Shortly after I posted my previous post on #TheTriggering — my take on the celebration of edge-lord obnoxiousness taking place today on Twitter — I got into a weird argument with one Twitterer who essentially ended up suggesting that my post on the subject was bad because #TheTriggering itself was less interesting than things like “10-hour can kicking marathons” and “watching dust collect.”
This seems a rather strange way to defend #TheTriggering, but it’s a hard proposition to argue with. Having spent several hours poking through that ridiculous hashtag, I can confirm that it is in fact much less interesting than watching dust collecting.
And that gave me the idea for a post. So here it is: Five extremely boring things that still manage to be more interesting than #TheTriggering.

Twitter makes you type in that stupid hash tag manually because Twitter is awesome. Maybe they’re hoping people will scree it up and use only one G. what a holes think they get to make up an event to be bigger a holes than usual AND make it last two days? Such a holes.
I checked one of the many twitter stats-gathering sites to get a sense of just how big #thetriggering actually is on twitter.
I was happy to see that #shoes has it beat by a comfortable margin.
ETA: nothing wrong with shoes! I was just glad to see that many random mundane words had a bigger reach.
Ah, this shall be hailed as an incredible victory for…..jerks? I guess? Yes! The only way they could be MORE victorious is if even #watchingpaintdry outpaced them.
