So The Independent recently ran a piece by Catherine Murphy of Amnesty International, explaining why the organization is calling for the decriminalization of sex work.
In the comments, someone calling themselves THEMISHMISHEH offers a unique take on the issue.
And by “unique” I mean “seemingly from another planet.”
Shades of Tom Martin, huh?
Funny that – when the Jelly Belly topic came up, first thing I thought was “I wonder if there’s any other weirdos who also love the popcorn flavoured ones?” Honestly it’s best if we never become friends; it’d be a shame if we had to share. Yes, best to keep to one popcorn-flavour-jelly-belly-lover per friend group, to best reap the spoils.
Popcorn and juicy pear were my favorites. 🙂
“Let me show you a snippet of what I am against in the context of this argument;”
Ok I’ll play.
“Feminist Professor and her student shut-down anti-abortion protest of 16-year old girl and physically assault her at the University of California”
Well, they didn’t stop her from protesting, they took her sign that was plastered with graphic (and, if true to form, fake) pictures of aborted fetuses. Our “victim” then pulled out her camera, chased the teachers and students across campus, tried to bodily force her way into their elevator, and then cried “assault” when they pushed her back out. Verdict, *yawn*.
Also, Off Topic, but WTF is up with anti-abortionists thinking they can wave their disgusting graphic signs around in public, (including in front of children), and then taking the resulting anger as “oppression”? It’s like if gay activists waved signs with gay porn around in front of children. Offensive images are not exactly the way to gain hearts and minds.
“Ad. for play by Swedish feminists, based on feminist Valerie Solanas book S.C.U.M. (Society for Cutting Up Men Manifesto)”
Both the play and the original SCUM Manifesto are fiction. You know, not real. The original, at least, is a nice parody of the shit printed out about women as “entertainment” or “jokes” everyday. What point are you making? If you think that the SCUM Manifesto is hateful and sexist, then congrats, you agree with feminism.* Verdict: couldn’t watch because my eyes rolled off somewhere.
Feminist Twitter campaign #KillAllMen
As pointed out by WWTH, this was 4chan trolling. Verdict: giggling.
“Feminists attack catholics and vandalize catholic church”
Here we have a bunch of vandalism and women writing on men, spray painting pants, and poking men. Clearly wrong, although I have to say “attack” is a strong word for “poking and writing on” since I’ve gotten a lot worse just going into a bar. Sure you’re not a feminist? (Or are you just privileged and not used to seeing men’s bodies being touched?)
Verdict: I’ll go with assault since “attack” implies the men were in danger.
“Feminist physically assaults anti-abortion activist.
Here, we have a feminist rather brutally sending another protester to the hospital. (And getting arrested at the end). Verdict; Finally some meat on your arguments.
If I said that we all agree that pushing counter-protesters off of ledges is wrong, can we all be friends? No? Well, fuck.
*since this is every feminist discussion about violent media, ever.
@Mrex
It truly amazes me, sometimes, the lengths that feminists go to to justify and defend actions, which are so clearly indefensible and reprehensible.
People should not have their right to express their opinion freely, sabotaged in a free, democratic country.
The girl followed these feminists after they had grabbed her and her fellow protestor’s sign, which they later destroyed in the ‘Professor’s’ office. The ‘Professor’ was later charged with theft and battery, by the police.
Are you for real??? this statement is coming from a person who subscribes to feminism? an ‘ideology’ who’s followers advocate bum-rushing public events full of children with their tits and vaginas hanging out. A people who use public menstruation as a form of demonstration?
Your double standards are unbelievable.
The breadth of denial in this comment is telling of how far you people will go to justify your depravity. The Society for Cutting Up Men Manifesto is ‘fiction’? The author of the ‘manifesto’ was so serious about her work that she acted on it by attempting to murder one of the most famous male personalities of that time, Andy Warhol. Your ignorance and that of your fellow feminists on this site is unbelievable but not surprising.
“The male is a biological accident: the y(male) gene is an incomplete x(female) gene, that is, has an incomplete set of chromosomes. In other words, the male is an incomplete female, a walking abortion…. To be male is to be deficient, emotionally limited; maleness is a deficiency disease and males are emotional cripples.” Valerie Solanas.
This extremist’s point of view is supported by feminist organisations like that of Riksorganisationen för kvinnojourer i Sverige, a Swedish feminist organisation with great influence in that country. This organisation publishes a magazine in which the president of the organisation, at the time, Ireen Von Wachenfeldt, wrote the following:
“to call a man an animal is flattering. He is a machine, a mobile dildo, an emotional parasite”
She was asked about this statement in a documentary produced for Swedish Television by Evin Rubar called ‘The Gender War’. This is what she had to say:
In 2014, this organisation received 100 thousand Swedish Kronas from the Swedish government as a yearly fund in support of its work.
Here’s a couple more quotes to ponder on:
Professor Mary Daly, feminist ‘theologian’;
“If life is to survive on this planet, there must be a decontamination of the Earth. I think that this will be accompanied by an evolutionary process that will result in a drastic reduction in the population of males”
In 1999, Professor Daly retired from Boston College rather than admit male students into her class.
Robin Morgan, Ms. Magazine editor:
‘I feel that man-hating is an honourable and viable political act.
4Chan users have duped feminists into doing some very ‘hilarious’ things. A recent example being the #PissForEquality campaign, which had 4Chan users convince tumblr feminists to piss their pants and post pictures of it online in support of ”rape victims who soil themselves when they are raped unconscious’…

The emphasis here is not on the prank but on the feminists who adopt it. I don’t know if the #KillAllMen campaign was twitter trolling but feminists bit the hook and supported it on twitter, which speaks volumes for feminism.
Not without consent, no. That is called sexual assault.
Public menstruation?
MRAs really are completely ignorant about female anatomy. Do I really need to explain that the vagina is not a tap? We can’t turn off the menstrual flow when we leave home.
The rest is just the usual PRATT we always get from trolls but public menstruation was pretty funny.
@troll mash
Digging in the crates, are we? The von Wachenfeldt controversy is literally from 11 years ago. She did not write the quote you attribute to her. What she did was defend the decision to publish the text in a magazine. She resigned immediately after this statement, and has not been anywhere near any limelight since then. See, this means that her comments were not appreciated by the organization. Maybe you should’ve mentioned that?
I don’t know where you got your info from, but I can assure you that ROKA recieves a lot more than 100k SEK in government funding per year. The actual amount is in the millions. I don’t have the exact figure, but it’s roughly equivalent to $1 million yearly. 100k SEK is nothing. Do some fucking research.
Also, this money is passed on from ROKS to local organizations which provide help for battered women. ROKS is merely an umbrella org that encompasses local orgs. Shelters and the like are funded individually by cities.
Yes. The fact that she attempted to murder a person doesn’t make her work less fictional. Bill Cosby is a rapist. That fact doesn’t retroactively turn his sitcom into a reality show. Come on, moron. This shouldn’t be hard to understand.
If she just wanted to murder random men, why would she go after a celebrity? You guys aren’t making any form of sense.
Also, this all happened 50 years ago. Really digging in the crates there. If you have to go back half a century to find one attempted murder that could conceivably, kinda, sorta, have something to do with feminism, then you’ve pretty much admitted that feminism inspired violence is essentially a non-issue.
You probably won’t find much support for the second wave TERFs you’ve quoted in your comment. These people are ancient/deceased, and not very relevant to 21st century feminism. I though you MRAs were supposed to be mostly outraged by “modern 3rd wave feminism”, yet when you want to present proof for how evil these “modern feminists” are, you always pull random quotes from decades and sometimes centuries ago. Why is it so hard for you guys to keep your stories straight?
Nope. What actually happens is that 4channers come up with some hashtag that only other 4channers can be stupid enough to find remotely believable. Then they create a bunch of sockpuppet Twitter accounts with generic female user names and stock photos for profile pics, and tweet out these hashtags. No actual feminists ever notice that this trolling attempts are going on. Meanwhile, 4channers are tricked by other 4channers’ troll accounts, take screenshots and bring them back to 4chan to declare victory.
Case in point: your evidence that feminists fell for that hashtag you mention, clearly consists of three troll accounts. The first two accounts were created the same day, never tweeted anything before or after that one day, and has virtually no followers other than fellow sockpuppet accounts. The third one is a terrible attempt at gotcha trolling, who keeps tweeting under the hashtag #MuslimsRapedAnita, referring to Sarkeesian.
If you could find a single feminist who actually fell for this ridiculously stupid scheme, you would’ve presumably included those, instead of these fakes.
—
@David
Can we ban this idiot now?
@CAPSLOCK
The very first Google result for that dumbass hashtag* debunks everything you just said. All those accounts are fake, all those pictures are fake, and any feminists who saw it figured it out in about five seconds.
You – just like an embarrassing number of other morons before you – were fooled by your own ridiculous hoax. Who’s the gullible one again?
*Which I hadn’t even heard of before. Bloody hell, how many times are they going to try this shit before realising that it. Never. Works?
EDIT: Ninja’d – I wandered off to get food and didn’t refresh before posting. Oops.
MISHMISHEH I’m going to throw you a bone. The bottom line is it doesn’t matter how many examples of various feminists doing things that may or may not be disagreeable. Because that doesn’t really demonstrate anything about feminism, akin to how finding examples of violent Buddhist extremists doesn’t demonstrate anything about Buddhism. In order for you to be convincing to us, you’re going to need to engage with the framework of feminism. The academia. The theory. The lens it provides for shaping a worldview.
Unless you can explain how feminism has influenced these examples you bring up (and in doing so demonstrate even a basic understanding of feminism), rather than trying to work backwards and draw a conclusion about feminism from a hand-picked list of feminists that confirm your bias, you will remain 0% credible and 100% unconvincing.
Now, would you be so kind as to outline what it would take for us to sound credible and/or convincing to you? What sort of evidence would be required to change your mind?
Missed the edit window: It would also help if you could stop being hilariously wrong all the time. But I’m trying to be generous.
Sorry about all the typos. I wrote that comment from my phone while floating around in a sun drenched pool. I can’t see the display very well. :p
Even if women concerned about domestic violence somehow fell for the pee pants prank, how is that a men’s rights victory? Men can be victims too. How does trolling help those men. And how would falling for a prank demonstrate that feminists are evil man haters? How do you connect the dots between gullibility and hurting or exploiting men?
Why, it’s almost as if the MRM were about hating women rather than helping men :O
@IP
Thanks for providing insight into that Swedish incident. I had never heard of it.
@ALLCAPSGUY
You’re searching high and low, near and far, for so-called evidence to back up your claims.
And your evidence is crapola! Color me unshocked.
Here’s Wikipedia on Mary Daly:
Here’s the Los Angeles Times:
So the issue is a lot more nuanced than you claim. And there are no groups of feminist professors who follow her example and refuse to teach male students. Daly was it. It happened a long time ago. Get over it.
As for Valerie Solanas, her manifesto (published in 1967) was a cry from a woman who’d experienced a lot of oppression and was lashing out.
Her group, the Society for Cutting Up Men (SCUM), had one member: Solanas herself. There were no meetings, no minutes taken, no group treasury, no group actions. No committees or subcommittees of SCUM. Hardly a mainstream feminist group. Not even a fringe feminist group. One woman.
Yeah, Valerie Solanas did stab Andy Warhol in 1968.
What are you saying: that nowadays (or even back in the day) groups of feminists roam the streets (or the bars or the bedrooms), killing men? Citation needed.
Or are you saying that men never assault or kill women?
In the USA, three women are killed every day by a current or former male partner.

Thanks, SFHC, for investigating the pee-your-pants-to-demonstrate-solidarity-with-rape-victims nonincident.
@ALLCAPSGUY
Why, what’s this?
#PissForEquality: The Cruel Online Hoax That Backfired Spectacularly
A commenter named Rush says this:
http://www.mamamia.com.au/pissforequality/
@Dlouwe
Did you change your mind?
Don’t throw me a bone on this issue before you finish dealing with the other issues that you chose to pointedly ignore my cute friend.
Troll,
Have you noticed that feminists have never tried to create a hoax to make MRAs look bad?
Part of it is that we don’t need to. You make yourselves look bad. That’s why this site is still going strong after nearly six years. David never runs out of material.
Part of it is that we’re not, collectively assholes. Sure, there are individual feminists who are assholes, but being an asshole is not the sole purpose of the movement.
I’m wondering why you’re mocking feminists and our supposed gullibility though. Didn’t you just go on and on for pages about how only people who are wrong and of low intellect resort to mockery. I thought you were above all that?
@ALLCAPSGUY
As a group, we’ve dealt with your issues. You’ve chosen to pointedly ignore us.
I’m not an MRA or NRA or any other type of RA’s for that matter. I’m an egalitarian, anti-sexist; an anti-feminist in the literal sense, in that I dont subscribe to any groups with gendered agendas. I am just plain anti-feminist.
Speaking of trolls. I believe this is where you left off yesterday:
Carry on.
So the fact that your arguments are the same as those of the so-called men’s rights movement is a complete coincidence.
And the fact that, like the so-called men’s rights activists, you ignore our rebuttals, is also a complete coincidence.
And you are an “antifeminist”: the fact that the MRM is antifeminist is, once again, a complete coincidence.
Got it.
Who’s got “I’m not an MRA but…” on their bingo card!?
@Violet, did you put those on the bingo cards?
Who’s got “I can’t see your rebuttals” on their bingo card?
I didn’t but I could….I’ll also add “How can I be misogynistic? I’m a woman myself” and of course “I’m not a misogynist, I’m a woman hater–GET IT RIGHT, STUPID FEMINISTS!”
@Kat: Another one!
Shit! This is a good day for Bingo squares
Why not?
Hey troll,
One of your fellow anti-feminists just said she would support nuking Mecca. This would kill millions of people. Including men. https://www.wehuntedthemammoth.com/2016/08/17/judgybitch-id-support-nuking-mecca-if-i-thought-it-would-be-effective-against-islam/
Still want to go with your claim that it’s feminism that is violent?
No…I can’t get to the MRA Bingo edit button! I did, however, manage to add “I can’t be a misogynist…I’m a woman myself!” on chiiil’s Women Against Feminism Bingo
