STOP THE PRESSES!
Everyone’s favorite pickup artist guru Roosh Valizadeh has announced that he is cancelling all of the 165 meetups in 43 countries he had planned for this coming Saturday.
I can no longer guarantee the safety or privacy of the men who want to attend on February 6, especially since most of the meetups can not be made private in time. While I can’t stop men who want to continue meeting in private groups, there will be no official Return Of Kings meetups. The listing page has been scrubbed of all locations. I apologize to all the supporters who are let down by my decision.
Huh. Should we take him at his word on this? Roosh, in addition to being a terrible person, is also a bit of a troll. It wouldn’t exactly shock me if Roosh’s alleged cancellation turned out to be nothing more than a ruse, that the meetups are still on, and that he’s simply moved the planning for his meetups out of the public eye.
[EDITED TO ADD: It looks like this is indeed what he’s doing, organizing them secretly on the Roosh V forum, now closed to outsiders, at least according to sources with accounts on the forum.][EDITED AGAIN: Here are some screenshots (not mine) of his forums showing some of the places where they’re still trying to organize meetups.]
[EDITED AGAIN 2: REDDIT BOOGALOO There’s a stickied post in the Red Pill subreddit inviting all properly credentialed red pill alpha dogs to come to these super secret alternate meetups.]
If he really has cancelled them, the question becomes: did he do it because he was genuinely afraid for the safety of himself and his fanboys? Or did he take a look at all the protests being scheduled and realize he would look foolish if, in location after location around the globe, tiny groups of Roosh fanboys faced off against big crowds of mocking feminists? Hell, maybe he realized that in a lot of the locations he announced he was going to have trouble getting even one person to show up.
Will we ever learn where the pet shop is?
Are we entirely sure there were ever any real events planned?
At the same time he announces “hidden/private meetings”. I don’t believe it.

Let’s have some singing, shall we?
Douchey Rooshie ran away, / (interjection: NO!)
Bravely ran away, away; / (interjection: I didn’t!)
When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail, and fled;
Brave Sir Rooshie turned about,
Apparently he chickened out…
[song gradually fades into the distance etc]
Bravest of the brave, Sir Rooshie!
Could the vile shithead have set all this up as a PR stunt to gain publicity for himself?
Yeah, these were never actually going to happen. But I do hope Roosh still makes his attempt to enter Australia illegally by boat. That should be fun.
Bahahaha!
I loved how much press this got. People who had never even heard of MRAs and PUAs were suddenly talking about how much this guy sucks. I even had angry posts about him all over my timeline. It was wonderful. For once I wasn’t the “militant feminist” outlier.
You put the meet up info in plain sight on your goddamn blog.
Yup. Of course.
I’m about 1000% certain this was a big PR stunt by him and wow, did it work. He can claim persecution by the feminazis and the feminist dominated press and rake in more sympathy and more donations and keep living without doing any real work for a while now.
@drst: I doubt that he’s going to get any money from people who aren’t either already customers of his or men/women who weren’t already Manosphere-adjacent.
I can already imagine him setting off from a Californian dock, Looney Tunes style in a small rowing boat, laughing at his own cleverness.
What a weakling. Though a successful PR stunt if that’s really what it was.
He made the SF Chronicle, they quoted his entry from Feb 16 of last year. What’s the old saying about sunlight being the best disinfectant?

I just hope he doesn’t set out in an unsafe lifeboat.

He will claim anything is victory, but he made a massive ass of himself and made more allies stand up for women. I love it. He failed again. What a loser.
Boo-hoo, Roosh. “I can no longer guarantee the safety or privacy of the men who want to attend on February 6…” Yes, yes, we’re sure you care so much about your fans, and that you/they are the ones being unfairly repressed. Furthermore, you’re TOTALLY against doxxing and harassment. /s
Considering how incompetent all the MRA’s seem to be at organizing public events, with Roosh a particularly spectacular example of such; I’d say this is just really poor execution of an idea rather than a brilliant PR scheme.
The title of the post reminded me of this
Seems fitting.
@Xanthë is right. As is @katz. I wonder how much of this has to do with Roosh realizing that it takes a freaking long time to get to Australia by boat.
(fwiw I’m still waiting on a card that was mailed to me in November by an Australian. I was warned that it was by boat and that it would take a while… but I want my card!)
Did he go out with a whimper or did he even go out at all?
It’s no fun when the MANLY MEN are so cowar-I mean “careful” and don’t really challenge anybody. Oh well, gotta go get the claws done and polish my scales for the “next big thing”…
Good! I hope they really are cancelled.
I do think this shitshow got him more traffic-I saw a post on Tumblr reminding people not to visit his site. It had links to other sites with the same info (not this one, sadly).
Oh Roosh, can’t win for losing.
Long time lurker, first time commenter… Love the blog, big fan, David. Keep up the excellent work!
I’m a little skeptical that it is all over, so will be keeping half an eye out in Cardiff for Roosh’s merry band of misogynist demagogues that breathe molten horseshit… But tentatively, I’m happy.
Teehee.
Roosh can arrange and cancel all the meetings he wants. All that matters to me is that this got picked up by the media, reported, and the majority people is disgusted by him.
Also:
I imagined the guys who were partial to his neomasculinity shtick would consider it beneath them to ask that their safety be guaranteed. It doesn’t sound stereotipically manly to me.
(I guess I’ll be sticking with pearls for the rest of eternity, then)
I’m not buying it. I’ll have to keep an eye on a couple of creeps posting comments on my local paper. One was stupid enough to admit being a fanboy and another one was trying to dismiss Roosh’s writings as satire.
Hi there, Soreta Yuki! 🙂
ETA: The original designated location in my city isn’t even open at 8:00 p.m. so that was some lousy planning.
