the hyperbolically misogynistic manbabies that they in fact are.
So if you’re looking for cool model train layouts on Reddit, you’re going to have to go to r/modeltrains, where I found this:
Y’know, all this makes me think of a scifi/cyberpunk plot, of a memetic version of rabies. It’s a bit like BLIT (note: the story, which is linked in this article, deals with racism and half of it is from the racist’s point of view, so it has his gross thoughts shown), except it doesn’t work instantly, just accumulating per exposure and then boom… Maybe I should ponder this idea some more.
Arctic Ape:
I had to do this too (read the Finnish version of it at school), and it just totally failed to click with me. One of the reasons for that was probably because all slang was translated to slang of its time (1961 translation). Second, since it had been written in 1951, USA, a lot of things in it felt so out of place that it was hard to visualize things in my mind, plus a serious feeling of unreliable narrator. Third, speaking of the narrator, total fail in connecting with Holden, who felt like a total BLEEP. It was like “I get to deal with self-centered assholes day in and day out in school and real life, do I have to spend my time reading about them too?”
I just saw this Lego train the other day. It’s great for three reasons:
1. It’s a train.
2. Cats love it.
3. It’s Lego for MRAs to step on.
Migtoes are narcisists waging an eternal crusade to bring women fully back under their control. They will never go they own way. They just want women to worship the ground they walk on.
@kupo
Cute cat. Kinda looks like he’s sporting a moustache. I’m imagining him sounding like an old-school English gentleman who ”harumphs” a lot and likes to talk about hunting expeditions he’s been on. I assume that cat is male, but please correct me otherwise.
@epitome : that being said, it’s “club” who is masculine. If one label it “association” it suddenly become femine. Association being a deminine word may explain why they do nothing of their life, since they may fear to become their archenenemy if they dared associate.
French is very funny about gender. My prefered one is that the most common (and a bit vulgar) way to designate the male sexual organe is a feminine word, while the most common words for breasts are both masculine.
I want all the train sets!
@Skiriki
THANK YOU. I loathed Catcher In the Rye. I did not like being stuck with Holden Stupid Caulfield for a whole book. I feel bad about how much I hate that kid.
@makroth
He’s a male kitty, you are correct. I also imagine he harumphs a lot, especially when I got up, thus forcing him to move over slightly, right before I took that picture.
Maybe he’s one of the Magi Granting Three Ominous Wishes?
You will not find an internet group more emotionally attached to women than MGTOW.
My dad and uncle were model train hobbyists. Definitely went their own way, if you want to call it something.
My parents threw a shit fit when the Lit3A teacher had our class read CitR. Their objections were the cuss words (they were very religious). I didn’t get to read it until I was 25, when a friend of mine claimed it was “the best book ever”.
Um.
My parents really did do me a favor back in high school.
(It was also telling that every single book but one in Lit class centered around men except one, which was about a filthy Puritan whore.)
@Thaag
You didn’t read the handmaid’s tale or to kill a mockingbird in lit class? Those were some of my favorites
And… I think you maybe missed the point of The Scarlet Letter, it was, in spite of being written by a guy, pretty damn feminist in its underlying message for its time.
For good angsty teenage girls, how about Ghost World? Early ScarJo and lots of sarcasm.
I actually liked Catcher in the Rye, but maybe that’s because I myself tended toward the angsty in my pre-wall, carefree, unaware of the cock carousel, MGTOW or PUA stuff days.
Re: not liking A Catcher in the Rye – This reminds me of a discussion I read on Goodreads about what book was the most overrated. Some people said that one, others said The Lord of the Rings, Ulysses, The Bible, etc., etc., and the discussion got pretty heated.
Then one person said, no, the most overrated book is Everybody Poops – WE ALREADY KNOW THAT.
The memory still makes me smile. 😛 (Yes, there is a children’s book called Everybody Poops. That is a thing that exists. And it’s quite charming.)
kinda reminds me of how Ive never seen GGers just chill & discuss games they love but Ive seen feminists do that a lot
kids who are potty training LOVE that literal shit
@IP that was fun 🙂
Not a model, but my favourite train film:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7GXWuTwkF8
At the railway museum in York they had this in one of those pod things that makes you feel like you’re moving (very bumpy over the points)–a friend and I did it once and we were screaming and hanging on for dear life.
Don’t forget to keep track of the station clocks!
@Sarity
Eeee that is the best! I am saving it. For posterity.
“Go, then!” “I’m gone!”
As a hellenic polytheist, I have to agree.
To catch up with the discussion (I’m the perpetual late anime character with toast in mouth in these threads), I actually enjoyed CitR. I sympathized with Holden, but maybe that’s just because I’m always surrounded by mentally ill teens… well, and because I am one.
On the subject of people doing cool shit in their spare time:
Because I’m into photography stuff, the one that always comes to mind for me is this guy who made his own machine to produce photographic film:

He straight-up has his own, personal film factory in his house!
Oooh, are we talking about hobbies now? I’ve gotten into watching some Korean and Japanese model-making videos. I’ve also watched videos about Re-Ment, which are like blind-box miniatures that come in sets and stuff.
Here’s one From “Hamster Miniature Workshop 2” (which I always thought their name was HMS2, which sounded like a battleship or something to me until I Google Translated the page. 😛 ), which I’m pretty sure I’ve posted one of their videos before.
And no need to worry about translations here, they work in silence (and they’ve translated their captions for supplies), so it’s super soothing!
David, that is amazing! I love that cartoon and this site and now I’m buying the t-shirt.
Being desperate for affection and attention drives people away. Feeling entitled to sex drives women away. Being a self pitying shit sack is not a good way to make friends and influence people, which is why none of the people who spew poison on reddit are going to make any positive changes in their life. Not until they turn off their computers and work on themselves, rather than sharing and re-enforcing their toxic views with each other.
