Just a little note for my regular readers: Posting has been a bit light lately because I’ve got strep throat. It started kicking in big time on Sunday. I’ve been taking antibiotics since Monday and getting lots of liquid and as much sleep as I can, but it’s still going strong, alas.
It’s pretty terrible timing, as there’s a lot of horrible and/or ridiculous stuff going on in Misogynyland these days. But you all should absolutely keep sending me tips! I’ll get to as much of it as I can.
Ick. Ow. Remember to take all of your antibiotics.
I’ve had strep almost, but not quite, frequently enough to get myself a free tonsillectomy. Not fun. I’ve even ended up on an IV due to that damn bacteria. Take care of yourself. You don’t want to end up like I did.
I hope you get better soon. <3
Ugh. I know what that’s like. Feel better soon.
Oh no! Strep is the worst. Eat lots of ice cream and take lots of ibuprofen.
That sucks that antibiotics aren’t doing it. My coworker recently had strep and had to get an antibiotic shot in her butt to get rid of it 🙁
I’m surprised and pleased that I didn’t catch it because I’m so prone to strep.
Have some nurse kitties to cheer you up. Kitties have great bedside manners.

Our feminist friend Katie is a kitty nurse? Go figure! All hail Katie.

I’ve had strep throat several times. It’s a bastard.
That pic sure is trippy, though!
Thanks, everyone! And thanks, nurse kitties!
WWTH, I’m not sure the antibiotics are supposed to shorten the length of time I have it, but more to keep me from being contagious forever and to help me avoid possible other infections.
Bina, I know, it makes strep throat look kind of cool. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: No matter what your “friends” tell you, strep throat is NOT COOL. Stay in school, kids! (Well, unless you have strep, in which case do not stay in school.)
Also, another public service announcement: do not do a google image search for strep throat unless you want to see hundreds of really gross pics.
@David
You can say that about everything.
Hope you feel better soon, David!
My tots have so far avoided strep throat, although they’ve had colds aplenty!
@pandapool — did you see where Fallout 4 announced that the dog won’t die?
Get well soon David.
Hot chicken soup might help a bit
@WWTH those kittens are adorable.
@Falconer
What? The dig won’t die?
…
I actually don’t like that.
Must be something going around. I came down with some kind of throat infection today.
I like to gargle with warm salt water when I have a sore throat. Get well soon!
@pandapool: That’s what I’ve heard. I read it on the Internet! It must be true!
They’re advertising the presence of the dog so much that I think it must be a large part of gameplay.
I hope you get better soon. I know what you are going through. I use to get strep every single year and multiple sore throats. Awful. I really like warm lemonade (just put it in the microwave to heat it up) and some honey. Also, make sure to finish the full course of antibiotics even if you start to feel better. That way you can fight the development of antibiotic resistant strains. But overall, feel better!
When I was an adolescent my tonsils got all swollen to about 10 times their normal size. The doctor recommended I not get a tonsillectomy because unless you’re a little kid, the risks are supposedly greater than the rewards. Now they’re permanently large and really ugly. They don’t hurt unless I’m sick but they’re pretty nasty looking.
@Falconer
I think they’re advertising so much because Dogmeat is such a fan favorite. I know there was some ads for Fallout 3 that featured him; he’s pretty much the only companion advertised.
I hope the dog isn’t a big part of the game, still. I never really liked him because he couldn’t carry stuff. Cute? Yes. Pratical? Nope.
My husband got strep throat and tonsillitis repeatedly until his ENT finally authorized tonsillectomy. And adenoidectomy and hey, let’s take half your uvula while we’re in there. Now he only snores instead of having apnea.
So what I’m saying here is take care of yourself and don’t sweat the Mammothariat; we’ll be here when you get back. And those stains will come right out with a little club soda.
Fuck.

Take care of yourself, David. I hope you feel better soon.
Huuuuuusskkkkeeeeeeeezzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@WWTH
Welp, I’m reading the New Jersey article…
… … … … … …
I noticed you’ve posted a comment.
… … … … … …
I fucking hate everything.
What if that guy shot the kid when the police where jacking off? What if he started randomly shooting at people in a crowd? How many people needed to die before those fucking took their fingers out of their asses and do something?
THIS IS ONLY SOLIDIFYING MY FUCK THE POLICE MENTALITY! SERIOUSLY.
Rest up, the horrible and ridiculous stuff will still be there next week and the weeks after that, it’s not like these asshats have anything better to do.

Predictably there’s already a ton of ableism in what people are saying about the Charleston shooter. Despite the fact that he hasn’t even been identified yet so HOW THE FUCKING FUCK DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT DIAGNOSES A SUSPECT THAT HASN’T EVEN BEEN IDENTIFIED HAS???
