Yesterday was a big day for Roosh Valizadeh, pickup artist, rape legalization advocate and would-be philosopher of “neomasculinity.” Some highlights:
Roosh was the inspiration for a demonstration against rape culture in Montreal.
Roughly 100 demonstrators held a peaceful demonstration in Montreal’s Norman Bethune Square targeting rape culture in general and Roosh in particular. It is not known how many of the demonstrators were undercover Roosh operatives dressed as “a homosexual hipster (i.e. male feminist).” Best estimates put the number at zero. The rally was covered by both CTV News and The Montreal Gazette.
The mayor of Montreal weighed in on the issue, declaring in a tweet that as far as he was concerned Roosh was not welcome in his city.
On the Roosh V forum, meanwhile, Roosh’s fans scoured the news footage for identifiable faces of people they could smear, and debated whether or not they WB (“would bang”) or WNB (“would not bang”) various women who had attended the demonstration.
Roosh (apparently) gave his talk, celebrating afterwards by posting a video claiming a “historic victory in Montreal.”
After calling on his followers to spread false information about the super seekrit location of his talk, as part of what he charmingly called “Operation Goebbels,” Roosh apparently gave his talk in a rented room at a Montreal restaurant.
Afterwards, evidently quite proud of himself, Roosh posted a victory video on Youtube. On the Roosh V forum, his fans happily posted celebratory gifs, including this one.
Donning a wig — no, really — Roosh hit the bars in an evident attempt to find a woman in Montreal who was not repulsed by him.
He failed, as this video of a woman tossing a drink in his face suggests.
Roosh went on Twitter to report being assaulted by “a mob,” and apparently reported the incident to police.
He might have undermined his case a little by suggesting it was “worth” it because, well, he got some action out of it, sort of.

The woman with the “sexy legs” responded, and suggested that Roosh had in fact put his hands on her first.
On the Roosh forums, Roosh’s fans urged him to file charges for assault and to sue everyone in sight. And debated whether or not they WB the alleged beer-pourer.
Meanwhile, Roosh’s plan to smear his opponents online continued apace.
“By Monday,” one Roosh fan wrote, “we’ll have identified every single one of these pieces of garbage and work on decimating their future career options.”
According to this Tweet, Roosh himself was threatening to falsely report one of the organizers to social services as a bad mother.

On Twitter, the #IStandWithRooshV hashtag has been having a little trouble getting going, generating all of 3 Tweets as of noon on Sunday.
This does not look like a grand victory for Roosh, unless his aim was to show the world what terrible shits he and his supporters are.
Oh goodie, another of Rooshie’s minions here to tell us that our grievances are based on a difference of opinion.
Listen, “difference of opinion” is debating whether Futurama is better than The Simpsons (P.S:: it is). What Roosh is doing is classified hate speech which is not only morally abhorrent but ILLEGAL outside of the American freeze peach bubble that most ROKers reside in. Canada doesn’t HAVE a First Amendment. What Roosh is doing is encouraging the rape of women. And you guys keep denying that because your definition of rape is razor-thin narrow. It’s not us that has the attitude problem, buddy.
I’m willing to bet that of Roosh was given half a chance, he would have raped a vulnerable woman while in Montreal. It is his modus operandi, after all.
I would say that it’s possible he actually did (I don’t think he’s been accounted for all the nights he stayed in Montreal), but I’m pretty sure the slimebucket would be bragging all over twitter about it if he did. So I think and hope the women of Montreal were safe from him.
How can we be “leftists” and “anarchists” and “feminazis” while not standing for anything? Why do you guys never make it through one comment without self-contradicting?
Re: Humor
The Latin American version of Slutwalk coined a phrase “I don’want your catcall, I want your respect”
Someone later on twisted to “I don’t want your catcall, I want you to die”. It didn’t get as many supporters, though.
@Alan
I liked the cinema analogy, I think it works pretty well.
I would add that the imbalance is not only in the quantity of movies chosen, there are a few dynamics which reinforce power over time, for example:
– the person who got to choose first has the emotional advantage of feeling his choices are 100% legitimate, which will probably reflect on the other person’s perceptions
-the person who didn’t choose during the first year will have their taste and choice in movies affected by the choices of the other person
-the person who got to choose fisrt will probably know more about movies than the other one (since never getting to choose will probably make them less interested in the options available)
-once the second person finally gets to choose, they will still probably be heavily influenced by the other person’s opinions, taste and past choices
These are the ones I came up off the top of my head. These are especially meaningful if we apply them not the cinema but, say, political participation.
The interesting and often frustrating thing about us humans, is how overwhelmingly influenced by our context we are.
So, choosing by myself time, after time, after time, builds on my idea of how the world works. And being left to watch what other chooses, absolutely affects my worldview (and therefore self-view!!).
So, I think I wouldn’t go for either 1 or 2, but more for: People should create the most democratic and horizontal space as possible, then discuss in depth what the heck I going on, in how many ways it is wrong, and then come up with all possible solutions we can think of.
And then we could choose what the best way to fix it.
I know, it definitely looks like I always choose the most complicated and twisted path… Al I can say in my defense is that this is what I get when consulting my deepest and most honest beliefs on equality.
@a
I assume ‘Wow.’ is meant to summarize our feelings about your comment.
Assumptions, contradictions, cheap offences, ableism, “there are people who have it worse than you, so don’t fucking complain”, just plain lies, and atrocious use of ellipses. Can’t say I’m impressed.
Btw, one of Roosh’s followers suggested identifying the women on the demonstration to “make their lives hell”, and Roosh suggested reporting a woman as an “unfit” mother because she has children and uses the internet, and you can find proof of this in this very post. So, I dunno, maybe think before banging your head against the keyboard.
Meanwhile, Roosh is transparently rallying people to dox women on his youtube channel. How is this not transparently hate speech?
This actually comes at a very important time for internet harassment in Canada. The first case where someone faced charges of criminal internet harassment just had its closing statements recently today. If Gregory Alan Elliott is found guilty, not only would the woman in the video be able to say she covered the camera in self defense, but Roosh and the people who tried to help him dox could be charged with public incitement of hatred.
My mistake- closing submissions were not today but two weeks ago
Omg, so sorry for overposting, but have you seen Roosh gets beered, thug life edition?
Re: Dubai drowning thing
I find this especially frustrating considering that (wrong religion, I know) Mengzi explicitly used this example: he validated social rules forbidding contact between unmarried men and women but cited the situation of a drowning woman as an example of why the rule should not be absolute and that compassion could be more important than propriety.
Hi, Roosh! Still butthurt from that ass-kicking an unsubmissive little woman handed you in Montréal? Still smarting because all those better-looking boys from the bar called you a piece of shit (which you are, and no doubt also smell like)? Don’t worry, there’s more of the same in store for you if you try it in Toronto. And then you’ll have something to REALLY be sad about.
See ya…wouldn’t wanna BE ya!
I actually did talk about this in my original post as well. ^_^;;
Oh boy, we’re coming out swinging aren’t we? This is gonna be good.
…except for the woman he tried to “pick up” at the bar.
And the fact that he teaches men how to abuse and manipulate women into sex, which would cause lasting damage. But you don’t give two fucks about that, do ya? Nope. Because we feeemales are only good for sex to you, and you don’t give a shit how you get it.
But, no, it doesn’t “harm” anyone right?
> Compares feminists to nazis
> is defending people who use nazi gifs and jokes all the time
Cool story, bro.
And of course, gotta sneak in that cheap shot ad hominem at David, because it’s not like you can attack his arguments, right?
Are you implying that we, commenters on WHTM, and David, all tried to “hunt [Roosh] down and physically attack him”?
Because I live in California, bro. I didn’t do shit.
And oh noes, Roosh got a beer thrown on him, and people told him to get the fuck out of Montreal. Misandry! [/sarcasm]
Yes, rapists make me sad. Men talking about rape and manipulation as “game” makes me feel sad. And very, very angry.
Because Roosh and people who think like him are trying to make victims out of women to get their rocks off, and that’s not fucking right.

Or, better yet, a manslation:
“3rd wave feminism doesn’t stand for anything I personally think is important, so it stands for nothing at all!”
You could, of course, remedy this by actually talking to us instead of coming in here and missing with lame-ass attempted cheap shots and learn what we stand for, but of course, you’re not willing to put in the effort, because you’ve already convinced yourself that we’re wrong and evil and out to make it so you can’t have sex. Boo hoo. What a loss.
Oooh, a racist dogwhistle! Too bad I’ve heard this song so many times before.
“Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia” (I’ll give you points for being specific, though. Most trolls just drop THE MIDDLE EAST like it’s some kind of bomb) doesn’t need our saving. They need to be heard. They need us to boost their voices to places where they cannot be heard. Fuck off with your “Great White Savior” complex.
And even if “Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia” did need “saving”, we are capable of caring about them (and we do) and still caring about this. We are complex creatures, as much as Roosh would have you believe otherwise, and we are capable of caring about more than one thing at once.
We can still stand up against a rapist and vouch for the women in “Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia”.
He’s calling someone putting their hand over a camera “assault”, and yet he and his clique have the gall to claim that women are “over-dramatic” and “making a big deal out of nothing”.
My eyes cannot roll any harder.
Oh, and now he’s trying to dox the woman for not letting his little mole record. Because of course.
And he’s still trying to be a martyr. The whole thing’s laughable.
You’ve got to love it when PUAs tell us that we should shut up because Middle Eastern women have it worse. This coming from dudes who think not having their boners touched by HB10s and having to look at fat women are grievous enough offenses that they must spend hours on the internet complaining?
@ Lux
Actually, that idea of not being limited to two contrary positions was in vogue in politics here during the Blair years. “The Third Way” they called it.
I hadn’t considered that another option could be that we sit down and choose a film *together*.
I think that may reflect your preference for consensus where possible, whereas, as a barrister from a common law jurisdiction I’m probably ingrained in thinking in terms of the adversarial process (i.e. there are two positions and one or the other wins outright).
The irony is that nowadays as litigation is frowned upon and considered a last resort, we do tend to negotiate a lot and nearly all (civil) cases are settled by “compromise agreement” (that’s actually what they’re called).
I hope somebody is screenshotting everything on his forum and blog. It could come in extremely handy as evidence against him. Because if he insists on making a legal case of this, well…a legal case can and should be made against him, too, with the minimum effect of proving his charges to be spurious.
@Alan
I agree with your diagnosis here.
Coincidentally enough, the original 1945 Peronism advocated for a “Third Position” regarding WWII, as in not siding with any of the parts in conflict (maybe not pulled off flawlessly, but it was the official discourse). I’m amazed at all this maybe-not-so-random parallels between Argentina an the UK. I mean, I was aware of some of them, but new ones seem to keep popping up!
As for negotiating, I definitely most decidedly lean that way ???? even a bit too much on that side for your average peronist.
In fact, Peron had this super-duper ability with people, being extremely good at cordiality, negotiation and conciliation, and I think that’s what reeeeeally got me into his politics
Others appreciate more his military mind when creating a strategy, and the authoritarian tendencies which turned a diffuse movement into a sharply organized political legion.
This two positions are also combined with the strong sense of loyalty among all peronists and especially towards the leaders of the movement.
I’m realizing Peronism has very heavily influenced my idea of politics in general, and of gender politics in particular.
You know, after typing endlessly about it for three days in a row, lol
Also, Argentina laws against rape included until a few decades ago the concept of “honorable woman”, as in, only a minority of privileged women were considered under this law.
Also, it was considered a “crime against honor” of the woman’s male owner, rather than assault on the woman herself.
So much ewww there. I’m glad we were able to move on.
I hope so too. And I hope it’s the woman who threw the beer on him. Or, at the very least, other people involved with the protest.
Oh. My. Fucking. God.
That is *LITERALLY* the most pathetic tweet I have ever seen in my life.
For FUCKS SAKE Roosh, come on! You’re a fucking mighty alpha PUA. Tell us about how you whipped out the ultimate neg to make all their panties hit the floor with enough force to turn it into soggy swiss cheese. Tell us about how they lined up to suck your dick while their mangina white knight beta orbiters wailed and gnashed their teeth because they’ll never get the pussy you do no matter how much they suck up to the feminazi landwhales. Tell us about how you pumped and dumped every chick in Toronto and they all killed themselves because they were unlovable feminazis who would never know another alpha.
For the love of god, this is teenage “teehee I touched boobies” level shit! I expect this out of my 13-year old cousin, except for the fact that he’s smart enough to not actually do this. Don’t you have the secrets to making women so horny they can’t think of anything else but slobbering all over your cock? Or at least getting them drunk enough so they can’t remember you sticking it in them? And your’e telling it was worth a horse piss bath to touch some woman’s legs? What the fuck, Roosh?
Correction, Montreal, not Toronto. For some reason I thought all this was in Toronto. Whups.
@ Lux
In England a woman killing her husband used to be charged as ‘petty treason’; and that’s not just using ‘treason’ as a betrayal against her husband; it was actually seen as a crime against the state; a form of sedition that threatened the stability of society.
OH MY GOD. Roosh wasn’t assaulted. He had beer thrown on him and then a mob followed him down the street calling him mean names. That’s what happens when you sit on the internet all day, calling women c*nts, bragging about how you raped women, and wanting rape to be made legal. This is not assault. This is what we call consequences. Of course I’m not the least bit surprised that MRAs don’t want to accept the consequences of their actions, given how loudly they wail about having to pay child support.
PS I’m actually fucking delighted that this happened. I hope it happens to more repellent MRAs and PUAs.
I don’t think those PUA jackoffs know there are legal consequences for cyberbullying in canada and you can be charged with a list of criminal offenses. Also, that inciting harassment is in itself criminal harassment.
