Never let it be said that Men’s Rights Activists cannot effect meaningful change in the real world through the power of their activism.
At least if your definition of “effecting meaningful change in the real world” is “voting their preferred definition of MRA to the top spot on Urban Dictionary.”
Over on the Men’s Rights subreddit, the regulars are celebrating this rare victory as if they’d just won men the right to vote or something. No, really: they literally compare themselves to the suffragettes.
Another commenter warns his comrades that the battle isn’t over yet.
Go forth, young men! For there is more crap for you to upvote on the internet before you secure your victory!
Thank you for posting the link David. Being a petty-minded internet user, I just took five seconds to go to U.D. and cast a few votes regarding that entry.
Are they sore because feminism had its “good” definitions as top results for ages?
I just checked and all the first page are positive definitions with 33.000 to 42.000 upvotes and 4.000 to 7.000 downvotes.
Hey everyone!! We’re all like super suffragettes or something!! Matriarchy and the End of Times!!
@Charles Miller
I loved that story, Watson is totally Skynet waiting to happen…
I hope they back-date male suffrage when the MRAs achieve that victory. I’ve been voting for quite a while now and I don’t want to get into any trouble.
They’re all a bunch of legends-in-their-own-mind; every trite little thing they do is a big deal to them.
@Alan: No, I’m not psychic, but my time capsule is!
Have I mentioned how much I look forward to “Think of these female characters misogynistically and then blame Moffat for it” season? Because guess what just started.
Apparently, Moffat is a bad writer because Missy is just exactly like River.
@ Falconer
Well, they both are women who like shooting things.
I’m currently following a thread where someone is complaining that the BBC is trying to sell black people to us.
Now I know they’re looking for alternative ways of funding beyond the license fee, but I agree that this is a step too far.
@Alan, buying black people certainly hasn’t worked out so well for us in The Colonies.
It’s almost, y’know, like it’s a crime against humanity or somesuch.
@ Falconer
Nah, apparently the real crime against humanity is marginalising white people on TV. Turns out we’re severely under-represented.
It’s not like Moffat is perfect or anything, but the hate has gotten so over the top that I feel compelled to defend him. If he’s so terrible, why still watch it? It can be fun to hate watch things sometimes, but I don’t see the value in spending hours on the internet complaining about a show nobody is making you watch. ASOIAF book purists do this too much too. And the can suck it because GoT just cleaned up at the Emmy’s 🙂
@Alan, Falconer, WWTH:
Honestly, the way you keep on about Doctor Who, you’d think he fucked a dead pig or something.
@WWTH: Yeah, if it’s not making you happy, stop doing it.
But no, Someone Is Wrong on the Internet. And that Someone is all of us who say, yeah, Doctor Who’s not perfect but we’re enjoying it more and more every series. (Heaven forbid someone confess that Amy Pond added to their lives.)
@EJ: Well, he did just have a new series premiere. Is that the same thing?
weirwood: Nobody hates like a TrooFan.
I, too, voted down that silly self-pandering definition in favor of the second one :).
Also, i can’t resist:
So, slightly off topic, but still relevant to the site as a whole (and because I have no where else to put it at the moment besides the old personal threads):
I have secured permission from David to put up an Unofficial WHTM store via Zazzle!
My thoughts on this were: If I managed to set up an Unofficial store, I could include designs on inside community jokes and the like for people to purchase, and there’d still be an official store where you could purchase Offical WHTM gear.
The Unofficial store would have similar branding to the Official one, but it’d be a little goofier (I was thinking about putting a googly eye on the mammoth. I can’t brand when I’m tired apparently.) and would most likely be called “We (kinda) Hunted The Mammoth: The Unofficial WHTM store”, or just We (kinda) Hunted the Mammoth or WKHTM for short. (Could use some work though.)
However, as I was lying in bed thinking about it instead of sleeping last night, I did hit on a few things that I would like to go over with the rest of you lovely people before I put it into effect:
– Would you purchase anything via the store if an Unofficial store was made?
I would first like to make sure that before I do this, or put any plan of mine into effect, that there’s a market for it.
– How much money should David receive via this store?
Personally, I mark up all my items by 20%, as that’s the standard for another site I work with, and I figure that way, I can at least make a few bucks off of each item.
However, since this stuff will all have designs (created by me) based in this community (that David created and all of you contribute to), I was wondering if you lovely commenters think that David should get at least some of the money, and what percent of that 20% you think should go to him.
– Should I just submit the designs to the Official WHTM store?
David did suggest that I could submit designs to him to put into the “Official” store. Do you think this would be a better idea?
I would be happy to do this for David at no charge, especially since I couldn’t donate to the last funds drive, and if it could make David money, I’d be happy to consider that my contribution.
However, this would mean that I have no control over how the products are formatted, only the designs that get placed on them. David would have all control over the formatting. (And no offense to David, as his store’s items look fantastic, but that does make me a teeny bit nervous. These would be my metaphorical babies, after all.)
– If you would purchase anything from the Zazzle store, what kind of items would you be interested in seeing?
Zazzle has a lot of different items to choose from, so if you could take a look and mention things you’d be interested in purchasing if it had a bit of WHTM design on it.
– Any ideas for designs I could make?
Is there any community in-jokes that you’d like to see be made into a design?
So far, I have:
– Asshole is not a mental illness
(Though, this requires Scented Fucking Hard Chairs’ permission, as they’re the clever little bunny who came up with it. This would also include a NSFW and SFW version, which means one would include “Asshole” and the other would include something that means the same thing but isn’t considered a swear word.)
– Scented FUCKING candles
(This would include a NSFW and SFW version)
– Houses DIRECTLY on the beach
– Something about Katie
(I was thinking of a few designs for this one)
– Shut up Woody
– Hufflepuffs Against Honey Badgers
(I think this one is self-explanatory if you’ve read my posts in any of the recent Honey Badgers threads.)
A Yay or Nay on any of these designs would help!

Whew, that was a lot of my notes to get through…but I’m nothing if not thorough and dedicated to do this right!
I just don’t know where anyone ever said that men and boys do not have difficulties and women are all spotless angels. For example, my mother was the emotionally, sexually and physically abusive parent. Does that mean all mothers are bad, all women are bad? I can only speak for me and I would never say men and boys do not suffer. That being said, that is not the same as institutionalized patriarchy. As well, patriarchy harms men and boys. In the example above, regarding my family, patriarchy teaches that men should display less emotion and should be able to help themselves (after all, they are top of the food chain according to patriarchy), and therefore due to this pressure, they tend not to seek therapy for horrible childhood abuse. I don’t get why they can’t see patriarchy exists and it does no one any good.
Holy crap, really? I’d be honoured! ^_^
Hooray! Thanks, SFHC! °˖ ✧◝(○ ヮ ○)◜✧˖ °
I’ll do my best to make you proud!
No one said it. But they think we did, and to them, that’s good enough. In their headspaces, feminists are playing favorites with women, and that women are all good and moral, and that’s why we support them.
They think that by focusing on one particular group, we care about them the most, when in reality, we just want to give help to those we can and those we know who need it.
To the point where they’re legitimately baffled when a feminist doesn’t immediately fully support everything a (usually traditionalist/MRA-supporting) woman does, considering it to be an example of a feminist failing to live up to her principles. It’s kind of hilarious.

Well, everyone… you know what to do. Normally I wouldn’t engage in something so petty, but taking this GREAT VICTORY away from them would give me such joy,.
Very good points kirbywarp and Paradoxical Intention.
Wow, the number of downvotes is rising! 1392 and counting. This ‘victory’ may be short-lived, hehe.
@PI
That sounds awesome!
To answer your questions in order:
1. Yes!
2. Sorry, I have zero experience in this kind of business dealings so I don’t feel that I can weigh in with any substantial suggestions.
3. If you’re going for designs, in-jokes and things that only people who’ve read the welcome package can ‘get’ then I think it totally makes sense to have your designs as a separate store, that way it doesn’t confuse people (I’m guessing the Official store will cover all the “mammoth-hunting”). Of course, the skeptic in me has to ask, is it too redundant to have two stores? I guess that’s more David’s question to answer.
4. I’m assuming T-shirts, hoodies and hats will be a thing. So I’d recommend keychains and phone cases.
5. For the Katie one, may I suggest that she is atop some throne, simultaneously petting two cats? Perhaps in a room lit by scented candles? With ghost-in-the-shell type tubes connecting her to rest of the ‘hivemind’? Hopefully that’s not too over the top, but it must have “All Hail Katie!” somewhere on it!
For other injokes, how about “brain bleach”; a bottle of bleach that spills out adorable kitties, puppies etc…?
That’s all I got. Best of luck on making this a thing 🙂
You know, every time I see a group of angry dudes quoting “first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win”, I wonder if it’s ever occurred to them that they’re the “they” in that quote? They’re the ones who constantly talk about battling/struggling/fighting the Evil Forces of SocJus. The rest of us are just hanging out pointing and laughing, when we can be bothered to pay them any attention at all.
