Merry Christmas, if you’re into that sort of thing!

Every year here, on Christmas Day, we celebrate something we might call We’re Not Even Going to Think About the Jerkfaces of the Internet Today Day. Feel free to join us.

Also, Merry Christmas, if you celebrate that too!

Open thread! No MRAs, etc!

I will take this opportunity to thank David for his hard work and lots of laughs at the expense of the Manureosphere. Some of it I have found hard to read, but humour is the best way of dealing with it.

In domestic news – after 15 years in my small flat with tiny kitchen I have finally accepted that a massive fridge/ freezer is not practical, and will be getting a narrow one to stuff into a space that currently holds 2 Baby Bellings and a bedside cupboard!

We do not celebrate Christmas, but as I live in multi cultural London this does not stand out in the slightest.

But best wishes to you all, whatever you celebrate, or don’t!

I made cinnamon doughnuts and hot spiced cider for breakfast this morning. Very well received. Husband passed out gift – he got me the “Collected Dykes to Watch Out For”. Squee!

Our younger son requested Chinese food for dinner. Otherwise very quiet, and my husband actually gets to stay home all day with no baking to do. The holidays are a very busy time for pies, tarts and cookies.

Happy holidays, everyone. I’m just trying to get over a confounded cough I’ve had since Sunday. Went over to my sister’s for our Christmas on Tuesday, which unfortunately devolved into family drama. I’m finishing watching The X-Files classic series and the second movie in preparation for the revival which is coming out next month (and very much looking forward to that). Working on finishing a few other personal projects.

Alpine, RN — oh dear, it is the tropics this year, it’s not usually 60° on Christmas Day (I’m in CT). Unless you moved from way further north than me, expect mid 30°s as the norm.

I am so not complaining though! I don’t do cold, 50-60s though? This as the low year round would be a dream…if the high wasn’t over 90 XD

Happy Holidays guys!

My brother unloaded all his unwanted LootCrate and geek-box-or-whatever-that-one-is-called off on me, so I have A Lot of buttons and pins to find room for… and a bunch of Doctor Who stuff, including a TARDIS key!!!!

The critters got stuffs too. Dumby aka the dog got a trio of dog bones: clothe, rubber, and rawhide; the rubber one is already in pieces. The cats each got an assortment of treats and toys, our former stray now lap cat is losing her damn shit over what is basically catnip in a pouch (she’s easy to please!). Darwin got a bit of apple, that was adorable to watch; Puff got himself a special treat for dinner last night (I assume no one wants details on what my carnivores eat); and the rest got a great big thing of crisps and a gift card, I have no clue what I’m gonna get them, prolly something for Nivi, she hasn’t gotten anything yet (not that she gives a crap about anything, ever!)

I had acat who used to climb the Christmas tree, and bite the little light bulbs hanging on the tree. Sadly, she was hit by a car, and died. No tree this year…maybe next year, tho’.

Happy holidaze, all!

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it (and happy Friday to everyone else)!

I’m actually back in America visiting family and I haven’t seen most of them since this time last year. We had a minor incident with the tree skirt and the water for the tree that resulted in a few damp presents, but other than that it was a nice day. I got books and wireless headphones which will be great for traveling.

Tomorrow it’s off to NC for a week of dancing and the most amazing New Years Party.

I rolled off the edge of the bed, hit my head on the corner of the nightstand, bled a lot on things, but eventually got that to stop so I probably will avoid a trip to the hospital ER for stitches. I still know that even if I get a bigger bed, the dog and s/o will still find a way to gradually take over more and more of the mattress – guess I’ll just move the nightstand further away and cross my fingers that it’s enough to avoid another incident.

Also: (whining) my head hurts. (whining now stopped.)

Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate/don’t celebrate.

Ow! You have my sympathies. Our cats are eating for you right now. Later, they will sleep for you. Yes, kitty energy is a panacea and a silver bullet. Also, it’s a cure-all. Plus, according to my boyfriend, it’s the secret ingredient and that little extra something.

Whew. Me and the husband went to the movies tonight (to see The Big Short, very good), and came out to downpour. We tried to go home, but our exit was blocked off. There was flooding. We spent around 2 hours driving around trying to find a way home. Luckily, we got there and there’s no damage to the house or dog. Our power is even on!

My boyfriend and I always do a very traditional Christmas. We ate out at a Pakistani restaurant, one of our go-to places. Soon, we will see The Big Short. For any manospherian reading this, Yes, yes, yes! Brad Pitt (sigh, heart, heart, siiigh) is in this film!

My boyfriend (he’s my Brad Pitt–except for the money, darn it!) donates blood, lotsa blood, and so gets free movie tickets. Yay!

We’ve had a fair amount of rain here lately, which is a much-wished-for development. I just don’t want the rain to fall on me as I negotiate public transit. I’m certain that my request is not at all unreasonable.

If you’re doing Christmas, I hope it’s fabulous! If not, my wish is the same: Have a fabulous day!

My present for you is a hug as wide as the world and lots of love.

Aww! I’m sending lots of love to you too, Chiomara. I hope that your 2016 is awesome!

msexceptiontotherule — I have corner guards on the shelves near my bed to prevent exactly that… and because IKEA ones are adorable little hands.

My odd “tradition” is one that was cooked up by my oldest sister.

See, she used to work at Eddie Bauer, and she and her co-workers were Christmas related plates and cups.

The problem was that “Christmas” was misspelled. So all the plates and cups said “Merry Chritmas”.

Well, of course, she had to return them and get plates and cups with the correct spelling. But still, every year, we do send a text to each other, always misspelling Christmas along the way.

My aunt was telling us about her minister and I thought it was a kind of cool story that some of the people here might appreciate.

Her minister is a former nun who fell in love with another nun, now her partner. They had to stop being nuns to be together and they also left Catholicism. Apparently the other nuns in their order were very supportive of them though. So the one became a UCC minister as they were one of the first Christian sects to become LGBT friendly and her partner ended up becoming a nurse.

I just thought it was a cute story!

Merry Christmas and assorted temporally coinciding holidays y’all!

We’re in Oklahoma with the in laws, they never get to see my son so it’s good to get to bring him out. It was nice and warm here (we’re doomed) but hopefully we get a good ice storm or something before we fly back. Otherwise I’ll be hella disappointed that I came to the Midwest for Christmas while the first storm in like five years hits the Bay Area. ?

Good evening and seasonal tidings of good cheer to all. It was a typical day of rain and brief sun breaks in the Pacific Northwest, so chilly and damp outside but warm and noisy with family indoors. Visited with kids and gran-kids along with the house dogs, a St Bernard and a mastiff, who take up the majority of any open floor space.
This coming week will have much sun so husband and I will be spending time paddling our kayak on the lake or the sound. He gave me a new carbonfiber Eddyline ‘Wind Swift’ paddle with a beautifully translucent leafgreen blade. Its as close to a greenland paddle as he could find but lighter weight than a wooden paddle. I am looking forward to an hour watching the eagles, coots, or herons. Maybe even an otter if lucky.
I hope everyone has a chance to spend time with loved ones, furry or not, in a place that makes you happy over the next week.

Happy holidays to David, the Mammothers, and all animals involved!

My holiday was made special by the release of Philip Sandifer’s latest book, Guided by the Beauty of Their Weapons: Notes On Science Fiction and Culture in the Year of Angry Dogs, which contains thoughts on SF television, Super Nintendo games, occult themes of Doctor Who in the style of a Choose Your Own Adventure novel, Alan Moore, and several scathing takedowns of the Sad and Rabid Puppies with an interview with Theodore Beale/Vox Day. It is the best description of the 2015 Hugo Awards controversy I’ve read, and I’m very excited now for Sandifer’s next book, a collection of essays on understanding and fighting the neoractionary/dark enlightenment movement.

@Rabukurafuto:
I MUST HAVE THAT BOOK.

@PolicyOfMadness, if you’re reading this thread:
I found this essay that I thought you might appreciate. It’s an analysis of the 1915-1944 version of the Ku Klux Klan not as a terrorist group, but as a pyramid scheme of the sort that are nowadays illegal.

A right-wing extremist group preaching hatred and violence, but administered by people who are in it for the money? Who would have suspected that such things exist?

Your kitties’ assistance is most appreciated. Give them some petting love for me in return!

@Argenti

Your solution sounds a lot less likely to result in my going to jail than the one I first had come to mind (smothering the s/o with a pillow and then shoving him off the other side of the bed). Will look into doing some shopping at Ikea!

Christmas Eve, my wife and I went to see Carol. For dinner we experimented with a vegan Christmas ham (it was very good), mashed potatoes and green beans. Christmas Day we had baked rigatoni and garlic bread. 🙂

Many good presents this year! A Wii U, new printer (which actually works, unlike the one we had before…), new crocs (!!! I need them for my useless feet), etc.

The cats were cute but slightly annoying. Fingie got one of his little allergy bumps on his nose. Makes him look like a boxer.

Also, they did something very strange last night:

http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/oo188/dhag85/20151225_224321_zps2eogqrwz.jpg

I caught them in this position. No explanation given so far.

Happy Holidays everyone! 🙂
