Today, a look at the very terrible “Feminist Nazi” meme, in which this shouty lady has been made into the mouthpiece of feminism at its most hypocriticalist.
I know, that “ist” at the end of “hypocritical” really shouldn’t be there, but somehow “most hypocritical” didn’t seem strong enough.
The doofuses spreading these memes around the internet — the ones featured in this post have been shared anywhere from a couple of hundred to more than 166,000 times — apparently seem to think that Ms. Feminist Nazi offers quite the indictment of feminism.
But there are a couple of teensy problems with that idea. First, a lot of the alleged hypocrisies aren’t actually hypocrisies; many of them are just sort of puzzling. Second, NO FEMINIST HAS EVER SAID ANYTHING LIKE THE STUFF IN THESE MEMES.
Let’s begin with this evil feminist who, like the identical looking evil feminist in the meme above, demands that men pay for everything. This is apparently rule #1 of Feminist Club.
Apparently Rule #2 of Feminist Club has to do with pulling chairs out and holding doors open:

I’m glad the meme-maker specified this was at a dance club, because otherwise I would have assumed it was, I dunno, at a gas station?
You know how MRAs always insist that the wage gap is a “myth?” Well, not so much, if the existence of the wage gap comes in handy for making a meme attacking women.
But apparently these same dude who think women screw their employers over by getting pregnant also sort of think that they shouldn’t be able to get abortions.
That’s about the only thing I was able to get out of this baffling meme:
Is there a single women on earth today, or in all of human history, who honesty believes that they are entitled to never face any kind of hardship?
And now it’s time for a message from Upside-Down Backwards Land:
As a formerly skinny kid who only got fat as an adult, I will only note that I pretty much never got any shit from anyone about my weight … until I started making fun of MRAs online.

The council didn’t even have dedicated staff until recently. It was originally staffed by designees from other executive-branch agencies. The Department of State doesn’t need Farrell’s advice and I don’t find it plausible that it would reach out to Farrell for any reason.
I don’t know how that info got on Wikipedia. There is no citation for that particular assertion, and my guess would be that there is no citation that can be produced that doesn’t rely on Farrell’s own words. My information is that Farrell approached the WH about creating his own council. That proposal has been rejected. There is not one, and will not be one in the Obama administration. Their proposal was laughable. They apparently didn’t realize that they’d have to step up their game by a boatload if they had a snowball’s chance of being taken seriously, and treated it like they were going to make an AVFM auxiliary. A group of neighborhood kids proposing that the White House make a council on small businesses in the lemonade industry would have been more professional about it.
These memes do nothing to challenge the stereotype that these kinds of men don’t actually KNOW any women…

First you need to get it online using an image hosting service. I use imgur. Once it’s online, you usually need to right-click (or on Android hold your finger on the screen) and select open image so that the only thing in the Web browser is your image. Then copy the url from the address bar and paste it into your message on a line by itself. It should automatically embed as long as the image address is on its own line and ends in an image format (.jpg, .gif, etc.).
That last meme is just ‘you are a feminist therefore you should be raped’
Of course it’s ‘just one person’ making this meme as numerous antifems will point out, but how many dya reckon feel this spite, share this meme?

@bluecat, yay First Dog! One of the best things about his move to The Guardian has been the massive audience reach, compared to before. He used to be published on a smaller, paywalled (but very good) news site called Crikey.

Since we are on this topic, is anyone willing to tell me how to embed a video link? If it’s too complicated for the thread perhaps a good link that explains it? I’m pretty new to forum posting myself.
Regarding animal rescues, my wife has a pet parakeet, which pretty much rules out kitties and puppies for us. However, we have adopted two bearded dragons from Friends of Scales here in Chicago, and they were incredibly helpful (they even drove the first one’s aquarium to my house).
I’d share pics, but haven’t signed up for anything other than facebook. Would a link to facebook pics work?

Sounds like you just have to go there in person and talk to people to get an idea of a shelter ‘s quality. And I guess take a look at the animals and see if they look happy/healthy.
