Happy holidays all! Today my cranky old cat didn’t bite me when I gave her her thyroid pill, but my cranky old alzheimers suffering dad did try to slug me for trying to stop him from eating candy wrappers, lol! I’m enjoying time off, too much food, and cheap wine (too much probably). Plus my MRA sympathetic niece-in-law came across some MRA stuff that disturbed her. Ha ha ha ha, ho ho ho ho.
Hah, by visiting my family in France, I got to enjoy Christmas 9 hours earlier than I otherwise would have if I stayed in Cali :P. As a family outing, we went to see the Cirque Du Soleil’s performance in Paris. It was phenomenal! Every second of that show was pure bliss!
@dhag85
The explanation is that they wuv each other. In a dignified feline way.
@Dreamer
You are a very patient person. I’m wishing you all the blessings of the season — and then some.
@Kat
They have a very complicated relationship. :p
They are sometimes ok being close to one another or even touching, but the one-on-top-of-the-other configuration is brand new to me!
Merry everything! ^_^

(I know it’s a bit contradictory to say “Merry everything” and then post Christmas kittens, but this was too brain-meltingly adorable to not post. I mean, one of them has a peace symbol for a face! Eee!)
@Argenti yeah I’m actually from farther north than you by another 2.5 states :p
Just had leftover chocolate pie with breakfast.
The lovely thing about having two teenagers in the house is that they don’t get up early, even for Christmas. The bad thing is that we have a pan-and-a-half of cinnamon rolls, a quart of potatoes, half a chicken, an eighth of a ham, a quarter of a grape-and-cherry cobbler, most of a chocolate pie and some ice cream left over, and by the end of the day we will probably have none of these things. So I am getting in my blows early.
I’m not even a proper regular lurker or anything, but I’ll still shamelessly take the opportunity to sneak in thanks and salutations to the maker and denizens of this excellent place.
I just finished the main Guided by the Beauty of Their Weapons essay and it alone is totally worth the price. It was published online when the Hugos were still going but the book version is expanded to mammoth proportions, covering the end and aftermath of the event. I wish Sandifer had edited out the ableism of the original essay though; of all the things to call Beale’s outlook, “lame” shouldn’t be one of them, and he doesn’t see anything wrong with calling things “insane” from time to time. Frustrating from someone interested in social justice.
Today is the first day of Kwanzaa so Happy Kwanzaa to everyone who celebrates it. ^^
I’ve read some lovely Kwanzaa stories before. There’s a cute one about Santa being invited to participate in Kwanzaa festivities for a night.
Alpine, RN — well in that case enjoy the tropical DC weather!
@Alpine
I’m also in the DC area this year. I packed way too many sweaters, but at least I was planning on layering so I have some good warm weather clothes. Was not expecting tropical rains. ๐
@opposablethumbs
Welcome! Enjoy your stay. ๐
::de-lurks:: @kupo – thank you! ๐ ::re-lurks::
Sorry, just testing my login stuff, cookies got deleted and wanted to see if I still knew who I was here.
And I’m pleased to see that I’m still me, cat picture intact and all. ๐
Hello.
Coming back from holidays and finding all changed here. The characters seem bigger, which is pretty nice for people with a bad sight like me !
And, with some delay, merry christmas to all of you.
Have a nice day.
I’m a bit late, but happy holidays!
OT, does anyone know any good online resources regarding trans stuff, to send to an openminded but relatively clueless parent after coming out as trans?
