Happy “Why Isn’t There an International Men’s Day” Day!
This annual holiday, previously known as International Women’s Day, is traditionally celebrated every March 8 by angrily demanding “why isn’t there an International Men’s Day?” after refusing to Google “International Men’s Day” first, at which point you would discover that the holiday does in fact already exist. International Men’s Day is celebrated on November 19th, and every other day of the year.
Let’s check in on the “Why Isn’t There an International Men’s Day” Day celebrations, already ongoing on Twitter.

Apparently it's international women's day today.
Is there an international men's day too? Cause I smell inequality. :^)— 🃏 Liam 'Jester' Kinne-Hall 🃏 (@JesterTCG) March 8, 2016
What a load, lol. I guess il respect it, but is there an International Men's Day? I doubt it. https://t.co/oZgDyr532B

Oh, but the party’s only just getting started!
Whew!
Well, that’s enough partying for now. If you’ve got more stamina than me, don’t worry! There are literally dozens if not hundreds more celebratory “Why Isn’t There an International Men’s Day” Day Tweets on Twitter, and, as I write this, the day is only half over!
As partied out as I now am, I would feel remiss if I didn’t mention that there are some real party poopers on Twitter today, too. Like the guy who’s been responding to all those “why isn’t there an International Men’s Day” queries on Twitter with the boring answer that there is such a day, every November 19th.
Other party poopers are even meaner.

But I have to admit, this gal knows how to party:
I'm planning on spending International Men's Day on 19 November asking Twitter why there isn't an International Women's Day. Who's with me?

Well, now I know what I’m going to be doing on November 19th.
At least if I’m not too tired out from celebrating World Toilet Day, also on the 19th.
It’s actually a legit holiday, pushing for better sanitation worldwide on behalf of the 2.5 billion people on planet earth who do not have access to adequate toilet facilities, leaving them vulnerable to diarrheal diseases that, CNN notes, cause more deaths “than HIV/AIDS, malaria and measles combined.”
Half of those deaths are men and boys, so World Toilet Day will actually be of far more value to men that whatever nonsense the International Men’s Day bozos come up with.
EDIT: Ok, new plan for November 19th: “International Male” Day.

Welcome Damy. Feel free to jump into any conversation. There’s no protocol other than don’t be a jerk.
Is that bloke with the parrot Kevin Sorbo?
Off-topic: Did you guys see this joke?

Shingie can have a Paternity Ward when he can pass a bowling ball through his asshole.
I don’t get it.
EDIT: @Katz well joke
Richard Herring is the ultimate babe.
This is the most hilariously failed ‘gotcha’ they pull every single year.
I think it’s funny that they pretend that feminists would NEVER ALLOW an International Men’s Day to happen.
You keep on smacking that formerly person-shaped pile of straw, gents.
I don’t think International Men’s Day is really necessary, but I suppose it is a nice opportunity to celebrate the awesome dudes in our lives.

Looks like you’ll need to pick a pre-emptive date.
@Katz
Good one
@Orion: I think it’s a reference to ‘splainers.
I love all the people following up with #justwondering, #probablynot, etc.
It would have taken less time and energy to fucking Google it than to send their tweet.
I mean, these are the fuckwads who whine about “esjaydubyas and their culture of offense” and they couldn’t take the time to do the absolute minimum amount of research before joining in on a Twitter whinefest?
Which is why it’s obvious that this isn’t about them wanting a day for men, but that they don’t think women deserve one and they want to complain about it.
Pretty sure that’s some Class A trolling! But, if we look at it more seriously for a moment, if it’s a place where we can sequester asshole fathers-to-be and other male relatives who pester the midwives and obgyns, are jerks to the mothers, and generally try to make the birth all about them, I’m all for it! Preferable with security guards armed with tasers.
Because “not all men” are assholes in the maternity ward, but if they are, at least we can put them somewhere to be assholes together!
Of course, if we want to make it more inclusive (since we are likely to see many more trans men deliver babies in future), we could go with something like ‘Birth Ward’. There are already separate areas of the maternity ward depending on what stage the woman is at in labour and birth, and there is an actual birth suite. So why not stick with a more clinical label for the entire ward? Anyhoo…I may be rambling due to lack of sleep after a hot night here in Melbourne. And when I say ‘hot’, I refer to the weather.
The real irony of course is that none of the manbabies bleating today ever care about International Men’s Day EXCEPT on International Women’s Day.
Literally NONE of them actually celebrate it when it comes around.
Same principle as the “White lives matter too you know” movement!!
Ps – Happy Birthday Robert!!! I dont mind breaking of my womanly celebrations to send my wishes to a mere man!!!!
I wholeheartedly agree. In German we have “Entbindungsstation”, which literally translates to “delivery ward”.
I don’t think I’ve seen “maternity ward” used in too many hospitals these days: at least, not as an official label. Usually it’s “Labor & Delivery.” Or if it’s a Catholic hospital, there will be a reference to the Virgin Mary somehow; the last Catholic hospital where I worked called it “Third Maria.” It was on the third floor, and there was a pseudo-Renaissance statue of the Virgin Mary waiting for you as you got out of the elevator.
In the land our namesake International Women’s Day was traditionally celebrated, but informally the cognate day “for men” was Defenders of the Fatherland Day, which we here at Pavlov’s House notice was quietly missed. (And, no, since 1992 it’s not really been specific to one country technically but, well, we would get the idea if someone pointed that out.)
Well, my girlfriend is Russian and I’m American so we just pretty much consider it an anti-fascist holiday. And it’s not really gender-specific as I well know.
We’ll now go back into the apartment building and await what normally brings us here, which is any military-related posts.
@Katz
Best joke ever. 😀
ImaginaryErika stole half name.
Speaking of which, when’s the International Imaginary People’s Day?
Victorious Parasol:
Oh, that Maria. I was thinking Maria Sharapova.
Also, naming a maternity ward after Mary is really rather creepy.
I do want to see an international Non-Binary day. I think it’s only fair that if we have a Women’s day (and a Men’s Day) that we have one for NB peeps too.
As for the Maternity Ward thing, I would like to also see gender-neutral terms being applied to it, rather than the silly idea of a Paternity ward being built on just to make things “equal”.
I think that’d be much more cost-effective.
This year there are 365 men’s days, up from 364 last year.
Come on, men! If we push even harder we might be able to reach the 400 mark!
Er, how? Her role as Mother Of God is rather central, theologically speaking, and it’s a major aspect of her veneration.
@scaly lama
I totally hope they start calling it a birth ward. “Maternity ward” makes me sweat and shake. PTSD isn’t fun :/
