![The Suffragettes: Secretly Muslim terrorists all along?](https://i0.wp.com/www.wehuntedthemammoth.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/SUFFiSIS.jpeg?resize=580%2C425&ssl=1)
So I’m declaring Fridays — or at least this Friday — to be MEMEDAYS.
I found the lovely “infographic” below on the Twitter, in the #FeminismIsAwful hashtag. Apparently the suffragettes were working for the evil secret Muslim menace all along! Probably for ISIS, too. Who knew!
In case you can’t read all the teensy text at the bottom, here it is in a somewhat larger form. Warning: It still doesn’t make much sense.
I’m sort of thinking that this wasn’t actually written by Muslims after all..
Aw man. They are onto us!
Wait, there needs to be “proof of long-term sustainability” for basic human rights, else they’re unjustified? Is there proof of long-term sustainability for giving anyone the franchise or even personal freedom? Isn’t this “infographic” just arguing for monarchy, the most time-honored and time-tested of political institutions?
Wait, what am I doing, this shit isn’t supposed to make sense. All it cares about is tearing women down by any means possible.
What scares me the most is that some of them will believe this…
Nobody ever immigrated before women’s suffrage.
There were no Muslims in the west before women’s suffrage.
This has been today’s history lesson from the whacky, zany, madcap world of ant feminism.
I was going to drop this one on GamerGate, but anyway:
“The BUF [British Union of Fascists] press published biographical details of its candidates and made sure that readers were aware that the former Suffragette Norah Elam, the prospective parliamentary candidate for Northampton, had been imprisoned three times and ‘endured several hunger strikes’. She had also, it noted, been involved in recruiting, had worked in a munitions factory and sat on several government committees before standing as an Independent candidate, then joining the Conservatives and finally joining British Union shortly after its creation. Her Suffragette past was also praised by [BUF leader Oswald] Mosley himself. Speaking at a meeting to introduce her to her prospective constituents, he declared that ‘it killed for all time the suggestion that National Socialism proposed putting British women back in the home’.” (Martin Durham, “Women and Fascism”, p. 43.)”
The sad thing is I’m sure they are people so blinded by their hatred of Muslims and Islam and accept every thing attributed to them as true that they’ll believe this .
Thank you, Red Pill Asshats, for reminding me why I’m a feminist.
“democracy without women’s suffrage” is surely an oxymoron, or put another way, nonsense.
Well, let’s see. The second one doesn’t sound all that bad, and I imagine that many Muslims are grateful for that. And not only Muslims, for that matter: most decent human beings.
Fourth one? Yup. I’m not a Muslim, but I’m definitely grateful for that.
Fifth one? Well, I disagree on the “causing society’s breakdown” part, but aside from that, sure. If I’m a white knight, then you’re welcome.
Admittedly, I’m doing this weird thing of not conflating “Muslim” with “terrorist,” but you’ll have to forgive me. The evils of feminism have clearly weakened my once-mighty manly brain, with the disturbing side effect of leaving me able to see shades of gray. (Well, except for that movie. Hell no.)
Oh, I’m pretty sure most Western women are lifting a finger for MRAs. Just the one, though.
But seriously, according to MRAs, aren’t men supposed to be all tough and rugged and manly? How alpha can you really be if you’re devastated and rendered helpless by a philosophy and some words delivered in a grating tone?
MRAs are such delicate little cupcakes….
And we Editors want to thank MRAs for not using the Oxford comma, because you really, really don’t deserve its dignity, elegance, and functionality.
““democracy without women’s suffrage” is surely an oxymoron, or put another way, nonsense.”
It’s more a bad idea we have grown out of than an oxymoron.
The Athenian Democracy did give vote only to a small part of its population, aka non-slave male athenians who owned some lands. It was still called a democracy.
Of course, that don’t mean that refusing voting right to any portions of the population is a good idea (and I am in favor of giving voting right to illegal immigrants as long as they are in the country at the time of elections, as well as to convicted felons and basically anyone alive in a country), and I don’t have the feeling that pre-imperial Roma or democratic Athena were really bastions of good governance ; just a bit less shitty than elsewhere.
In other words, it’s not an oxymoron (in the meme) but a moron (who write that) who want a scapegoat for everything bad in his life and with the flimsiest of all arguments, which I don’t even have the energy to prove wrong.
And anti-feminists will claim they DON’T oppose and despise ALL women. No, they don’t mind “real” women at all… just those nasty manhating feminists…
Well, i suppose this COULD be true, if they define non-feminist “real” women as; “women who are okay with being politically powerless and economically dependent breeder-servants for their male overlords.”
Well, such a system wouldn’t be called a democracy now, would it?
If it was meant originally to mean “government of the people”, and we have got to the point we agree all humans are equally people, then it follows that a government previously labelled “democracy” in its time still wouldn’t be democratic by today’s definition of the word.
I sort of agree with the evolution of ideas you’re presenting. I think it’s not so much a “bad idea we have grown out of” as much as “the people part of the definition included more and more humans with time.”
Luzbelitx:
Depends on who is doing the calling. Are you familiar with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea?
Yep, that was pretty much my point 😉
I’m told that the first references to “democracy” used it as a pejorative: the concept of a baying mob of non-aristocrats having the right to political influence was something that horrified those ancient thinkers.
Could we perhaps refer to ancient Athens as a proto-democracy?
So do they actually expect this to convince anyone? Every goddamn MRA meme I see seems to be predicated on the viewer already sharing their bigoted beliefs, meaning anyone who doesn’t just looks at them like they’re massive idiots.
The idea that women’s suffrage leads to things like Clinton and Obama getting elected, or more Muslim immigrants, is only horrifying if you think those things are worse than the injustice of denying half the adult population a vote based on nothing but a random circumstance of their births. It’s like a missionary who tries to win converts on the premise that otherwise you’ll go to a hell that you would only believe in if you were already converted.
Oh, fuck this. These fuckups are trying to use Islamaphobia to bolster their fucking anti-feminist agenda AND giving fucking anti-feminist a reason to fucking harass Muslims.
Fuck you, you fucks. Fuck the fuckers who fucking wrote this fucking shit.

I am so fucking PISS.
“the people part of the definition included more and more humans with time.”
I would not say current democracies consider children to not be people, but just consider that they aren’t fit to do political choice, so there is a minimum age to vote. That one voting restriction seem sensible to me ; the age cut out is arbitrary, but it’s better than any subjective criteria like being “mature” or “sane” enough.
That restriction is the sane version of the variation on the “censitary suffrage” idea, which was not here because they thougth poor people weren’t people, but that they weren’t responsible adults.
I don’t know which age cutout would be better than the current one. I am pretty sure that under 10 years very few children could be grown enough to meaningfully vote, and I don’t deal with 10-18 enough to know at which point a significant portion have well formed opinions. At 15 I am pretty sure I started to form political opinions based on what the politicians actually said instead of being based on my parents opinion.
You mock, but a Grand Unifying Theory of rightwing conspiracies would bring the world to its knees. And they have top men working on it.
Top men.
I want to thank MRAs for the biggest damn belly laugh I’ve had all day. Thanks, Menzers, for being such delusional right-wing idiots as to think this would fool anyone!
And that said, no, we still won’t fuck you or obey a word you bloviate, so fuck off.
All of the complaints of this meme, except the first, which is a lie, are not things of which I am ashamed. In fact, I am proud to be a social justice warrior, am glad to live in a society where women can compete with men, if that is what they want to do, and where abortion is legally available if I need or want one. I am also proud of having voted for Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama and Jimmy Carter. I am glad that there are men who support women in these endeavors.
These guys don’t know much about the religious reactionaries of Daesh, who hate all of these things and clearly do not think they are helpful to them.
So, massive meme fail here.
Note: I assume these guys had mothers who lifted many fingers for them as children, and female teachers, waitresses, and sales personnel ditto. So provision 1 is a lie.

Lol, ISIS (Daesh) are pretty well-known for having millions of dollars for slick graphic design on all their official propaganda. Even murderous terrorist organizations use better infographics than the Manosphere.
Can’t even be bothered with the “We Muslims”… as if all Muslims (even my lovely upstairs neighbours) are wringing their hands over the imminent demise of Western Society, like someone cack-handedly drew stereotypical “Muslamic” features on Le Happy Merchant.
*Shakes head despondently* So far, so Racist.
But I noticed one weird detail..
What the Hell would Obama & Clinton have to do with preventing the rise of UKIP -> the UK
IndependenceIslamophobe’s Party? Wrong country, fool.Since no American would likely reference UKIP, was this made by a Brit? No red-blooded Little Englander would confuse Obama and Clinton for British politicians, so was it made by someone else? …I can’t fathom any hardcore Nationalist getting something like that wrong. Like… Do you even know the first thing about your country that you’re “defending”?
