Memeday: Dads! Punish Your Baby’s Mama With Valentine’s Day Dinner at McDonalds

Wait, what?
Wait, what?

It’s Friday again, and that means memes. Today’s batch comes fresh from the A Voice for Men Facebook page. AVFM may be in the middle of a slow-motion collapse, but they’re still doing an amazing job making and/or disseminating almost completely incomprehensible memes.

Take the one up top there, suggesting that if fathers have any issues with the way their “baby’s mama” is raising their baby, the solution isn’t to discuss this with her or — heaven forbid! — get more involved in raising the kid.

No, the only REAL solution is to ruin her Valentine’s Day by taking her to McDonald’s, instead of giving her the lavish romantic dinner she expects.

Because, you know, mothers are far more interested in extracting lavish dinners from their men than they are in, you know, taking care of any kids they might have accidentally popped out along the way.

Why did AVFM post a Valentine’s Day meme more than a month early? Probably for the same reason the site published an anti-Valentines rant from Paul Elam last August: there is no greater misandrist oppression of men than having to buy some chocolate or whatever for some dumb broad if she happens to be one of those women who expects her fella to buy her chocolate or whatever.

I have no comment on this next meme, because I have no idea whatsoever what point it’s trying to make.

Huh?
Huh?

I gather from the one below that someone saw Adam Sandler’s fake-gay-marriage comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and thought it offered some incisive social criticism.

chuckandlarry

I dunno, I’m not sure I have an objection. Why shouldn’t people be able to claim their roommates as domestic partners?

Enjoy the rest of your memeday! And don’t forget, all you fellas out there, Always Be Recording, just in case some random woman decides to do some false accusing.

abre

MRAs and MGTOWs and the like talk endlessly about how all men should be always recording (and then presumably storing all the sound files just in case). I wonder if there is a single MRA or MGTOW who does.

I am pretty sure the Alien meme is this:

Feminists are parasites. They do nothing but take and take, eating a man from inside. He works and works but everything he does goes to her, not to him. Hence he says he’s “a bit peckish” when in fact he’s ragingly hungry because he never gets to enjoy anything that he earns (eats), she just takes it all and wants more.

Then, if that man even so much as hints that he wants something more, that it’s not a perfectly fair deal for her to take everything and demand more, the feminist tears him to pieces screaming “misogyny!”

I think it might be their “clever” retort to “not all men”

I always get a kick out of how incomprehensible and ugly these manosphere meme-images are.

I mean, could there conceivably be people unconcerned enough with social boundaries who would find it sufficiently advantageous to marry someone for the tax benefits that they would be willing to do it? Two of those people that happened to know each other? I mean, yeah, conceivably. But people aren’t exactly rushing out to do it, and we aren’t outlawing heterosexual marriage to avoid it.

Yeah exactly… I think it comes from a broader anti-SSM notion (which I saw a lot before SCOTUS ruled on it) that basically came down to the idea of SSM somehow destroying all conceivable legal requirements and protections around marriage.

So, apparently misogyny is a horrific monster that breeds in the hearts of men until it bursts out to cause chaos and mayhem, only to be finally destroyed by kick-ass women.

At first I was annoyed that these guys would use Alien – a film that’s often understood as a feminist work – as source material for anti-feminist memes, but if the above interpretation is actually what they meant then hey, it really does make sense.

This is my interpretation: Feminist ideology is insidious and parasitic; once feminism has taken hold of you, you might think that you haven’t been harmed by it, but then before you know it, this ideology will destroy you and you’ll be reduced to unnecessarily yelling about “misogyny” all the time. (It doesn’t really make sense, though, because if feminism is the alien, then feminism itself – disembodied from any individual person – is the thing yelling “misogyny;” but, this is the most sense I can make of it.)

Women just can’t win with misogynists, I breastfed each of my kids until they were 4 years old and I got plenty of shitty comments about them being “too old” and how I shouldn’t breastfeed in public.

If you bottlefeed*, you’re selfish.

If you breastfeed**, you’re disgusting.

They just want something to kvetch about.

*You don’t even have to bottle prop.

**See: Donald Trump’s remarks about a lawyer who asked for a recess in order to pump.
See also: Everyone who’d like you to take your child to a public rest room to breastfeed.

MRAs: Can you imagine two men with the financial and social benefits of marriage?
What would you say THEN?
CHECKMATE, FEMINISTS!!!1!

Most Feminists: Um…that’d be OK…? I mean, whatever floats their boat…

I must confess that the concept in the matrix meme popped up in my mind when I was first thinking in depth about the issue of marriage equality. Thankfully, my logical mind also popped up immediately afterwards and helped me to arrive to the same conclusion than Ktoryx and others have already stated: it’s already perfectly possible (easier, even!) to arrange an heterosexual marriage by convenience, so who cares?

First one: I did not know AVFM was so opinionated about breastfeeding. And I suppose they don’t care some women can’t.

Second one: Just… all of my what?

Fourth one: Recording someone without their consent is illegal, morons!

Multiple: Why does the watermark say “John Galt”? What the fuck does any of this have to do with that shitty novel slash 0.01%er propaganda?!

Hey David, I’m so glad you made this a regular weekly feature on the site. These ridiculous, missing-the-point memes are one of my favorites things to read about and see you comment on. And it keeps me from having to give RoKs and AVfM any undeserved page-views, so please keep up the good work!

I think it’s a MGTOW thing. Some of them see Men Going Their Own Way basically the same as as Men Going John Galt – away from the “parasites” (i.e. women/feminists/leftists) and the “corrupt” (i.e. somewhat egalitarian and fair) society that “keeps them down” (i.e. that does not grant them privilege).

So we have, in order:

Ridiculous overreacting with an extra spoonful of spiteful passive agression from the ever-so-rational-and-logical men. Of course, all women have to care huge amounts about being pampered on Vday, cause otherwise what would these asshats be able to blame women for?

A graphic about feminism and misogyny made by someone who knows nothing about feminism or misogyny. I love the interpretations that people here have come up with. Just like the ‘it’s like teaching drivers not to hit people’, this is one of the memes that literally prove them wrong.

“Shocking revelations” that don’t shock anyone or reveal anything. Why do they care so much or think feminists would have a problem with this? Oh that’s right, their fevered imagination’s ‘feminist’ loves forcing poor men into marrying them.

And a hilariously bad attempt at a anacronym for an equally bad attempt at a catchphrase of the delusional idea that recording conversations will somehow reveal to the world that false rape accusations are a thing, but will ultimately just reveal how poorly these asshats comprehend the concept of consent.

All we’re missing is the ‘feminism = femdom porn’ and we’ve got the whole spectrum of ignorance.

Ah MRAs, making themselves look terrible and shooting themselves in the foot with their own propaganda. Must be another day that ends in Y

I know people who do McDonald’s on Valentines Day and have fun with it. Watch out menz, you might unintentionally do something quirky and charming. Total beta move!

Men can get married to men even though they’re heterosexual! Now we can have all the benefits of being married, without women in the picture! Checkmate, Feminists!

http://media0.giphy.com/media/Emg9qPKR5hquI/giphy.gif

Of course we’d be absolutely fine with that. But, there’s still the issue of who makes the sammiches. If there’s no woman in the relationship, who makes the sammiches?

And, of course, they’ll never get off their asses and fuckin’ do it. Mostly because they don’t fucking do anything that would actually solve their problems, so they secretly don’t want to because that would give them something they can’t complain about.

Uh, I mean, because getting married to another man is gay! [/sarcasm]

There’s also the issue that a bottle doesn’t tell you if it’s breast milk or not. My mom initially pumped since I only drank a very small amount at a time many times a day (hell, my first word was “done”) so it was easier to pump and store, though they did later swap to formula.
So that meme is utterly worthless even as what they want it to be.

Can’t we ever get one, just ONE, of these things with decent design? At least decent typography? JUST ONE???

Taxes are actually one of the lesser advantages of marriage, frankly, and even then the benefit depends heavily on the relative incomes. (I forget right now if the advantage is stronger if you’re closer or further away in incomes, though.)

The primary legal/financial benefits are:

Social Security
Default Inheritance
Medical Benefits at companies that offer family health plans
Medical decision-making rules

I can’t think of a single feminist OR gay rights activist that I’ve ever encountered who would care about these benefits being extended to same-sex couples.

It’s funny that they use Morpheus in their incomprehensible memes. The Matrix movies were co-created by a transgender woman and feature a woman in a lead role. Aren’t those two things that make MRAs vomit in murderous rage?

John Galt is the nym of one prolific AVFM postermaker, probably inspired by his personal libertarian views. You can often see his byline incorporated in that huge-ass ugly AVFM logo that’s slapped over many of these posters, apparently in order to credit the artist and the hosting organization in the most unaesthetic manner possible.

It’s memes like that valentine’s day one that prove anti-feminists are full of shit when they say they don’t hate women, they just disagree with feminism. If they knew anything about feminists, they’d know most of us find the whole men are expected to shell out money, women are supposed to reward him with sex valentine’s day thing to be extremely gross. Every feminist I know believes couples should nice things for each other and have sex with each other because they want to, not because they’ve been ordered to by a calendar date.

MexicanHotChocalate,
Exactly! Also, if they’d seen Sense8, they’d realize the Wachowski siblings are clearly on the pro social justice side of things.

In other news, my female coworker and I got mansplained to today. We’ve not only been at the company much longer than this guy, he’s pretty new to the project we are all on. My female coworker and I have been doing work for this client several months longer than him. Yet he still felt the need to give us unsolicited tips. He mansplained even more to a different coworker. She’s been on the project the same amount of time as him and is about equally productive.

I brought it up with another experienced female coworker, and she told me he’s done the same thing to her! After hearing that, I am definitely calling him out if he tries that shit with me again. I have never once heard him give unsolicited advice to male coworkers. What a prick.

Another thing, and this was just so precious, he was bragging about a receptionist being nice to him. Like it was due to his fabulous man skills and not just her being a nice or fake nice person.
