Finger-pointing stock-photo blonde lady: The MRA meme-maker muse?

Have we met somewhere before?
Have we met somewhere before?

Today’s Memeday Special: Angry blonde ladies. Strike that: Angry blonde lady.

Men’s Rights Activists and other antifeminists, as many of you have no doubt noticed, have a deep and abiding love for stock photos of hysterical women, which they use as illustrations for blog posts and YouTube videos as well as free-floating memes.

In a previous Memeday post, we examined the MRA obsession with stock photos of women with bullhorns. Here’s one more bullhorn-lady meme to add to the pile.

bull3

Apparently the supply of hysterical women stock photos can’t quite match the demand, and so MRAs tend to fall back on a few favorites. You’ve probably met this gal several times already:

yeller

But the all-time favorite stock-photo feminist — you might even consider her a sort of muse to MRA meme-makers — is a certain special blonde lady with a wagging finger and a comically furious face.

Because what better way to defeat feminism than by putting words in the mouth of a woman posing for a stock-photographer while pulling the most over-the-top angry face she can manage?

Yes, I think we HAVE met before
Yes, I think we HAVE met before

muse3 muse4

Sometimes the MRA mememakers contrast the hysteria of finger-pointy blonde lady with the cool rationality of some stock-photo dude.

muse5

And sometimes, for even greater impact, they replace her pointy finger with a gun.

musegun1 musegun2

It’s funny, but I don’t know of any feminist who much resembles this caricature. Indeed, the only real-world woman that finger/gun-pointy blonde lady reminds me of is this one, and she’s definitely not a feminist.

Janet Bloomfield, reporting from her bunker

If she ever emerges from her underground bunker, she might be able to get some work as a stock photo model.

Yeah, I could also block the e-mail address. But I’d prefer to remove myself, if that’s possible. I’d rather be on a radical mra or feminist site than here right now.

You definitely aren’t, but the funniest thing is that for us we have actually been relatively sweet and light to Jamie lol.

The article above is entirely about MRA memes, and they are all about feminists, not women. I couldn’t see any statements negative, about women in this page/article. I suspect it’s not there. Hence why I asked for an example.

Actually, the article is about MRA memes and how they relate to feminism (which they don’t). It’s a mockery of a fundamental misunderstanding of what feminism is by MRAs, hence, it’s mocking MRAs.

MRAs are misogynistic and their memes are based in their misogyny, therefore, we’re still making fun of misogyny.

But if you want another example, you could always check out the article that David wrote right after this one, True Nature of Women Explained in 72-word Red Pill Reddit Comment, which boils down to “Women always want a better man, and will always leave you because they’re fickle”.

Or, you know, you could pick another article from the site if you still can’t see the misogyny in this one.

Isn’t ‘MRA’s are misogynistic’ a form of bigotry – a negative stereotype that applies to a whole group (including people that say want parental rights or some such).

Isn’t that exactly like being ableist? Or anti-feminist? And totally hypocritical?

I actually don’t know or I would in fact tell you, Jamie. Is there an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the emails?

Nut jobs is about ableism? Jesus christ, I have bipolar, get over yourself.

And I have anxiety and depression, and many of the other commenters here also have mental illnesses.

So, get the fuck over yourself and abide by the comments policy like the rest of us.

I guess it’s time to accept our MGTOW overlords and their sexbot wives now.

Debating online with hostile people always is a waste of everyone’s time.

No it isn’t.

No.

Because MRAs aren’t an oppressed group, as much as they’d like to think they are. It’s pretty much the equivalent of saying “white people don’t season their food”. Hell, just look at the site you’re on.

When you’re being ableist you’re oppressing people who are already an oppressed group, people with mental illness. I’m going to assume you can figure that one out for yourself.

Tell you what, cupcake, if you can point out to me an MRA who isn’t a raging misogynist (and no, you can’t just say “FeMRAs exist!”, because they’re misogynistic too), I’ll admit I’m being a “hypocrite”.

EDIT: Aw, Jamie flounced. I’m so sad now, because Jamie thinks I’m mean.

I do have issues though, I keep them on my shelf like a proper comic collector.

Can we please have a troll that isn’t a sea lion some time? Was there a troll convention where they all decided their new schtick was going to be pretense of being civil and above the fray?

I’d even settle for a sad boner nice guy right now. That’s how low quality our trolls have been lately.

Not even, since “white” is at least a group you can’t choose to be a part of or not. MRAs are literally defined by their shared ideology.

Paradoxical Intention - Resident Cheeseburger Slut

@Katz: That’s fair.

Though, my point was that MRAs shared ideology is “Women are awful and the source of all my problems. Doubly so if they’re feminists.”

And my point about the “bigotry” was that MRAs aren’t oppressed, therefore it’s not bigoted to say they’re all misogynists.

I had to come back, and say this last piece.

“intolerance towards those who hold different opinions from oneself” – bigotry

or “In English the word “bigot” refers to a person whose habitual state of mind includes an obstinate, irrational, or unfair intolerance of ideas, opinions, ethnicities, or beliefs that differ from their own, and intolerance of the people who hold them”

Nothing about being oppressed in the word. Oppressed is no part whatsoever of bigotry. You can be bigoted towards anyone.

It’s very clear to me, that objectively, definately, this site is bigoted. It spreads a negative generalization about a whole group – that is the heart of hate.

There are loads of mens rights organisations that have nothing to say about women or feminists but focus on the issues for men. Look in the UK for example. They are all around. Try stop looking at ranty blogs for a second, and look at the real world. To say there are no men that care for mens issues, and instead they are all misogynists, is exactly the same as all feminists being misandrists.

I find your hatred, anger, hostility, hypocrisy and bigotry genuinely disturbing – honestly. And I pity you for the disturbed feelings that you cultivate towards others who’s views differ. That must be both a source of unhappiness, and alienating.

The irony that this occured on a web page supposedly parodying the parodying of visceral passive aggression of radical feminists, seems to be a self awareness lost on you all.

I know you will not be receptive to what I say. Cognitive dissonance demands you riducule and dismiss me, no matter how poorly considered my propositions are.

But I think this website is about hate. And I think you guys are about hate. And I think that’s sad and scary.

We tend to eviscerate our foes in debate here.

My cat just jumped 9 foot straight up in the air, knocked a gecko off the ceiling and devoured the helpless thing head-first before I had a chance to rescue it. Yeah, it reminded me a bit of what we do to trolls. *evil grin*

Paradoxical Intention - Resident Cheeseburger Slut

It’s very clear to me, that objectively, definately, this site is bigoted. It spreads a negative generalization about a whole group – that is the heart of hate.

Yup, we’re “bigoted” against people who shit on women and feminists, and even post evidence of them doing so.

But nah, we’re just “spreading negative generalizations about a whole group”, and that makes us evil, not the ones who are doxxing, harassing, and/or threatening women.

Seriously, take your dictionary definitions (and the condescending attitude) and shove it. You can’t just appeal to the dictionary and ignore the way the word has been used for decades to try and hurl it back at people who have legitimately done nothing wrong.

And no one said that there wasn’t, and not a one of us said that all MRAs don’t give a toss about men. I only said that they’re misogynists.

There are some MRAs out there who legitimately do care about men, the only problem is they want to shit on women to help them. So many of them do hit on topics that are extremely important (like male suicide, biased family courts, circumcision, ect), but the problem is instead of saying “This is the fault of toxic masculinity telling men to not seek help otherwise they’re ‘weak’/We’ve been conditioned to see women as naturally more nurturing than men, so many men don’t try for custody/We need to talk about bodily autonomy when it comes to babies”, they turn around and say “This is all feminism’s fault! The feminists refuse to help us!” or they use it as a cudgel to attempt to silence women and feminists when they are talking about things like women being denied mental health help because of sexist doctors and practices, or women trying to get out of abusive relationships, or female genital mutilation.

We are mocking MRAs, not organizations that are actively trying to help men in a way that isn’t shitting on women. In fact, most of those organizations stray from the term “men’s rights activist/activism” because of the kind of people we mock.

And those people we mock exist in your “real world”. So how about you come down from your moral high horse and take a look at the shit we deal with on a regular basis.

I find your hatred, anger, hostility, hypocrisy and bigotry genuinely disturbing – honestly. And I pity you for the disturbed feelings that you cultivate towards others who’s views differ. That must be both a source of unhappiness, and alienating.

It’s only alienating to people who sympathize with misogynists, so I’m pretty okay with that.

I’m still waiting for your example of an MRA that isn’t a misogynist, by the way.

The irony that this occured on a web page supposedly parodying the parodying of visceral passive aggression of radical feminists, seems to be a self awareness lost on you all.

Except, one, these aren’t “parodies”, the people who made these memes literally believe all feminists think like that, and two, no one here is guilty of “visceral passive aggression”. You’re just mad we didn’t capitulate to you immediately, weren’t immediately differential to you and didn’t treat you with kid gloves.

If you want to see “visceral passive aggression”, you’ll have to go elsewhere. We’re far nicer than a lot of other people might have been.

I could ask you if you’ve gone to the “other side” and presented the same argument there about how they should be better people, but I think we all know you haven’t and are just looking for moral superiority.

Stick the flounce this time, cupcake. You’re getting tedious.

One point I’d like to add to the contraception topic is that condoms and vasectomy are not the only forms of birth control available to men, they are just the only ones specific to male anatomy.

Whenever MRAs claim they are limited to only condoms and vasectomy I have pointed out that condoms are the only form of protection against STD, but that if one gets tested with their partner they can focus on contraception only. Then I ask why they don’t have the option of using the female products sold off the shelf next to the condoms in the family planning aisle, like contraceptive films, gels, lubricants, sponges, etc….?

Their initial reply is usually something like “because they’re made for VAGINAS, duh.” But then I’m like, “No , it’s for VAGINAL Intercourse, which is the only kind you really need contraception for. Really the only form of birth control men don’t have the right to is the prescription kind that alters the woman’s body and hormone levels. But if I can buy condoms even though I don’t have a dick, then why can’t you buy any of those other products and ask the woman to put it in immediately prior to sex?”

I wanted to post an update because I just checked into Quora. I had answered a question about male contraception options, pointed out all the available over-the-counter options that can be inserted immediately prior to vaginal intercourse, spermicides and female barriers like cervical caps and even supplied several inexpensive brands by name and common national chain stores where they could be obtained……..

And my answer was collapsed due to downvotes.
