Every Friday is Memeday here at We Hunted the Mammoth, and today we’ll be looking at some memes I found on a Facebook page called Feminist Hypocrisy.
At first glance, this page looks like any number of other Men’s Rightsy Facebook pages.
There are the requisite jokey memes mocking feminists. (“What do you call a basement full of feminists?” one caption asks, over the picture of a donkey. “A whine cellar!”) There is a post about Anjali Ramkissoon, the Uber-driver-attacking (female) doctor who’s become something of an obsession amongst MRAs in recent days. There are memes on such Men’s Rights hobbyhorses as the evils of child support — like the one above, which the folks at Feminist Hypocrisy borrowed from A Voice for Men.
Indeed, the admin of the page seems a bit preoccupied with this last issue, in particular with the specter of men being forced to pay for children fathered by other dudes.
Yep, it looks like some Men’s Rights Activists are as obsessed with cuckolding — or, more crudely, “cucking” — as any internet Nazi. Or maybe even more so:

Now, when the internet Nazis talk about “cucking” there is almost always a racist angle to it — the cuck-er invariably being black or brown and the cuck-ee white. Sometimes this “cucking” is meant literally, other times figuratively — with the internet Nazi squad especially pissed at white “race traitors” who support immigrants said to be “cucking” Western Civilization by, well, not being white.
Guess what? It just so happens that Mr.Feminist Hypocrisy is also racist as hell.
Look how seamlessly the Men’s Rights activism slides into this blatantly racist meme. Bigotries flock together, after all.
Poking around amongst the rest of the memes up on the page, it quickly becomes evident that Mr. Feminist Hypocrisy shares quite a few of the preoccupations of your standard issue internet Nazi — from the terrible oppressions faced by white Christian dudes …
… to, uh, whatever it is we’ve got going on here.
Huh. I thought Obama was supposed to be a secret Muslim, not a secret gay Jew.
There are many more racist memes on the page, including a number too crude and violent to repost here.
And then there are a few memes that seem utterly inexplicable, at least to me; if anyone can decipher the meaning of this thing, I would greatly appreciate it. (The readers of the Feminist Hypocrisy page seem to have been as baffled by it as I am; apparently that’s former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s head photoshopped onto someone else’s body.)
It would be nice if we could just dismiss the Feminist Hypocrisy page as a weird outlier in the world of Men’s Rights Activism. But it’s not. The page has nearly 20,000 “likes” on Facebook. Its posts draw comments and shares.
And the way I found it in the first place? I was looking through a list of Facebook pages “liked” by A Voice for Men, and there it was.
On a less depressing note: My headline today was inspired by the classic commercials for Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups which some readers here will remember from their childhoods. Here’s one of them:

And yeah. I’m gladly passing up that romanticized view of white motherhood, which is actually no different from the other kind, the one that’s being demonized. I don’t want to bring more potential menzers into the world. Boo fucking hoo!
I’m as confused by the Julia Gillard one as you, but if it helps, some of the sexist commentary she was subjected to whilst PM was about her body. She’s fairly petite, but slightly (so slightly ) bottom heavy. That’s what it’s referring to there. The rest I suppose is meant to be a joke about her f*cking over Australia (supposedly ) so now f*cking for a living? Or something?
Translation: Those grapes are so sour. Amiright guys? Those women who want nothing to do with me are totes gross! Right?
And what’s with the hatred of children? Are these white guys who think they’re superior fatherhood material remotely aware of the fact they talk like Cruella DeVille?
No one wants to raise a family with that.
I also note that they think vaginas get “floppy”. You know who believes that? Guys who don’t get close to many vaginas and can’t be bothered to read up on them.
Not shaming, just observing. It is really creepy that a sign of arousal (erect tissue/more open vagina) is treated as gross by men who just so happen to be rape apollogists who think women in their twenties are too old for them.
Assholes, if you’re so worried about this, get a damn paternity test when your kids are born. If you’re not their biological parent, you will not be forced to assume responsibility.
If you don’t, and you find out later that your kids are not biologically yours, they’re still your kids by virtue of being yours for years, you heartless bastards.
My brother-in-law’s stepson accepted responsibility for fathering a child who, it turned out, couldn’t possibly be his. For 8 or 9 years (I forget how old she is), he and my bro-in-law and his wife have raised this child, even though the dad is as Scandinavian as can be and his daughter is African American (or partly so; her mom is also very Caucasian). Everyone in the family accepts her as a member of the family and that’s how it should be. These MRAs and their obsession with paternity are just sick.

We’re also forceing them to raise kids they are not biologically related to and did not volunteer to parent?
Is it…is it supposed to be like a shell game? Are we swapping babies like fairies now?
Meanwhile my ex came and got our kids, who aren’t biologically related to him, and made them pancakes last night just because it’s fun.
Do these guys even know life can be fun?

I thought the Julia one was pretty straightforward… if you don’t think about it too much and just go by the words. I just don’t get what “playing the gender card” could possibly mean for a sex worker… but it’s just a round-about way to insult her. You do have to know who she is, though.
The “take care of this ball of flesh” one just hits it home for absurdity for me. Having another man’s kid be born creates the exact same situation as your kid being born. There is literally no difference save for some genetics. This is like Trump’s approach to praise; if the kid is yours, they’re a little bundle of joy produced by a wonderful mother and someone you’ll love forever. If they aren’t, they’re a ball of flesh and a money-drain and stress producer made by a wicked harpy.

Well this is just INFURIATING.
In the last few days my friend had her FB account suspended, along with all the other (female) admins, because they had shared on their group something about a (female) photographic artist who is doing a project about body diversity and positivity which involves artistic nudes.
They only got their page reinstated when they removed the link and all of them individually had to confirm none of them had any nudity in their personal accounts.
So, racism, sexism, xenophobia, sexual objectification and violence is all A-OK by Facebook standards, but art made by women which aims to be positive about people’s bodies is not.
F%*K YOU, Facebook.
Also f%*k the sluglord that reported them. Probably some man that can’t stand seeing women support other women in endeavours that aren’t about men in any way.

It’s worth noting that Julia Gillard was the first female Prime Minister of Australia. That meme is pretty tame tbh, compared with what she put up with while in office. Because she’s, you know, female.
If you haven’t watched her misogyny speech in parliament, it’s worth ten minutes of your time. Almost completely off the cuff and brilliant, it showed her true quality. The man she was aiming her remarks at, btw, is Tony Abbott, former Australian PM and still a sitting member, who incidentally gave a speech to an anti-marriage equality group in the US this past week. Tony’s also notable for such phrases as “What the housewives of Australia need to understand as they’re doing their ironing…” (He was trying to persuade women of the eeeevils of a carbon price).
Yep, Julia was a worthy first female PM. I’m saddened, but not surprised that misogynists are still having a go at her.
I love the assumption in the first meme that a) being the custodial parent is all fun and games and b) whatever child support they pay is all of the bills. In reality, child support will pay much less than half the cost of supporting a child for 18 years and actual parenting is hard work. These guys want to contribute absolutely nothing to their child’s daily well being and still be the cool guy who shows up every couple of weeks to take them out for pizza and a movie.
Whoever put that nose hanging over the gay whitehouse was really proud of their work.
Female arousal is the devil to them. Literally and figuratively the devil. Because it implies that women are people too, and that as people we get to pick and choose who to do it with, and who we do it with is…NOT THEM.

The 3rd one is surely a non issue, unless single mothers have taken to forcing men into relationships at gunpoint. If you hate the female gender so much, just be single, it is an option!

The Julia one references a few persistent sexist remarks about Gillard. The reference to the gender card is about her viral speech that went worldwide about misogyny; fucking people was either a reference to the fact she was unmarried, or just a general gripe about politicians; they constantly had a go at her about her wardrobe; and the big arse and thighs was another misogynistic epithet they threw at her – by other politicians.
As the son of a single mother, I think a more accurate meme about single mothers would be some asshole buying himself new stuff while holding a tiny child support check just out of a woman’s reach while their kid, dressed in clothing he’s clearly outgrown, cries in the corner. That’s what would depict my experience, anyway.
Women as property and kids as property. MRAs are so focused on their stuff–their “liquid gold,” their electronic toys, their nonelectronic toys–that they forget other human beings exist. Not to mention that other human beings don’t come with a money-back guarantee if you’re unhappy with their performance.
Kind of a pity, because I’m sure there are women who wish they could be refunded the time and energy they spent with MRAs.
I wonder if it occured to them that if a single mother trusts you enough to help raise her kids you must be something special because that’s one hell of a job even if you ARE blood related. (And screw the importance on being related by blood, like they really care about the kid beyond whose sperm swam the fastest. )
