Trump’s Brownshirts? Trump supporters threaten to take up arms, form militias

This election gets scarier by the day. It seems only a matter of time before someone gets shot. And if there are going to be shots fired, more than a few supporters of Donald Trump want to make sure they’re the ones doing the shooting.

On Twitter, and elsewhere online, Trump supporters are talking openly about bringing guns to political rallies and polling places. Some are actually taking steps to form some kind of Trump militia.

The living sack of human garbage that is Matt Forney recently Tweeted these suggestions for fellow Trump lovers:

https://twitter.com/basedmattforney/status/708811928664195072

https://twitter.com/basedmattforney/status/708516727190065153

Unfortunately, Forney isn’t the only Trump supporter talking about guns.

Meanwhile, discredited right-wing hack “journalist” Chuck C. Johnson posted the alarming picture below on Facebook, promising to “use the Second [amendment]” against  — that is, to shoot — anyone he think is threatening Trump’s right to free speech , even though he personally supports Ted Cruz.

chuckjohnson

Johnson took the post down, but not before it was screenshotted by Charles Johnson, a non-discredited journalist who unfortunately, and rather confusingly, shares the same first and last name as the dude with the red hair and beard pictured above.

Other Trump supporters think that their candidate needs to have a somewhat more organized army of Second Amendment fetishists to protect him from the “bad people” he talks about so much.

Like, say, a militia.

https://twitter.com/FoxLegChair/status/708520806716837888

Hire them? I’m fairly certain most “militia” members would be happy to do it for free. Earlier this month, in fact, the FBI arrested the co-chair of Veterans for Trump in New Hampshire on an assortment of charges related to his alleged participation in the armed standoff at Bundy Ranch in Nevada in 2014.

But hiring or otherwise working with Bundy’s militia may not be necessary, as Trump may soon have an unofficial militia of his own.

Yesterday, RT.com reports, a new Twitter account announced the formation of something called “The Lion’s Guard,” describing itself as

[a]n informal civilian organization dedicated to protecting the safety and security of innocent, peaceful Trump supporters from violent Far-Left agitators.

While the group would remain unarmed, the organizer pledged, it would  be “willing to forcefully protect people if need be.”

Whoever was behind the Twitter account took it down within hours, citing threats.

But in that brief stretch of time, RT.com reports, the account was able to pick up 500 followers and a good deal of support from other Trump fans on Twitter, including many on the far right who presumably already own the requisite brown shirts and swastika armbands.

Meanwhile, over on clickhate tabloid The Daily Stormer (partially archived here), the regulars are if anything even more enthusiastic about The Lion’s Guard than their counterparts on Twitter — though some of them seem to have forgotten the bit about the group being unarmed.

On 4chan’s Trump-loving, fascist-friendly /pol/ board (archived here), some are talking about trying to resurrect The Lion’s Guard on their own.

Twitter: twitter.com/realLionsGuard Chat: chatstep.com/#Lions_Guard The Lion's Guard has been recreated to help protect Trump supporters from the violence which has been growing over the past few days. The Lion's Guard is formed to be an unarmed, nonviolent civilian organization dedicated to protecting the safety of peaceful, nonviolent Trump supporters from the far-left, or others who would want to do them harm. The original creator was forced to delete his account due to threats against his children. Therefore, it only makes sense to bring in as many Trump supporters as we can, so not only can we protect people in public and over the internet but we can also protect ourselves

Whether or not The Lion’s Guard is resurrected, by its founder or by sympathetic Trump fans on 4chan or somewhere else, it’s clear that the idea of a “Trump militia” has an appeal to many of the orange-faced demagogue’s fans — and not just Daily Stormer readers posting pictures of a well-armed Pepe.

Writer Sarah Kendzior, who spent many hours with Trump supporters while waiting in line to see The Donald on his recent visit to St. Louis, noted in a piece for the Guardian that

Several Trump fans vowed that the next time, they would come armed. Some warned that if Trump was not chosen by Republicans, a militia would rise up to take him to power.

On Twitter, other Trump fans are making similarly chilling “predictions” and threats.

https://twitter.com/BLang71/status/709123350233280512

https://twitter.com/DXint/status/709151004030341121

https://twitter.com/_America_First/status/708819001959276545

Normally, I would dismiss this sort of talk as empty blathering. But this time this talk is attached to a dangerous demagogue who’s managed to rile up a very noisy minority of disaffected white people, millions strong, many of them already heavily armed.

If even a fraction of those people “march on DC” or anywhere else, the results could be bloody. I really hope that things aren’t heading where they seem to be heading, because that’s a very dark place indeed.

He’s going to get people killed. It’s only a matter of time. I’m terrified of this election if he gets the nomination.

If Trump was a rational adult and not a temperamental child, he would own up to the ways his campaign has been riling up his supporters and fomenting violence. Of course that would take some thought and introspection on his part. This song sums up my feelings about der Donald. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZlFBSRrSR0

You realize all these people are talking about self defense right? I mean the leftists were the ones who showed up at the rally to cause trouble. If anyone was a “brownshirt”, it was the protesters who tried to shut down the speech.

Of-fucking-course they are. I very truly hope that they are talking an intimidation game, and not willing to actually start shooting people.

Remember those evil white honkie devil TERRORISTS who occupied a BLM building in Oregon? They killed a grand total of 0 people. They fire a grand total of 0 bullets, even despite being shot at by the police.

Maybe you lot would be better off worrying about the most dangerous demographic instead of the least dangerous. You know, the 1% of the general population which is responsible for around half of all violent crime.

Trump knows exactly what he’s doing, and is doing it on purpose. That’s why he always doubles down, and will never never acknowledge any wrongdoing on his part.

Milo Yiannopoulos is in Alaska. Idiot. And putting quotation marks on the word “journalist” doesn’t make him any less of a journalist than you. And besides, these Trump supporters are being threatened with violence then they have the right to defend themselves. Eat some concrete and harden the fuck up

The one promoting Trump as a way to avoid oligarchy was kind of funny. The rest… ugh.

The left declared that it would use intimidation and violence to stifle free speech? I must have missed that, when an entire political ideology decided to speak. Can anyone clue me in to what he’s talking about? I think it’s possible he’s gone dyslexic with his directions; those tactics sound strangely like what the far-right likes to do…

This is really scary.
Not just the guns but why is fascism so popular? I know far-right politics has risen in popularity recently, but in Europe this is due to immigration. Is it the same?
If so, why do they also hate feminists, “SJWs”, transgender people, Jews, African Americans and anyone else who isn’t cis male/female, white, straight, Christian, right-wing and whatever else they decide? In Europe it’s just immigrants, who are often also cis white straight Christians. Others aren’t subjected to the same hostility. It’s bizarre and scary. Or are these bigots just in the minority and jumping on the bandwagon because they can?
In the UK people are generally far angrier at the fat cat bankers who destroyed the global economy and big businesses who avoid tax. This has increased support for the left, hence Jeremy Corbyn becoming leader of the Labour Party. Our conservatives are farther to the left anyway.

Hey, before using content on stories.. Learn the context?

Seriously, making judgments and making fabulous accusations before knowing the context of someone’s actions isn’t cool.
Remove this story.
With regards to Milo Yiannopoulos.

I agree! Trump supporters have no right to defend themselves against the violent assaults of SJWs. The institutional privilege of white racism alone means no white person deserves to live! They should be happy a black person is ending their blood-soaked tyrannical legacy!

I sadly have to agree with Johanna here: there is no way this will end well. If Trump manages to get the presidency, these people will see their beliefs vindicated and I have no doubt they’ll then be encouraged enough to actually rise up in arms against minorities, laws be damned. On the other hand, if he loses, they are quite likely to seek revenge on anyone they perceive as guilty, and not just on Twitter.

Really scary stuff, indeed; so much hatred festering all around the globe in these times. I don’t want to sound too grim, but… at this point, I find it hard to discount with 100% certainty the possibility of a Third World War in the near future.

Thanks, Trump, get irrational people all riled up and more blinded to the fact that their behavior and distorted views are a huge part of the problem. Thanks for dividing the country even further – helping these crazy sorts view fellow Americans as an enemy for not sharing their views – while still only being just a stupid candidate. (Wtf horror would you cause as an actual politician, let alone president??) Are people going to have to be worried to go to the polls?

This crap just makes me more and more disappointed with people in this country. Sure there’s bound to be some like this, but the amount of them is very depressing and worrying.

To think what we could actually accomplish as a country if at least 3/4th of these nutters were rational human beings. 🙁

Love all the Trump loving dipshits that showed up. I guess they can’t bear someone criticizing the big putrid orange.

If these fuckwits try their little uprising, I think they’re going to be very unpleasantly surprised at what their chance against a real army is like.

Trump is the best thing to happen to America since Jimmy Carter.

He will lose in the general election and take the Republicans with him! They will lose the Senate and maybe even the house. Depending on how much he taints the Republican party, they might even lose some state legislators.

His loss will force the Republicans to change their strategies. They’ll have to start being more welcoming to minorities and finally drop the racist vote and stop using Nixon’s southern strategy.

Trumps coming electoral defeat at the hands of Hillary or Bernie will be the best thing to happen to America in decades.

@Walter – Assuming that yours is a serious statement and not trolling of the ‘lets see how many people I can get to agree with this statement’ variety, there are a lot of problems with your argument.

1. It assumes a peaceful election. I think that’s probably how it will go, but we can see rumblings from Trump supporters suggesting otherwise. Yeah, probably they’re just LARPing, but that remains to be seen.
2. It assumes that, even if the election should be run fairly, Trump still loses. I think this is the probable outcome of a Trump nomination, but it’s not the lock-in some people seem to think.
3. It assumes that if the Republicans lose, they agree with you for the reasons for their loss, rather than blaming it on Trump personally and carrying on the way they have been.
4. And this is the one that gets me the most, that any person harmed, harassed, assaulted or (God forbid) killed by the rising tide of bigotry fanned by Mr Orange is an acceptable loss in exchange for Democratic electoral primacy. It’s really not.

All in all, your argument seems to work along the lines of “Things will get worse before they get better. Wait, they’re getting worse now? Terrific! Better must be just around the corner.” It’s a very weird mix of cynicism and naivete, and maybe you ought to reconsider it.

Wow. Quite a lot of drive-by Trump fans came by.

Anyway. This is the funniest part of the post.

The USA citizens do NOT want Oligarchy.
Vote for Donald J. Trump, our last chance to restore the republic.

You don’t want an oligarchy, so you’re going to vote for the billionaire capitalist who got into Wharton because of familial connections and was given a few million dollars by his father to start up his business career? You’re going to vote for the guy who has many scam product like Trump University? You’re going to vote for the guy who is always bragging about how rich he is and accuses everyone who doesn’t like him of being jealous and unclassy?

Does this guy not know what oligarchy means? Or does he just have absolutely zero capacity for critical thinking.

The oligarchy thing…

Chump supporters: wonder why no-one bothers protesting a Ted Cruz rally, despite some very similar policies? Don’t be surprised if some of the people being baited shout back.

Sadly, this is the natural outcome to an election strategy based on riling up hateful bigots over the last 40 years.

Eventually, even know-nothing bigots realize they’ve been played and have gotten nothing they’ve been promised. I’d take greater schadenfreude in the GOP’s predicament were it not for my feeling that the monster they created is going to damage more than just their political party.

Re: The original photo

That’s incredibly gross.

Re: Everything else

Is it splitting hairs to suggest it’s more of a blackshirts situation than brownshirts? That Trump is more Mussolini than Hitler?

I realize there’s not much difference between different festering piles of shit in that if you’ve smelled one, you’ve smelled them all, but maybe we have more to learn from one situation than the other.

How in the actual fuck are they claiming “SJWs” are the violent ones?? Do they even read/watch the fucking news?!?!? Do they even hear themselves talk?!? People who care about social justice, and leftists in general, are some of the nicest people in the world. By design, leftists in general are nicer simply because of their policies, their ability to actually feel empathy, etc. And these far-right fascists? Not so much…

That’s not to say people on the left are perfect, or are never violent or never do wrong or aren’t capable of threatening people. If they do or have, that is despicable and I absolutely condemn it. But in general, which political party is least likely to cause harm to others? Far-right Nazis don’t care about others, they only care about themselves.

What are they even defending themselves against? How has the whole left threatened them with anything? They (a lot of internet Trump supporters, not all but a good many) are the ones constantly threatening to shoot people and/or cause them harm, and not just in a self-defense context.
