Hey black ladies! Catapult yourselves out of poverty by snagging a white nerdboy

Interests include: Star Trek
Interests include: Star Trek

Are you saddened by the racial divisions in the United States?

One Red Pill Redditor who calls himself Cosmicicarus has come up with a bold new plan that he claims could put a dent in urban poverty — and also help nerdy white dudes get some attention paid to their long-suffering you-know-whats.

His proposal: Low-income black women should eschew ebonics, cultivate a demure femininity, and start hanging out in comic book stores in order to catch the eye of lonely white nerdboys who are sick and tired of stuck-up white gals and their icky feminism.

Cosmicicarus — who describes himself as a “black guy” who got to know a lot of white dudes in college — sees his plan as so logical and sensible he’s kind of amazed that black women haven’t already figured it out on their own.

On one side of the racial divide, he writes,

there seems to be a growing minority of [white] guys who are either lonely or are fed up with what they see as a growing anti-male feminist culture hostile to them.

And on the other side, there are black women stuck working at dead-end jobs in the ghetto, seemingly destined to live out the rest of their lives in poverty.

“[I]t seems to me,”  Cosmicicarus notes,

that from a low income/poor young black girls perspective the best choice she could possibly make to move up to middle class status is to make herself desirable to and to actively pursue young white men straight out of college as they are preparing their careers and older divorced white men fed up with feminism.

And what an opportunity these gals have in front of them! All they have to do to take advantage of it is to completely make themselves over into every white nerdboy’s fantasy.

[W]hite guys that go on to be successful can be pretty nerdy (star trek, star wars, xbox fanboys, comic books, dungeons and dragons, cosplay, card games etc) A lot of women can see some of those things as loserish so many of these guys end up complaining that white women don’t show them any love. Seems like this is a great opportunity for black women to do for those guys what the white women won’t.

That’s right, ladies: you’re going to need to develop an interest in Star Wars and World of Warcraft. Or at least learn how to pretend that you’re interested.

Rather than wait for men to make the move as has been the historical norm low-income black women should actively hit on and ask out these sorts of guys out on dates. Go to where they hang out in college or go to comic book stores, gamestop etc… Those places can be like a buffet of single white guys.

But don’t be too forward, black ladies! Remember that these fellas want feminine women, not feminists!

BW should work on … developing the type of feminine qualities that these guys are looking for. The cute soft voiced girl who plays World of Warcraft type of thing.

And don’t scare off these sensitive young men by dressing like sluts! Think “sexy (but not too sexy) librarian.”

I think those girls should also dress in ways that hide their assets to encourage those mens imaginations. Instead of tight jeans I would think a librarian look might be more effective.

And for goodness sake, gals, try not to come across as irretrievably ghetto.

Issues that could make this unworkable would be if they spoke ebonics/ghetto as many people look down on this. Doing drugs and other illegal activities would be a big no-no. Having children already would also put a lot of guys off and finally being slutty or being with a lot of guys would probably scare off these types of guys.Thinking they might have to fight off angry black guys might also be an issue.

So it seems like black women have some work to do if they want to catch the nerdy white dudes of their dreams (or at least of Cosmicicarus’ dreams). What do the nerdy white dudes have to do to make themselves similarly attractive to black women?

Apparently nothing. They just have to remain white and nerdy with decent career prospects.

Cosmicicarus admits there may be some issues that could render his plan “unworkable.” For example, some black women might not want to completely change their identities in order to appeal to WoW-playing nerds. And some white dudes might be too darn racist to want to have anything to do with black women, even the WoW-playing sexy librarian types.

If the reaction of other Red Pill Redditors is any indication, this last issue may well prove insurmountable. Red Pill types love talking shit about white women and their allegedly snooty ways, but they hate black women even more.

“Have you actually met a low income black woman?” one Red Pill Redditor wrote.

The majority are rowdy, obnoxious and classless. So bad that the majority of middle class black men won’t even date them, let alone a man of a different race.

“Black women need to work on themselves before attempting to seduce anyone,” wrote another Red Piller.

Unfortunately the strong independent women who don’t need no man rhetoric has been internalized by many females in the black community. Especially due to the large obnoxious black woman trope that Hollywood and the media force feed everyone.

Yet another Red Piller was even more blunt, declaring simply that “we don’t want em.”

Any hopes that Cosmicicarus had of becoming a sort of Martin Luther King of opportunistic interracial dating seem to have been dashed.

@Feminace

Or maybe this fuckstick doesn’t realize that who “liking each other” thing is possible between BW/WM relationships.

I think you’re absolutely correct. But I would also add that these guys don’t seem to understand the concept of liking other people at all, in any context ever.

Where’s that poem from? I’m not brain enough today to explain more than that I like it, since sick, but… yes.

I am so tired of cracked. Those guys call theirselves feminists but justify those assholes all the time and even say “I understand, I used to be like that”. No, PUAs are not poor babies. Any decent human being see that what they teach is rape tactics. There’s no naivety in this.

I just saw a guy saying “I think the problem is that the women PUAs attract are shallow and dumb, that’s why they hate women”. He has over 70 likes. I want to gouge my eyes out.

@Chiomara – There’s a lot of confirmation bias in PUA. I’d guess a large percentage of the women they attract are women who themselves enjoy clubbing, flirting, and hookups. In that context, deep intellectual connections aren’t likely to happen unless the fling develops into something more long term. But then you add to that the pressure to keep nexting women and have a lot of ‘plates’ spinning at the same time, along with a total disinterest in female thoughts and opinions, and voila: an unshakeable belief that all women are shallow and stupid.

They remind me of Governor Lepetomane from Blazing Saddles, flailing around with the paddle ball and yelling “This friggin’ thing is warped. Why do I always get a warped one!”

@andiexist, it is from my brain! I am glad that you like it. My brain does too.

@Chaiomara, I don’t read Cracked, pretty much for that reason. Well, the fact that it’s mostly pop culture timehole trash, too, but there we are. But yeah, they are pretty bro-feminist over there.

@Buttercup
No, look, I completely understand. I hook up with women often, and if you go clubbing and have non emotionally committed relationships, EVERYONE looks shallow, simply because they ARE shallow around you. Why would you share deep thoughts and emotions with a person who is basically a stranger? Still I know they are equal human beings, not lessen people just because they didn’t come to the club to debate about colonialism.
But my point here that to swallow PUA bulshit you need to hate women in the first place. It’s not the fault of the women who they meet after or before.

I love pop culture timehole trash, haha. I loved when the site started being more feminist too. But if those guys want to be actual feminists they have a lot of man tears to dry.

The only guarantee with Cracked is that the writer won’t be an asshole. But quite a lot of the writer are quite far on the right, and/or write piece about how people should conform to stereotypes and all.

I use it mostly because it allow me to be confronted to ideas I am against, but in a form I can swallow. As in, read them and conclude they are wrong. And sometime they have a good point I can agree or at least think about.

Also, and it’s not limited to feminism but it show especially here, the cracked staff often talk of domains they don’t know a lot about. Sometime they have a real documentation effort, sometime they don’t. That part is especially annoying, because it contrast with their interviews, who generally speaking are a much better quality.

@Amanda Ching

It actually, IIRC, has conjugations of verbs that are consistent, etc.

Of course it has. All dialects of all languages do, otherwise they’d be no use to anyone. The complaints about AAVE have never been rooted in anything but racism, as you can see by examining the levels of regional variance in white English and the amount of fuss that isn’t usually made about them. (Although there’s a few white dialects that are commonly denigrated for classist reasons.

@ Scildfreja

The take-home was that we need to be tolerant of different ways of speaking English, and that the ways ESL speakers use the language is just as good as a native speaker. English is becoming the lingua franca (ehee) of the world, and native speakers need to have more acceptance towards english that sounds ‘wrong’ to them.

Not just ESL, come to that. It’s common in India, Nigeria, South Africa, the Caribbean generally and probably other places I can’t think of offhand for people to learn English (often among other languages ) from the cradle. All of these places have (sometimes multiple) different dialects of English, but English is nonetheless a native language, and the local dialects are not any more different from the ‘Queen’s English’ than are dialects that occurred within a few hundred miles of Buckingham Palace (some even classify Scots (not Scottish, which is an unrelated Gaelic language ) as an actual separate language from English, not just a dialect.

Shorter version: Hey, black women, why don’t you invest a few thousand of your crack dollars in a Nanette Lepore fantasy suit complete with gloves and a pillbox hat, and you can become a well-provided for consolation prize to white man-children who actually would prefer white girls, but, because they aren’t racist, and white girls are bitches, will settle for you, provided you look and behave like you just stepped out of the latest “sophisticated” Oscar contender set in the 1950’s.

Do I have it about right?

As a poor black lady who is dating a white nerd, fuck this guy. Just…what?

See, and this might surprise the poor fool, I’m a nerd, too. It’s what keeps us interested in each other. Dare I say, it’s what attracted us to each other in the first place. Fuck, we don’t even share most of the same fandoms, and we still like each other, and trust me, it wasn’t for the money in his wallet (way to stereotype us as gold diggers, btw and fuck you).

Or maybe this fuckstick doesn’t realize that who “liking each other” thing is possible between BW/WM relationships.

Or that black girl nerds exist…

As a white male nerd, I’d love to see more women of color (and more women generally, and more people of color generally) involved in the broader scene, for a number of reasons–not one of which involves my boner.

1: The broader the audience, the stronger our market demand, the more stuff we get produced that fits the ‘geek’ interests.
2: A broader audience means that we’ll also have stories that are more diverse, more novel.
3: Some things that annoy clueless white nerd doodz will actually become LESS common*.
4: More interest in ‘geek things’, particularly science fiction, will lead to a broader interest in science in general. Society does better when more people understand basic scientific principles, and when the scientific community is flooded with people who are interested in doing good science.

So, yeah, to hell with this guy.

*: I recently posted a link to “Hermione Granger and the Patriarchy”, the fan remix that puts Hermione as the central figure in the movies. I almost immediately got a nerdbro complaining that movie Hermione had already been given all of Ron’s most positive traits from the books. The point was a fair one, as far as it went–he was able to give specific examples where they deviated from the original text to have Hermione do the ‘good thing’ that was originally attributed to Ron.

What he missed entirely, of course, is that one reason for the ‘acceptable targets/paragon of virtue’ phenomena is the lack of a diverse cast. In overall series, there’s a whole slew of male characters with ‘inner life’–an examination of what makes them tick. Harry, Ron, Snape, Dumbledore, Remus, even Draco and Voldemort get a portion of their inner workings revealed.

For women? It’s Hermione. She’s The Chick. The closest we get for any other female is McGonnagal’s Quidditch passion. Two romantic interests who are only brought on when their romantic interest might be interesting to the audience; two evil antagonists (one ‘crazy slut’ and one ‘shrewish prude’, because why not stick to the stereotypes); and one stay-at-home mom who provides nurturing for Harry that he doesn’t get at home. Oh, and a random hippie chick who serves as an oracle. Sadly, I think Luna may be the most explored female character after Hermione herself.

So Hermione has to stand in for all women, because in a very real sense, she’s the only woman in the series. Given that, it’s not surprising the writers opted to avoid having her have any really unpleasant traits or weaknesses. If, OTOH, some of the supporting cast we got to know had been women, maybe they could’ve taken the pressure off of Hermione Granger to be so bloody perfect all the time!

@ Masse_Mysteria:

I’m usually wary when I see pics of that particular Star Trek scene, because I’ve seen it taken out of context so many times, but after reading the article I think it suits here.

A third party is making a black woman and a white man kiss against their will. It’s almost too appropriate.

That’s an excellent point! This article might be the most appropriate place in existence for that screencap.

Also, it’s fun to read the OP’s words while imagining Nichelle Nichols reacting to them, being witheringly unimpressed.

I have to bow down to Dave for always bringing the funny when it comes to stupid MRA memes. You really can’t make up this nonsense, can you?

Black “ladies” are doing just fine, thank you very much. And many of us are in loving, committed relationships — with men of various races/ethnicities. But thanks to the “black guy” for his unhelpful advice.

I’m sorry, let me see if I got this straight: The plan to end poverty is to create Fake Geek Girls, the exact sort of person all these white nerdy boys have spent two-plus years deriding and saying they don’t want?

No shit. Like make up your goddamned minds, TRPers. Do you want me to be a genuine nerd/geek/gamer, or do you want me to only pretend to pander to your boner?

But I think there’s a point to this:

Thiazin red | February 10, 2016 at 11:25 am
@ Falconer

I’m guessing these probably do want a fake geek. They want a girl who will watch them play games fro hours, not one who also plays and could potentially whip them. Nothing makes one of these guys throw a controller tossing shit fit faster than losing to a girl/woman.

These guys don’t want a “geek girl”, they want someone who will just pander to them and entertain their shitty ideas without offering anything of their own.

The only comparison I can think of is Brian’s (ex?) girlfriend Jillian from Family Guy (I don’t know, I gave up on Family Guy ever being good a long ass time ago), and that thought just makes me more depressed and angry.

They want a woman who’s literally too stupid to properly function as an adult. They want a woman who’s literally a grown fucking toddler who will look up at them in awe and will take their word as the fucking Gospel.

And since they’re mad that us uppity white wimmens aren’t going to do it, they’re trying to cajole black women into it via shitty stereotypes pulled directly from their racist asses.

Here’s a stereotype for you: You wouldn’t be able to pull that “ghetto black woman” out of poverty anyways, because you’re too busy spending your money on comics and games to pay your fucking bills.

Leave them alone, TRPers. Take a goddamned seat.

teiresias | February 10, 2016 at 3:51 pm

And that’s the one question we can ask of the entire TRP and their “philosophy”.

“What the fuck makes you think you’re so goddamned irreplaceable?”

@Dalillama,

Exactly 😀 English is global. We should celebrate the differences in culture and all of its different forms, and not tie it down to an anglo-centric viewpoint or form. I work with a lot of people from India and (up until recently) China, and while we have difficulty in communicating at times, I can’t say that any of us are worse off for the differences. We’re far better off.

I just love how middle and upper class white straight male nerds complain about how they were unpopular in school because geeky interests were looked down upon, but now that nerdery is more socially acceptable they’re all pissy about their territory. Even though it wasn’t theirs to begin with.

I’ve seen these guys compare The Big Bang Theory to minstrel shows and blackface. They’re so outraged that other people have picked up some basic nerd lingo from the show.

Yes, BBT has some stereotyping and exaggeration, but so do all sitcoms. Joey Tribianni is a stereotype of actors. Grace Adler is a stereotypical neurotic Jewish woman. Louis Grant is a stereotypical gruff newsman. Comparing a silly sitcom to racism is just so many levels of wrong and incidentally probably doesn’t feel too welcoming to black nerds.

Slight interjection here: I only really dislike TBBT because I feel like it makes fun of stereotypical nerds, instead of being a comedy for nerds.

Like the majority of the jokes are “Lol, Sheldon’s so weird!” and it feels more like the audience is supposed to identify with Penny, who’s the “normal” person.

I definitely wouldn’t say that it’s equal to minstrel shows or blackface, but I would say that it’s certainly not nice to nerds and geeks, especially when you compare it to shows like Community, which feels like it’s geared more towards those of us who are more socially awkward and nerdy.

I can’t stand TBBT. It’s absolutely awful, for exactly the reasons you pointed out. It’s a show about laughing at the people who aren’t normal, not about accepting them and looking into their lives from their own perspective. It’s awful.

Of course, my deadbeat brother in law loves it, and uses it as fodder to tease and belittle. Grumble gromble.

90% of TBBT jokes can be boiled down to “Person did stereotype! *cue laughtrack*” Sheldon is “OCD” stereotype, Howard is Jewish stereotype, Raj is Indian stereotype, Leonard is niceguy nerd stereotype, etc, etc. The other 10% are gay jokes. Or at least that’s how it feels whenever I watch it.

Yeah, calling it “Nerd minstrelsy” is offensive nonsense that shows just how little cishet white guys know about actual oppression, but I can accept calling it “Autism minstrelsy.” Because it kind of is. It’s probably the second most ableist thing on TV, only beaten out by post-shooting news reports.

I seriously tried to like that show, because nerd jokes, but every single line could be replaced with “[slurs] ARE DUMB LOL THEY THINK THEY’RE PEOPLE BUT THEY’RE NOT” and I wouldn’t notice the difference.
