There have been multiple terror attacks in Paris. As I write this, there are reportedly dozens dead, and hostages being held.
I hope all WHTM readers in Paris are safe, and that this nightmare doesn’t get any worse.
This is a NO TROLLS/NO MRAs thread.
thx
I am sorry for you all with friends and family in Paris and for you all good muslims who will suffer. My best wishes. I have so many friends in Europe, I am terrified too. Let’s hope for the best. Chances are no one we know will get hurt.
Hi elb – it’s good to hear from a first-timer 🙂 It must be terrible for you – I’m glad you and the people around you are OK, and it’s all right to count your own blessings at a time like this and be thankful that you’re alive.
Thanks for your words too, lkeke – I need to just… shut this out and not watch the news for a while, even though I feel like I’m running away.
I hope everyone here and those they know stay safe.
“Paris Prosecutor Francois Molins said early Saturday that the death toll, spread across six sites in the city, could top 120. He added five attackers may have been killed. In addition to 100 people killed at the concert venue, at least 11 died in a Paris restaurant in the 10th arrondissement and at least three died when bombs went off outside a stadium, police said.
It was the deadliest violence Paris has seen since World War II.”

Seemingly around 140 people has been killed. It’s around that number.

@elb
Thank you for the on location perspective. Hope all your loved ones are safe and sound.

Two brazilians confirmed dead.
A good article with a map of the attacks sites:

@bvh
Haven’t some special forces unit (i assume GIGN) killed the attackers that where in that concert hall place?
@Chiomara
Hugs if you want them.
I have to admit that I don’t understand where your boyfriend is and probably some other important details, so I’ll have to be general. I know that you might not want to mention those details — no worries.
My thoughts are with you. I hope that everything works out okay.

This link doesn’t update that often but still
People of France, this attack is vile. Stay strong.
This link updates very often and you can ask questions, it’s in swedish however.

I’ve turned off the news as well. I’m still processing all my emotions and I still can’t even express everything that I’m feeling right now. I also want to wait until the information is more reliable. It won’t help to get myself worked up over information that is unconfirmed and based on speculation.
@davidknewton
I feel like I’m running away too, but I just can’t watch right now. Even though I’ve turned off the news and it’s after 2 am here in the UK, I doubt I will get much sleep tonight.
I hate that this is what our world has become.
elb Im so sorry man
Dear elb, and all others in Paris and affected by it; fuzzy dog hugs if you want them. This hurts my heart, so much needless pain and harm.
@elb
All my sympathy and love to you and you all. I hope and pray that it doesn’t get any worse over there.
I had a minor freak out a little while ago: a friend of mine who lives in Israel these days was supposed to be in France “in three days” as of his last email. Until I checked a few minutes ago, I could not remember how old that email was. 1 day? 2? 3? Well, he was going to be in France as of the 15th, which sure as hell isn’t going to happen now.
I’m gonna go back to crying. Between the news in France and the news that my father needs a scan to make sure that “probably isn’t cancer” really isn’t cancer, I am fucking done with today and this week.

^This is a list of the current death and injuries, it’s in french however.
@spacelawn
I think so. Also there were a couple dozen people who escaped to a lower floor the police were trying to get out. Reports are swimming in my head. Probably a sign I should eat dinner…
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but similar attacks have happened in Lebanon and Japan, too.
@bvh
Some people hid under the seats, lying on the floor or ran out.
What a mess.
As much as i dislike facebook, that safety check is ingenious.
Currently, the French police are reporting that all attackers are dead, but they are looking for potential accomplices.
