Woah! I wasn’t expecting this, but here it is. I have not yet watched it. But I imagine I will have some further thoughts when I do, because, holy crap, it’s Davis Aurini’s version of the Sarkeesian Effect!
Sorry, I mean, his version of a, no, wait, it’s not a version of anything, it’s his “separate independent work that should not be considered a ‘version’ of The Sarkeesian Effect or derivative of it,” as a title card in the “film” explains,
Even though it’s, you know, about Anita Sarkeesian and her “effect,” and even though it uses “footage originally filmed for use in The Sarkeesian Effect.”
That’s Aurini’s story and he’s sticking with it.
Anyway, I’m opening up a bag of popcorn and watching it. Join me, will you?
EDIT: Ok, I’m thirty seconds in and already tacky as hell graphics and badly recorded voiceover! This is gong to be good. By which I mean terrible.
EDIT 2: Ok, it’s not quite 4 minutes in and I’m getting bored. Damn. That’s what happened with that other totally unrelated film too.
David –
I don’t think I’m gonna watch it, but is it in any way different from Owen’s movie? I’m curious to hear what (besides the title card at the beginning) Aurini did to make this not-version stand out from Owen’s film.
I have seen the honey badger interview already on the ‘rough draft’ months ago but I am still boggling at the fact that they are just all piled on to a scruffy looking sofa together and they can’t stop talking over each other. And the sound is terrible on them particularly. And of course they are talking shit and nodding sagely at each other as if they are dropping incredible philosophical bombs.
And Jordan’s bloody trainer is still creeping into shots, did that not get mocked enough months ago?
Let me know if/when Foldable Human will be doing a live tweet of it.
To me Aurini is entertaining only in small doses. I’ll wait for the highlights.
Sorry, I got distracted by that cute orange kitty tilting its head at you sideways on one of the random old entries. Never fails to make me chuckle each time I see that goofy widdle face. What’s going on, again?
… The much-touted ANIMATED TITLE SEQUENCE is literally a PowerPoint slideshow and its purple background is literally Photoshop’s default cloud filter.
Wow. Just… Wow.
Kat, as I watch it now, Owen’s hands are making an unscheduled appearance, fiddling with a pen.
Adding to the comedy of the Honey Badger segment is the fact that one of the three on the couch has since quit and accused her former comrades of being ripoff artists.

Margaret, Aurini’s is a bit more obviously right-wing, but otherwise not all that different. He uses clips from a lot of the interviews that Owen already used, including some of the same segments that were in SE.
Watch how quickly he vacillates between trying to justify and also downplay Sarkeesian as the central subject of the documentary. It seems he’s finally realized that it was super transparent as a hit-piece and wants to re-frame it as part of a bigger narrative, but has basically zero other material.
“This is a documentary about Anita Sarkeesian and all of the terrible things she’s done. Except it isn’t about her; she’s just another (prominent) face in the crowd, which she is in control (but not the leader) of.”

I may be missing something here, but showing news footage of anti-union laws being passed isn’t very convincing evidence of a global Marxist conspiracy.
FFS. I made it to the 1:01 mark. “Obscure YouTube” Sarkeesian?? Check the effin mirror, Urini.
It’s like watching an Enlightenment era French salon. Except tedious and full of nonsense.
Jordan saying “mmyep” at regular intervals has also been left in every single interview, and it often sounds like he’s saying “miaow.”
God, I can’t watch this sober. PowerPoint + Photoshop filters = I’m having flashbacks to my 8th grade homework.
I put more effort into my one-off joke ‘shops, for fuck’s sake.
And we wonder why Our Weenie didn’t graduate film school. THAT’s why.
So does this mean there’s a third official website?
Oh god no. Not right now, at least. I’ll have to watch/read a review later.
So looking forward to watching this tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
I just looked into a few minutes somewhere in the middle and it was basically “MARXISTS! MARXISTS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!111”.

The best part of “Lust in the time of headache” was the comments section – comedy gold from the trolls! Looks like this one’s being moderated (but fweee speeech!), either that or its a love letter from Bernard Chapin who seems to also have an obsession with Owen’s breathing and grunting, but that’s probably a manifestation of the manosphere’s latent homoerotic tendencies.
Isn’t this the bathtub guy? Or was it some other gross dude in a bathtub bitching about whatever the hell rambling nonsense…?
“She herself isn’t that interesting” he says, in his full length documentary about her.
… Is this just gonna be an hour and twenty minutes of anti-anita youtube videos stitched together with no concept of a documentary-wide narrative?
Also, is the entire video going to be seconds of anita interspersed with minutes of droning dialogue?
Just asking so I can mentally prepare myself. Or just give up and find something better to do with my time…
Oh. My. God. Davis just brought up Anita complaining about Princess Peach being a protagonist (after saying it’d be great to have more female heros), but cut the video excerpt short literally just before she explained why she was complaining.
How Peach’s powers were all based on emotions, because women.
And no comment on what was left out. Davis just shows Anita saying “but don’t get too excited, because the rest of this game is a trainwreck,” and then moves on.
Good lord is that obviously disingenuous.
“They call themselves the Social Justice Warriors.”
Ah ha ha. No. What? Since when?
The opening talking about outright lies, lies by omissions, and so on has me on the lookout for when (and how often) Aurini uses them.
Same here. I put more effort into that joke shop of Aurini dressed as a scantily-clad woman hugging Roosh’s leg.
[EDIT: I tried linking it for the curious, but WordPress isn’t playing nice, so fuck it. Also, I can order that image on a calendar, and the thought makes me laugh SO HARD.]
OH MY GOD HE ACTUALLY DID IT?
Tomorrow morning, first thing! IIiihihihihihihihi
