Are you saddened by the racial divisions in the United States?
One Red Pill Redditor who calls himself Cosmicicarus has come up with a bold new plan that he claims could put a dent in urban poverty — and also help nerdy white dudes get some attention paid to their long-suffering you-know-whats.
His proposal: Low-income black women should eschew ebonics, cultivate a demure femininity, and start hanging out in comic book stores in order to catch the eye of lonely white nerdboys who are sick and tired of stuck-up white gals and their icky feminism.
Cosmicicarus — who describes himself as a “black guy” who got to know a lot of white dudes in college — sees his plan as so logical and sensible he’s kind of amazed that black women haven’t already figured it out on their own.
On one side of the racial divide, he writes,
there seems to be a growing minority of [white] guys who are either lonely or are fed up with what they see as a growing anti-male feminist culture hostile to them.
And on the other side, there are black women stuck working at dead-end jobs in the ghetto, seemingly destined to live out the rest of their lives in poverty.
“[I]t seems to me,” Cosmicicarus notes,
that from a low income/poor young black girls perspective the best choice she could possibly make to move up to middle class status is to make herself desirable to and to actively pursue young white men straight out of college as they are preparing their careers and older divorced white men fed up with feminism.
And what an opportunity these gals have in front of them! All they have to do to take advantage of it is to completely make themselves over into every white nerdboy’s fantasy.
[W]hite guys that go on to be successful can be pretty nerdy (star trek, star wars, xbox fanboys, comic books, dungeons and dragons, cosplay, card games etc) A lot of women can see some of those things as loserish so many of these guys end up complaining that white women don’t show them any love. Seems like this is a great opportunity for black women to do for those guys what the white women won’t.
That’s right, ladies: you’re going to need to develop an interest in Star Wars and World of Warcraft. Or at least learn how to pretend that you’re interested.
Rather than wait for men to make the move as has been the historical norm low-income black women should actively hit on and ask out these sorts of guys out on dates. Go to where they hang out in college or go to comic book stores, gamestop etc… Those places can be like a buffet of single white guys.
But don’t be too forward, black ladies! Remember that these fellas want feminine women, not feminists!
BW should work on … developing the type of feminine qualities that these guys are looking for. The cute soft voiced girl who plays World of Warcraft type of thing.
And don’t scare off these sensitive young men by dressing like sluts! Think “sexy (but not too sexy) librarian.”
I think those girls should also dress in ways that hide their assets to encourage those mens imaginations. Instead of tight jeans I would think a librarian look might be more effective.
And for goodness sake, gals, try not to come across as irretrievably ghetto.
Issues that could make this unworkable would be if they spoke ebonics/ghetto as many people look down on this. Doing drugs and other illegal activities would be a big no-no. Having children already would also put a lot of guys off and finally being slutty or being with a lot of guys would probably scare off these types of guys.Thinking they might have to fight off angry black guys might also be an issue.
So it seems like black women have some work to do if they want to catch the nerdy white dudes of their dreams (or at least of Cosmicicarus’ dreams). What do the nerdy white dudes have to do to make themselves similarly attractive to black women?
Apparently nothing. They just have to remain white and nerdy with decent career prospects.
Cosmicicarus admits there may be some issues that could render his plan “unworkable.” For example, some black women might not want to completely change their identities in order to appeal to WoW-playing nerds. And some white dudes might be too darn racist to want to have anything to do with black women, even the WoW-playing sexy librarian types.
If the reaction of other Red Pill Redditors is any indication, this last issue may well prove insurmountable. Red Pill types love talking shit about white women and their allegedly snooty ways, but they hate black women even more.
“Have you actually met a low income black woman?” one Red Pill Redditor wrote.
The majority are rowdy, obnoxious and classless. So bad that the majority of middle class black men won’t even date them, let alone a man of a different race.
“Black women need to work on themselves before attempting to seduce anyone,” wrote another Red Piller.
Unfortunately the strong independent women who don’t need no man rhetoric has been internalized by many females in the black community. Especially due to the large obnoxious black woman trope that Hollywood and the media force feed everyone.
Yet another Red Piller was even more blunt, declaring simply that “we don’t want em.”
Any hopes that Cosmicicarus had of becoming a sort of Martin Luther King of opportunistic interracial dating seem to have been dashed.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but what is ebonics and why don’t they like it?
I’m sorry, let me see if I got this straight: The plan to end poverty is to create Fake Geek Girls, the exact sort of person all these white nerdy boys have spent two-plus years deriding and saying they don’t want?
Ah, the beautiful intersectionality of “Black people need to appeal more to white people in order to get respect” and “Women need to appeal more to men in order to get respect.” These dudes are getting great mileage out of their pool of bigotry.
Given the rather strong association between the men’s rights movement and white supremacism, I think that’s pretty darn likely.
My though when reading thoses posts is alway “do they *really* think that ?”
I think they aren’t that stupid, but still stupid enough to entertain themselves that it might be possible.
@Valentine:
Ebonics (from ebony + phonics) was an effort to get educators familiar with African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) and use it in the classroom, the idea being they would connect better with their African-American students, those students would be more comfortable, and grades would go up.
It had massive potential to come off as How Do You Do, Fellow Kids, not to mention condescending, and the sort of people who think AAVE is just “black people can’t talk proper English” thought it was Giving In To The Lazy.
Plus there’s a certain population here in the States just waiting for the next New Thing in Education so they can misunderstand it, rail against it, and ridicule it (cf. Common Core).
EDIT: Well, Wikipedia informs me that “Ebonics” is another term for AAVE and the controversy stems from the recognition of it as a legitimate [African] dialect by the Oakland, CA school board in late 1996. So I’m not entirely wrong (but how far can we trust a site dominated by white guys about an aspect of black experience?).
Falconer-
Heh.
But I guess it’s a nice accidental revelation of the truth. What they want is fake geek girls. Women who will fake it and play along with whatever the guy wants until he gets angry at her for not being perfect enough, because that’s how entitlement works.
What they hate is real geek girls with genuine interests and political views and who want a relationship with a person who shares their interests but also treats them like a person and doesn’t just fetishize them due to their gender and/or race.
And the best tactic they have for fighting real geek women is to accuse them all of being evil fakers who aren’t the true fans the industry should actually listen to.
OP-
Yeah, that plan is grrrreat. Cause it’s not like there’s been intense racism and sexism in nerd communities that have made those spaces extremely toxic for black women nerds for decades.
Also, is it just me or is there actually a whole genre of posts that purport themselves to be “cultural analyses and suggestions” but are really actually just about thinly veiled demands of other people to cater to the post writer’s specific fetish?
Cause they seem especially common in the manosphere. “Oh, really all problems would be solved if all women just modeled themselves into the exact being I beat off to every night.”
And it’s extra “amusing” because I imagine that they believe they’re being super logical super geniuses when they’re actually posting the equivalent of a person with a foot fetish talking about how everyone should be barefoot all the time and how we should incorporate more foot rubs into social customs.
I love how this redditor neatly sidesteps any implication or suggestion of a black MAN taking a social advantage by dating a white WOMAN. You can practically feel this writer’s white male nerd entitlement over women of all races. His logic is totally nonsensical, but it could easily have just been gender neutral.
@ falconer
Thanks I’d never heard of ebonics but I have heard aave and you’re probably right about Wikipedia so thanks also for taking the time to explain to me. It seems ridiculous imagining a white teacher speaking aave to her black students. It’s like mockery. -_-
Why do I get the feeling that this guy isn’t really black, but a white guy who secretly faps over Mrs. Huxtable from The Cosby Show?
Also:
I bet he also secretly faps over Bebe’s Kids.
But srsly: This, RedPillocks, is why you’re still single. You’re fucking impossible. First you want women to do all these phony-ass things, and then you get mad at them for faking, and wonder why you can’t find a “real woman”. Did it ever occur to you that what you call a “real woman”…ISN’T FUCKING REAL???
@Falconer
I was in the education profession in the 90’s, and it was indeed a thing. The argument that I heard (and took at least one class that heavily involved it–I think it was a linguistics class) was not that teachers should USE ebonics in the classroom, but that they should understand its usage so that when they come into contact with it they can do more than simply “correct” grammar. It actually, IIRC, has conjugations of verbs that are consistent, etc.
That was in the 90’s though, and there could be a lot of study and debunking since then.
Re: the actual post here–there’s almost too much fail to comprehend.
Ugh, I just can’t even . . . .
Geek boys want geek girls, not pretenders.
@Amanda Ching — Thanks! I guess I heard wrong, or hell — it’s been twenty years, probably I recalled it wrong. Yeah, more people need to understand that things like dropping “be” is A Thing and AAVE has rules and conventions just like mainstream English.
@Falconer
Yeah, the “is” and “be” thing was one of the more fascinating things about Ebonics. Like “He be late” vs “He late” imply two different things. I liked the input. But at the same time if they had ever suggested that I speak it to my students to make them feel more comfortable, I probably would have felt pretty icky. It smacks of unnecessary pandering.
“Those places can be like a buffet of single white guys.”
The infamous post about “whining about being hungry when there’s a hot dog on the ground” comes to mind.
Is there a librarian look style guide available? Are glasses mandatory?
Yeah, black woman everywhere just adore the “sassy black woman” stereotype which is unfairly force fed to oppressed white guys.
Here’s a thought – let Black women decide for themselves who to date, the hobbies they wish to pursue, and what the best plan(s) for escaping poverty in their lives will look like, what it will involve, and who it will involve (besides them obviously).
They’re people, they’re not stupid and they probably don’t appreciate being told they’d have to completely remake themselves to be ”acceptable” to some geeks who keep talking about going their own way to begin with! Who wouldn’t feel the same way about being told by a bunch of nitpicking misogynists who feel entitled to sex from a hot ‘chick’ who shouldn’t have had more than 1-2 previous sexual partners and must be under the age of 24 even when they themselves are in their late 30’s and beyond that these dudes are their best hope for getting out of grinding poverty but ONLY if they “change just about everything and then maybe…we’ll have to see…”!?
I’m just not on the same wavelength as these guys because I see nothing wrong with any woman of any race or income level being a strong, independent woman who doesn’t need a man. How horrible that feeemales now have the ability to make it on their own without depending on a man to marry and support them.
The large, sassy black woman stereotype is another matter altogether and I’d like to see that disappear.
The only librarian I know personally has rainbow hair an inch long, one ear full of studs, and is a total badass. I very much doubt that they mean her.
(She does wear glasses though.)
These guys don’t want a woman with the same interests as them, they want a woman who has no interests except them and what they have to say about Things.
Of all the librarian I have seen, my prefered one did have multicolored hair. They were long however. In general, I would like if more men and women had multicolored hair, but since I can’t be arsed to take care enough of my hair to do that, I guess I don’t have a right to complain.
On another note, it do trigger a flashback to the years of efforts my father deployed to make me get a classic haircut for my gender and social status. I ended up actually giving up on him partly because of how nerve-wracking it was to constantly have to rebuff him about that.
Which may be a small-scale, 1/2500th version of what actually oppressed people feel. I wonder how I would have turned out if I was seriously oppressed, if I would I folded and accepted thoses constraints or if I would have actually become a brave individual that don’t let anyone dictate his/her conduct.
Sure, black women should definitely take on the task of pandering to white entitled guys that white women don’t want, because, heavens, they might want to eat and get a roof over their heads, even if it means entirely remodelling themselves to suit whatever fantasy the guy may have. and it’s not in the slightest bit insulting to literally all of the groups mentioned here. / s
It sounds to me just a bit as if Cosmicicarus would like to find a geekboy sugar daddy for himself, but is too coy to say so.
(On the librarian front, the only one currently in my social circle has long flowing hair and in summer sometimes wears a long flowing skirt to work, which might appeal. And he’s a bloke, and has a lovely girlfriend who is as near to the genuine geekgirl as someone can be and not be totally fictitious. They met at a Morris Dancing convention, so there’s that).
How dare anyone say that TRP is a racist den of scum and villainy! Nope, no racism here!
I actually work in a Library and I am a librarian. Most of the librarians I know are black women and one of them is a geekgirl with bright red, crochet braids, and another, dresses like she just stepped out of an episode of Sex and the City.
I’m a geekgirl with giant brown crochet braids, glasses, brightly colored jackets, and sensible shoes, so I’m all over the place. Plus my market value is non-existent because I’m over 25, so there goes my road to happiness, I guess. i really should have thought about this while i was in college and thinking about having…you know!, a career.
I suppose it had not occurred to the writer that black women under the age of twenty five aren’t looking for any of the qualities that are possessed by 25 year old, white, college nerdboys. I may be wrong but that’s just not a demographic that most black women find attractive. Not that white nerdboys can’t be attractive, its just not what black women are looking for.
Not to say that young black women are racist but there’s a whole, ” family disapproval for dating white men” , and “marrying one’s oppressor” issues. A lot of young black women (yes, even the very poor ones) are socially conscious and making the decision NOT to date white men is one of those socially conscious things they do, in favor of supporting young black men.
But then this would only occur to someone who thinks about young, poor, black women as “people who can make their own decisions about what they want in a man”.
I’d just like to say a big thank you to all lady librarians from Hypatia onwards.
(I’d stick in a picture of that Neil Gaiman quote if I was more techno literate)
