Inspired by a post on GamerGhazi highlighting some terrible MGTOW graphics, I went and took a look in the archives of MGTOW.com, and found a bunch that were even more terrible, including the one above.
Let me ease you into the terribleness, starting with some whiny, self-pitying fat-shaming:
Then let’s watch these guys attempt to reduce women to their sexuality:
Apparently they’re mad at Marilyn Monroe, for some reason?
And, in the graphic that inspired my headline, here’s some literal dehumanization:
After that bit of horribleness, let’s end on a lighter note with some of the worst graphic design you’ll ever see outside of A Voice for Men’s Meme Squad.
MGTOWs: Officially beyond parody.
Why do women put so much emphasis on their appearance?
Because it’s human nature to sexualize yourself. Everyone does it, men and women. But what these guys don’t understand is that there’s a difference between wanting the opposite sex to be attracted to you and having the opposite sex objectify you. MRAs say they don’t like it when women used them as “their own person cash machines” or “handymen”? Why don’t they like that? Because it’s objectification! They don’t want women seeing them as an ATM, and that’s fair. But they can’t then turn around and treat when like flesh-colored blow-up dolls, because that’s objectification.
Everyone wants to be attractive, that’s human. But no one wants to be distilled down to a single aspect of their humanity. I don’t know why MRAs can’t get this–it’s not rocket science, fellas!
“Everyone wants to be attractive, that’s human. But no one wants to be distilled down to a single aspect of their humanity. I don’t know why MRAs can’t get this–it’s not rocket science, fellas!”
It might have something to do with the fact that they don’t consider us human, or at least not as quite human as them. They cannot comprehend that we’re as complex as them, so of course they would not understand why being simplified into a single aspect of our humanity, as you put it, would be offensive.
And since they think a woman’s life revolves around a man’s interest, they cannot understand women taking care of their appearance because it makes them happy. Not because they get male attention but because looking in the mirror and being happy with what you see is a nice feeling.
What’s with this obsession with superiority spelled out explicitly in the last poster? I mean, I’m happiest being on an equal basis with the people around me. Shit, my own definition of superiority is based on a paraphrase of Beethoven: “The only superiority I recognize in humanity is goodness.”
Is that last one from Men Going Their Own Way or Graphic Designers Going Their Own Way?
“Gonorrhea breath?”
The guys in the MGTOW movement really do have the brain ages of 12 year olds, don’t they?
@Hipsterminator
I cannot fathom what that mish mashed meme is about. Who care if a young boy who’s never been surfing wears a shirt with ‘surf’ on it? For the record, when clothes shopping for young boys it’s very hard to find shirts without words on them, usually sporting references. But at least they’re never sexualized like much of the little girl stuff is.
While scrolling through that MGTOW site I found this glorious piece of projection:
‘when these creatures go around saying that they are strong, independent and don’t need a man, first of all it just looks suspicious, i mean what strong and independent person goes around screaming about it and wanting people to ‘know’ about it? very suspicious indeed. Secondly, we facepalm to it because we WISH they were strong and independent and leave us the fuck alone!’
The lack of self awareness is strong with this one.
Oh, and in regards to that last meme, with the migraine inducing colour selection, what have these guys got against women with mullet haircuts?
The one with the T-shirt re-use the original meme, who isn’t from the MRA, and who mostly mean what the grandpa say on the second picture.
So the complete sense is “11 workers enter the restaurant, see a feminized version of the lunch worker poster, say out loud “you’re a lying piece of shit” and leave the restaurant”.
It’s still horrible at all level (including the fact the original picture of the workers is staged as far as I know), but the surf T-shirt part is not from the MRA. It’s just a random, crappy meme from the internet.
Regarding the bust up between AV and Paul Elam, I found this old link to one of Judgybitch’s old posts, where she tries to raise funds for the still born symposium AV was supposed to be inviting Tanveer Ahmed to, and which AV and Elam are accusing each other of misusing the funds:

How things change. I can see why she’s trying to be non committal in the comments under Paul Elam’s article on AV, though she might regret that.
Gotta love the “no interests” part on the first one. Most of my friends are women BECAUSE their interests are closer to mine.
I can barley read half of them, looks like something someone who just started using paint would do.
*Reads the first poster, Facepaws*
If I could list what women have to offer me: the list would be astronomically long. These asshats think women are only good for a rump in the sheets and nothing more, while complaining “Stop using us as cash machines!”
I find their lack of self awareness disturbing…
*Reads the other posters, pukes black, tar like goo*
I’m done reading for the day…
@Ohlmann – I dunno.
I’ve known a couple of people going through gender reassignments, and to quote one guy who wentered through most of a FtM transition while my employee, “Testosterone’s a hell of a drug.”
[Note: I have *no* first hand experience and welcome input and correction.]
My take:
“Purely cultural”…that might be going a bit far.
But “depending heavily upon cultural inputs for behavioral outputs as well enforcement of ‘norms'” and “even when speaking in binary gender terms, at least as variable among individuals as it is stated to be ‘between sexes'” – absolutely.
There’s a huuuuge amount of neurodiversity and an array or hormonal profiles all set to play with both hugely variable cultural expectations and life experiences.
The thing (OK, one of the things) that bugs me about the MRM is that they seem intent upon calcification rather than allowing people to just be people.
They complain about men’s roles and expectations but then deride those whose expressions of masculinity fall outside of their parameters.
[Another note: I apologize if this is disjointed – written on my phone in between doing a bunch of other stuff. It makes sense in my head, but I’m not sure it will to anyone else.]
*squints*
“Wentered”?
I don’t…I mean…I’m not sure how that even happened.
*to autocorrect*
You’re useless.
I’m a little slackjawed at “Mental Disease” from the first meme. On top of the ableism, and the idea that mental illness is only found in women, it sounds exactly like a Victorian six year old’s idea of a really sharp recess zinger. (I had the same reaction to “Buy a clue, freak!” but at least that sounds like it comes from later in the 20th century, even if it does have kind of a comic book/Charles Atlas/bullies-(directly)-on-the-beach vibe.)
Then we have “No Interests” and “Superficiality”, from the crowd that literally sees women as orifices and having no value beyond looks. But as soon as a woman dares to have a personality, interests, career, and hobbies, suddenly she’s an entitled feminazi. It’s almost as if they’re determined to hate women no matter what.
And “Venereal Disease”, as if only women are carriers?
Most of all, I love how their ridiculous little laundry list is in stencil font, as if they’re labelling a shipping crate fresh from the jungle with dangerous contents. Yes, MGTOWs, be-ware of the fer-o-cious wo-man. Stay away! Rarr!
Still makes more sense than my phone autocorrecting “Not” to “Bork.” I’m not kidding.
I read “women offer affection and sex, men offer time and attention” and I hear “I, the maker of this meme, am an awful, selfish lover. I feel entitled to selfish sex that is unsatisfying to my partner as long as I have spent some amount of time in their presence. Definitely never have sex with me, you will not enjoy it. Oh, also, I won’t feel any affection for you because I hate women.”
@Viscaria: I also hear “I don’t care about your feelings, I won’t show you a shred of affection, and I don’t care about how you feel about anything because my emotions and feelings are more important to me than yours are. You exist only as my Emotions Dumpster, and Sex Toy.”
But now we know who runs autocorrect.

@Paradoxical Intention, YES.
I’ll tell ya, it’s so strange that these guys don’t get more “likes” on social media. It’s probably because of the gynocracy and not their terrible awful opinions.
Well, what is the proven non-cultural impact of sex on people ? AFAIK, it have a slight effect on size and after that on muscular strength (which is the main documented one, and which is low enough as to basically not count as sexual dimorphism), and apparently an hard to discern slight social effect (as in, women and men naturally don’t behave the same way in group, even when adjusted for culture). But AFAIK, sex is not a perceptible factor in perception, in endurance, in manual dexterity, or in any of the numerous way to try to assess intelligence. In addition, a lot of the difference that are tradionaly attributed (pain resistance, empathy, leadership, aggressivity, even mental health) are heavily linked to cultural difference, which may or may not be built upon natural tendencies. That’s why I mean by “almost entirely culturally based”.
Transgenderism is for me a good proof that men and women are extremely close in just about anything. Especially when a good bunch of them are perfectly able to pass for the other sex for almost all other people just with clothing, make up and behavior change, and that’s actually required before hormones or anything happen in a lot of country.
It’s hard to know the exact effect of the testosterone (and equivalent for women) on human since it’s not like giving testosterone or oestrogenes to transgender people is anywhere like a sound experimental setup ; I would expect a transgender to have a pretty strong placebo effect on hormones, in addition to their actual, physical effect.
*transgender person
I can think of three things that hormones definitely do affect — body hair distribution, breast growth which might be part of 3 — fat distribution. I’m pretty sure there’s something about muscle growth too, but I can’t think of how to word it. So after accounting for cultural factors, a lot, if not all, of the rest is hormones.
Between Ohlmann and mockingbird I think you’ve got it, I wish I had time right now to properly address everything you’ve both said, but I don’t so I’ll just say this — the hormonal changes can be enough that I don’t think I’m willing to risk that major a change (I’m non-binary, and no keener on being the “opposite” sex as the one nature decided I should be)
@Keerea
“I’m in the OUAT fanbase, give us Colin O’Donoghue in a tank top giving one of his Hook smolders and he’ll blow the likes out of the water.”
You must have liked Sunday night’s episode, then? I’m not even a Captain Swan fan, but last night’s passionate make out session with Emma in that black sleeveless dress and that bun gets a “more please” from me. ^_^;;
Colin O’Donoghue *is* hot, but his character is a dick. That whole “let’s persuade a reluctant woman into a relationship because she’s only being defensive” trope needs to go die in a fire. Although it looks like in next episode Emma may be using her sexuality against Hook? Maybe Killian could have some sort of relevation about his past behavior? Haha j/k this is the same show that treated Regina’s rape of the Huntsman as a joke because lol being a sex slave to a hot woman is totally awesome lol.
Sorry for the derail, but quite frankly even a silly fairytale show like OUAT is 1000 times more relevant in the grand scheme of things than any of these guys.
Go your own way boys. Go your own way.

Saying that women are not human is beyond the pale. Wonder how these MGTOW guys feel about the women in their families.
Lastly, I’m not aware that women walk around saying that we are superior. Feminists are not arguing that women are superior just that we are equal.
