Roosh Valizadeh — the racist, woman-hating, fat-shaming pickup artist and rape legalization proponent — is trying to reinvent himself as a philosopher of sorts, a man with unique insights into the perils of masculinity in “a degenerate world.” He seems undaunted by the fact that his unique insights are neither unique nor, well, insights; he’s little more than a regurgitator of a lot of old, bad ideas, and a not-very-competent regurgitator at that. If he were a mother bird, his chicks would all die.
Part of Roosh’s attempted reinvention is a “world” lecture tour this summer that started in Berlin in late June and that will, barring mishaps, end in Toronto in mid-August.
Tomorrow, he’s making an appearance in Manhattan, where he will be making a canned speech on “The State Of Man” followed by several hours of Q&A and mingling with his fans. Or at least that portion of his fans who have managed to stay awake through 40 minutes of Roosh droning on in his characteristic monotone.
On his “Roosh World Tour” website, Roosh highlights some of the topics he addresses in his speech, including
- “How to mentally approach living in a degenerate world”
- “An examination of three different time periods men faced in the past”
- “The overall benefits we can expect from women in the pursuit of relationships with them”
- “One important need that all men require in life”
Based on the portion of Roosh’s oeuvre that I have managed to force myself to read, I’m going to guess that this “need that all men require” — isn’t a “need” by definition something that is required? — is women touching their boners (no fatties). Or something else equally stupid. Honestly, I don’t care. I feel a bit sorry for any man pathetic enough to pay the $47-$59 he is charging for his “4-hour event.”
Roosh is keeping the exact location of the event secret until the last minute “to prevent unattractive feminists from petitioning the event,” as he puts it on his reservations page.
Roosh’s so-called World Tour is only hitting 4 countries in total. One country he is not visiting: Iceland.
Why might this be? Well, the last time he went to Iceland, Roosh convinced a woman who’d lost her phone and been abandoned by her friends after a night of drinking in a Reykjavik bar to come to his apartment. Then this happened, as he himself tells the story in his Bang Iceland eBook:
I hooked her arm and off we went. … There had to be a moment when she realized that all her friends are gone and the only reasonable option left was to go home with a strange man she had just met.
While walking to my place, I realized how drunk she was. In America, having sex with her would have been rape, since she couldn’t legally give her consent. It didn’t help matters that I was relatively sober, but I can’t say I cared or even hesitated.
I won’t rationalize my actions, but having sex is what I do. If a girl is willing to walk home with me, she’s going to get the dick no matter how much she has drunk. I’ll protect myself by using a condom (most of the time), but I know that when it comes to sex, one ounce of hesitation or a feeling of morality will get me nothing.
Quotes his, emphasis mine.
This isn’t philosophy. It’s not even pickup “artistry.” It’s just what rapists do.
EDIT: A few tweaks and a fixed typo in the headline; added the bit about the “secret” venue.
… I feel really bad about loving the Deep Dream stuff, especially the shoggoth ones, now. Sorry, all. ^^;;
I’ll repeat what everyone said about googling trypophobia; don’t. Don’t you do it, you poor things. I don’t even have trypophobia, and the images there grossed me out. I had no idea trypophobia was so common, by the way. I’m glad you guys who didn’t know about it before have found the right word to put on your feelings.
I have a hard time believing that Roosh ever said one should respect a woman’s “no”. But even if he did once say that, didn’t he recently make a blog post specifically about how “no” does not mean “no”, and that the only word that really means “no” is “stop”? Although something tells me he wouldn’t respect “stop” either.
@Robjec
What about the part where you’re performing irreversible, almost entirely unnecessary surgery on a fucking infant? We’re really gonna consider a non-existent, or so insignificant it might as well be non-existent, possible health benefit in some people, when we’re weighing it against, y’know, bodily autonomy? Aren’t we supposed to care about bodily autonomy?
Sorry if this is perceived as a what about teh menz comment, but I just don’t fucking get this.
I must be the opposite of a trypophobe. I Googled it and found those pictures so satisfying and I wanted to touch them.
Not sure if there’s a name for it but I’m a picker. Like I love squeezing people’s spots and blackheads. When I was a kid I used to put poppy seeds in my hair so I could pick them out. I compulsively pick the skin on my fingers. So those trypophobia pics just make me wish I could pick at them.

I think you will enjoy it.
In other news, turns out Mr.GetitGoing is the author of this fine RoK post:
http://www.returnofkings.com/27913/6-reasons-why-fat-women-are-defective
So probably not worth bothering with.
@Futrelle
Hahahaha! So, the only people paying to see Roosh live are other RoK contributors? What a surprise.
He’s a contributor and they still make him pay to attend the event?
Roosh sure drives a hard bargain.
So, GetItTrolling’s post can be accurately translated as “I am not a plant and I approve of this product or service”? =P
And probably something about fat chicks.
Haha! So Getitgoing is just one of Roosh’s existing flunkies, and a fat shamer to boot. Any sympathy I might have had for his wasting his money just evaporated. It does suck that he had to buy his own ticket, that’s like being charged to attend a school reunion.
My two cents of the issue of RIC is that I’m opposed to it. I haven’t yet heard an argument in favour of circumcising babies that isn’t based on emotion or religion. I can’t bear it when MRAs draw false equivalence between RIC and FGM, but I do oppose both.
I googled the word which shall not be named, and just wanted to say: it’s only awful if you are one of the people who finds it awful. Except for a few that are deliberately gross, like open wounds. And even those are just gross, not existentially horrifying. To me, obvs. I get that some people feel the horror, which I am not dismissing. This, however. provides the answer to the question why we google that which we are told not to google: curiosity, and to see if our reaction mirrors others.
The deep dream images don’t bother me either, so probably pretty predictable that I’m not a phobic.
I love how GetitGoing and others of his ilk are always.

“Waaah, waaah, waaah. Why are the wimmins so emotionaaal. Why caaaaan’t they logiiiiiiic.”
@David oh my goodness, thank you for that. Just spent ages watching videos with my kids. So good.
And as for GetItGoing… I hope you grow the fuck up at some point. Until that point, kindly fucking stay off the internet. Unless it’s reddit, I’m sure you’ll fit right in there.
@NicolaLuna me too! *fist bump* I am luckily married to a fella who loves being picked at and saves his good pimples for me. DERMATALOGICAL MISANDRY
@David omg thank you. Soooooo good. There goes my morning.
My sister is like me, and she works at a vet office – whenever they have something gross she sends me detailed pics. Draining an abcess, so satisfying!
Testing…testing…Site Glitch Mammoth, kiss my ass…testing…
Ahah. Now that I can finally comment again on this thread, here goes:
Wow. That article (and I use the term loosely) is simply PATHETIC. As is the dude who wrote it. If he is, as he says, actually paying to attend Roosh’s little drone-fest, and not just saying that to drum up business in all the wrong places (and make us question all that we know about Roosh), well, that’s just sad. A RoK site contributor paying to attend, instead of getting a freebie? PATHETIC.
Also, I can hardly wait to hear how poorly attended this little shindig was. My money’s on cancellation due to low attendance (and hence inability to recoup venue costs), which Roosh will promptly attempt to spin, à la Elam, as the doing of “unattractive feminists” scaring the shit out of all the poor widdle Alpha Males.
Going to a Roosh lecture series seems to me to be just shy of going to see Paul Bernardo give motivational speeches.

So, JB is trying to start a hashtag. #shootafeministintheface. Check out @takedownMRAs on Twitter.
Holy shit. The Awful.
@GetItGoing
“I’m one of those “pathetic” men”
Yes, you are.
“nor does Roosh advocate sexual misconduct. Actually he has clearly stated, verbatim, that one must respect a woman’s choice to say “no.””
He also wrote the admission that he rapes drunk women when he feels like he can get away with it, that’s quoted verbatim in David’s article. And I know it’s an accurate quote because I read the original on Roosh’s website years ago.
@GetItGoing
Well, let me try to drive this point home: Roosh V’s a rapist. He’s a rapist. He’s a rapist. HE IS A RAPIST. And he advocated the mass rape of women on private property. He raped at least one woman by his own admission and thinks others should be able to do the same. And you paid money to see him. Way to go.
@Robjec
“I’m not sure I agree with such a cut and dry reasoning of circumcision.”
Like FGM, MGM without urgent, obvious medical need is a violation of a child’s right to bodily autonomy. Both should be outlawed, as FGM is starting to be in first world nations.
“I don’t belive the negatives associated with it have been proved when performed by a doctor”
Children sometimes die or are permanently deformed from circumcisions performed by doctors too, although though as you might expect, not nearly as many as in religious or tribal ceremonies.
“There is also a rare desiease (I think it’s 1 in either 500 or 5000 sorry I can’t think of the name now which only affect uncircumcised men, where the glands secret the wrong enzyme which leads to extreme pain.”
The only well documented condition used to excuse circumcision is phimosis, which is easily treated with a course of steroid cream.
It’s also worth mentioning that the three studies in Africa that claimed to prove that circumcision reduced incidence of HIV were conducted by the same religious, pro-circumcision organisation, & were conducted in a completely unscientific manner.
@Nequam
“Actually the really wrongo thing about the Surinam toad was that the Surinam Board of Tourism created a safer sex ad based on it.”
OMFG, I NEED to see this ad!
