Last year, I wrote about a repellant little “community” on Reddit: the PhilosophyofRape subreddit, devoted to promoting what it called the corrective rape of “filthy, unmitigated, sluts … [t]hat badly need to be punished. Badly.”
Reddit being what it is, the subreddit remains up to this day. And now the folks behind it have taken their repugnant “philosophy” to the web. Earlier this week, one of the subreddit’s numerous moderators, a veritable cauldron of bigotries who calls himself European88, announced the grand opening of a new Philosophy of Rape website. He urged his fellow “philosophers” to “[s]ubscribe and submit your rape tips … !”Â
Like the subreddit before it, the site declares war on “harpies,” “hussies,” “[d]ecrepid filth, dressed like hookers and reaking like vodka” and “Belligerent. Entitled. Selfie taking, Tindr-whoring, Teenage-walking-herpes-sores.”
The “philosophers” also take aim at “vain, vile, venemous, femenist, filth,” particularly
[t]he kind who get conferences to talk about mens suicide rates shut down. The type of hussies who have lobbied effectively to remove due process from proceedings against men on college campuses.
In  a post titled “Why is Rape Necessary,” the site sets forth its case for “correction.” (I’ve bolded the worst bits.)
1) Rape did serve important, healthy, and natural biological purposes historically in limiting the extent to which female bad behavior can go.
2. Women in many ways are like children, and most can not self-regulate very well, so in the absence of something like parents or a natural limiting force like rape, they just run amok and destroy their selves and everything they touch.
3. Because rape is so completely arm-barred back by the state, and feminism has grown to be this infestation that caused even the social consequences for female behavior to dissappear, we find ourselves in a precarious situation. Unbridled female sluttishness, entitlement, narcissism, vileness and destruction gone viral.
4. Such women need to be Corrected. Humbled. Brought back down to a healthy place and realistic mindset. For their own good as well as that of those around them. That particular corrective action is quite clear, the one that used to naturally limit the behavior: rape.
5. We are here to provide encouragement and advice how to do that and do it safely. Regression analysis to find out which variables make it less likely to get into legal trouble. Very few women report the rapes, what can you do to make it even less likely? Example: remind the victim that “no one will believe them”. When they orgasm (which is actually very common during rape, Google it) speak up and let them know that you are aware of it and that it will come out during trial if they reported it.
Yes, that’s right. After complaining that the feminist “infestation” has enabled “unbridled” female awfulness by drastically reducing the “natural limiting force [of] rape,” the rape “philosophers” acknowledge that most men who rape women face zero consequences for their action. Indeed, in another post, one “philosopher” declares that
We want to teach men that although it may be easier than ever for an innocent man to be convicted of rape when a consensual partner has buyers remorse, it’s also easier than ever for a guilty man to get away Scott free – so long as it’s done the way we advocate: actual rape-rape, as in dark-alley, ski mask, stranger rape.
Emphasis mine. Some of the rape “tips” offered on the site are wholly unoriginal:
Tell the harlot that you come from a rich family and that she will never successfully convict you of raping her in court. Â Tell her that, if she tries to sue you, you will counter-sue for a huge amount of money that will bankrupt her.
Pretty sure that one’s been used before.
Tell the harlot that, if she tells the police about the rape, you will kill her entire family. Â If she has children, tell her that you will rape her children before killing them.
That one too.
Other tips are little more than sadistic fantasies:
Put sugar into the harlot’s vagina to give her a yeast infection.  This will be a mark of shame on her that she will be unable to forget, and she will have to relive the rape every time she seeks treatment for it. …
After raping the harlot, steal her clothes and write “WHORE” on her chest with a red marker.  She will be forced to walk around naked with “WHORE” written on her chest, and it will be extremely humiliating for her.
Whether these rape “philosophers” are actually living out their repellant philosophy, I couldn’t tell you. They insist that they’re quite sincere.
Indeed, in a posting on slutHATE, one rape “philosopher” assured skeptics that
The Philosophy of Rape is as serious as a heart attack. We are a movement of angry, fed-up men – much like you – who have decided to take matters into our own hands. The simple fact of the matter is, simply sitting around and complaining about sluts on the Internet isn’t going to change anything. We need real-world action to correct the slut problem. That’s why The Philosophy of Rape was created. Sluts need real-world punishment, and we want to train an army of holy warriors to dish out that punishment. Your chances of getting caught are already slim, and we will teach you how to make 100% sure that you don’t get caught.Â
In another comment, he reported that while
I can’t openly admit to how many harlots I’ve corrected, but let’s just say that I do indeed practice what I preach.
He offered this lovely bit of advice to anyone thinking of following in his (alleged) footsteps:
It definitely helps if you build up to the act. Keep edging closer and closer to rape until you’re finally ready to do the deed. For example, send a harlot an anonymous message telling her you’re gonna rape her, then write “HARLOT” on her car, then finally rape her when the moment is right. Build up your courage by first committing smaller acts.
He urged others to take up his peculiar fight for, er, justice:
We are going to build an army of holy warriors to correct harlots and feminazi whores around the world. All it takes is a few Elliot Rodger types to get the ball rolling. What do you have to lose? Enlist in our rape army today, and we will teach you how to correct a new harlot a week and get away with it.
Apparently unafraid of legal consequences, the person posting all this gave what he said was his real name, claiming to be “Brother” Dean Saxton, a campus “activist” of sorts who several years ago caused a stir after holding a one-man protest at the University of Arizona, holding a sign reading “You Deserve Rape.”
In another thread, “Brother Dean” explained why he felt this slogan was so effective in angering feminists: .
NOTHING pisses off feminazis more than reminding them that they are filthy harlots who desperately need to be – and, deep down, WANT TO BE – raped.
He went on to explain why the kind of rape he advocates is the most public-spirited of all the different varieties of rape:
N*ggers rape because they are feral animals who cannot control their primitive biological urges. We rape because we are holy warriors on a mission to correct harlots and purge society of unmitigated female entitlement. The Philosophy of Rape is, ultimately, about fixing society. The only way to correct harlots and feminazis is by raping them.
If “Brother Dean” is European88, he’s kept himself busy since his college protest as a moderator of 157 of Reddit’s most loathsome subreddits, including /r/CoonTown, /r/WhiteRights,  /r/nazi, /r/GasTheKikes, /r/Chimpout, /r/StormfrontForums and the lovely /r/N*ggerSafari.
Some of the slutHATE regulars dismissed “Brother Dean” as “disinfo” and “just another frustrated virgin in his basement spreading shit.” frenchy91, for his part, noted that
while i really don’t give a shit who you could rape as long as it’s not my girlfriend, nor familly member, i think you op should get raped by a group of n*ggers, just to know how it feels, then you could objectively speak about who diserve it or not. for now, you just sound like a desperate mysogincel
This is apparently what passes for a “moderate” position on slutHATE. Others there found Brother Dean’s message inspirational. A commenter calling himself mvp wrote that
i definitely support this movement
its time to fight back
“Fuck it,” wrote another. “I’ll rape a bitch for you.”
It would be easy enough to dismiss all of this as nothing more than the ridiculous fantasies of “frustrated virgin[s]” or the work of trolls. I really hope that’s all it is.
But we should remember that slutHATE is essentially a reincarnation of PUAhate, an online forum that was frequented by a young man named, yes, Elliot Rodger, who posted similarly hateful and similarly implausible-sounding comments there before setting out one evening a little over a year ago, intending to “slaughter every single spoiled, stuck-up, blonde slut” in a popular sorority house at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

… Jian Ghomeshi, the angry, violent, woman-hating serial rapist, is an “SJW”?
Huh. I knew they didn’t understand SJ terminology, adjectives, nouns or basic English, but it seems that they don’t even understand their own Goddamn buzzwords now.
I know cognitive dissonance is nothing new, but having read that site I notice that while he excoriates women for being promiscuous, he also equates the trauma of being raped with the pain of being rejected for sex, and hates on women for not having sex. I also noticed in the elaborate rape fantasy he relates in one posts is the rape of a ‘respectable’ married woman with children, the type of woman he claims not to target.
This doesn’t come as any surprise, but I just wanted to point out how these guys always manage to contradict themselves.
I remember back in my OKCupid days there was this nasty fake account where a man would indulge his rape fantasies, and they were all of women who’s apartments he broke into at night, in other words ‘real’ victims (the quotes are because that’s how rape apologists would see it). Misogynists will claim that they’re angry with feminists and false rape accusers, but really it’s just same old, same old hatred of women.
It’s cold comfort, but I did notice that PoR’s site doesn’t appear to have much traffic, I only saw two comments, one was a pingback from WHTM, the other was a racial slur from someone called ‘KKK’. That said, I do agree that this person is very dangerous, and he should be investigated.
Oh no, you’re not condoning what they’re posting, you’re just “helpfully” letting us know that we shouldn’t object to it because it makes the rape advocates happy to have offended people. Fuck off.
@FE_Power
1. I know that’s what they call themselves, but you should understand why “/btard” is ableist. Just call them “4Channers.”
2. You know what not taking rape and murder threats seriously, because “Oh, they’re just trolling/joking/not really going to do it,” results in? Rape and murder victims. Just ask the police’s track record or PUAHate or 4Chan’s body count (yes, 4Chan has a body count).
I just read the RoK piece Josh Miller referred to, I see Matt Forney’s up to his tricks again. Interesting he chooses to make comparisons with writers who are more successful then he will ever be, sour grapes much?
And since when was the Marquis de Sade a feminist? The only defence on de Sade I can muster is that much of his work was vicious satire against authority, but nowhere have I read of him respecting the autonomy of women.
I’ve been raped. In fact, without meaning to be crude, I was raped front and back which these losers would probably think of as doubly humiliating.
But I have news for them. I am not diminished. I am not degraded. I am not scared. I AM powerful, successful, strong, loving and fierce. I have survived things that would make them crumble and have come out of those things even stronger and more full of love and empathy rather than becoming hardened or terrified.
They are the ones who are scared. Scared of our power, that we are able to love ourselves (selfies), that we enjoy sex (tindr), that we can drink vodka and have fun. That’s why they want to “correct” us, to try to convince themselves that they are the powerful ones.
Sickening. How __’d up would someone have to be to write that stuff? As others have said here, I thought incitement to violence was illegal in a lot of countries. This shouldn’t be ignored by the police.
This is still Josh Miller, I’m just switching over to my usual handle Doc Ockham.
I know I shouldn’t feed the trolls (I guess technically I’m being one from their POV) but I left another post on that insanity article over at RoK. I’m sorry, I just can’t help it! I really ripped into them, but a heads up if anyone wants some entertainment, I’m sure it’ll fire up a shit-storm (if it doesn’t get deleted again!)
Thanks for the fbi tip link, Aunt Edna.
FE_Power, there’s probably going to be a day that “btards” lose but it won’t be just them. If they continue to abuse the power of anonymity like they do (by threatening others, or encouraging others to act out violently) there just won’t be anonymity anymore.
It would definitely be ironic if the malicious groups out there (i’m looking at you too Reddit), which trumpet from the rooftops about free speech and censorship, ultimately end up being responsible for bringing such censorship about. It’s a damn shame that something like that would have to happen in order for people to act like civilized human beings.
Also, fyi, trolls’ gonna get fed whether we ignore them or get angry at them, because they pump each other up and pat themselves on the back for a job (raid) well done either way. This is probably their twisted idea of social belonging and being a part of something bigger (like being a part of this “ominous, all powerful” entity that can’t be stopped), not just an urge to get a reaction (like trolls back in the day).
Furthermore, reporting people who post rape manuals online and encourage other men to take up the “cause” is not an overreaction. They know they can do real harm; they’re betting on it.
@blanktie
Exactly. I LOATH the “just ignore them” response when it comes to bullies because it never works ever ever ever. Bullies tend to come in groups, usually with one leader and a surrounding pack of minions but sometimes a whole gang of equally abhorrent assholes (which tends to be the internet way). Like you said, when they encourage each other there is jack shit the victim can do except get authorities involved. “Just ignore them” has always been an excuse for those who COULD do something to help to instead sit on their asses. What it really means is “I can’t be bothered to do anything about your struggle, just deal with it.”
Or, when it comes to concern trolls, what it can also mean is “I associate with such assholes and we’d rather you didn’t pay attention to us in a way that might threaten us, please just stop talking and let us hurt others without repercussion.”
@Sunny
Yeah, now that you mention concern trolls, the fact that he used “/btards” instead of “4Channers” really does make him sound less innocent than he claims.
@sunnysombrera: Agreed. From what I understand, ignoring the bullies (online and not) is seen as weakness when coming from the target of said bullying and acceptance when coming from bystanders. Either way the bullying is only encouraged. I really hope that advice bites the dust soon; it just doesn’t work.
re: The idea of ignoring death threats, calls to action, etc., because they are just teenage boys trolling and aren’t really serious and they just want to get a rise out of you—
Okay, firstly, this is a gigantic, reeking problem all on its own. This is absolutely unacceptable behavior that cannot be shrugged off as boys being boys, or 4chan being 4chan. I wish to anything that some authorities, somewhere, will begin treating this like it’s a real problem (though the recent US Supreme Court decision is not exactly heartening). It can cause real damage to the target of their abuse, whether it’s sheer emotional distress, losing a job, or having to shut down their online presence and move house just to escape the constant furor.
Secondly, “Just a joke” is never “just a joke”. In the US Department of Justice investigation into Ferguson, Missouri, they found that the police work emails were filled with racist “jokes”. It’s not an accident that the DOJ also found rampant evidence of real, IRL racial discrimination by the police force against black citizens of Ferguson.
A person won’t find racist humor funny unless they are on some level racist. A person won’t find sexist humor funny unless they are on some level sexist. A person won’t find issuing fake death threats and calls for retributive rape funny unless they, at some level, find such things amusing. And the more they steep in that garbage, the more it’s going to come out in their behavior. It’s one thing to have a giggle about shock value; it’s quite another to find pleasure in making someone literally fear for their lives. Given time, it *will* affect the way those people treat the targets of their abuse. They may never actually kill anybody, but you can bet any money you like that they will hate, mistreat and marginalize a bunch of people, in meatspace, on purpose.
Thirdly—besides the fact that it makes its victims’ lives a living hell—is that it’s all fun and games and trolling and poo-slinging until suddenly it isn’t. All of the warning signs were there for Eliot Rodger, and nobody took him seriously until it was too late. Even if the rates of trolls to genuine murderers is a million to one, that million gives perfect camouflage for the one. And the volume of fake threats out there makes it highly likely that there are real killers out there, right now, stating their intentions as plain as day for anyone to see. But real murder threats get lost in the noise because it sounds just like all the guffawing 4channers.
All of those reasons mean we can’t just ignore the trolls, because no matter how insincere and ridiculous the trolls think they are being, they are causing real, tangible damage to people. That’s not okay. And I really do think that if enough web hosts, social media networks, ISPs, legal officials, parents, peer groups, etc. etc. etc. actually pay attention and do something, that behavior can be curtailed.
@blanktie
I hope that advice dies out too, but unfortunately much like rape myths it may continue to be perpetuated by those who side with bullies/rapists, or ARE bullies/rapists. I’m pretty much convinced that “just ignore them” is a silencing tactic more than anything else. Not to mention that playground assholes have now cottoned on to it, and now know that if the victim is saying nothing it means that their bullying is effective.
Nowadays if and when I encounter a harassing troll online, my response is to go “awww look at the widdle troll! He thinks that acting like an asshole means he’s a big man! That’s adorable! :D” It’s surprisingly effective.
(assuming that the troll is male. Most of the time I use gender neutral language because unless it’s obvious, you can’t really tell the gender of people who hide behind vague avatars and screen names.)
I hate the ‘just ignore them’ schtick. I’ve often followed that advice, and usually because I felt too intimidated to do anything else. It does not work, you just get seen as an easy target.
If I could have my time over again, I would be a lot more confrontational. In my last job I got accused of some trumped up nonsense as my line manager was doing everything she could to undermine me. For about the first and only time I stood up for myself and demanded a meeting with the business owner, and strangely all the accusations melted away. I still quit though.
Touch wood I haven’t been targeted by online trolls so far. When I do get a bit of trolling on my blog I just respond reasonably, so far that’s made them lose interest and go away.
This first-class turd Dean Saxton isn’t a smirking 14 year old kid, but a grown man unafraid to put his name to a violent and gross manifesto. The sheer brazenness of it.
@Bryce
He’s also not afraid to put his face AND city of residence to it – his Twitter has plenty of photos of himself. He really is convinced that rapists don’t get caught or punished.
Which is why I hope the authorities DO come down hard on his ass, because even if that site can’t quite quality as incitement to violence HE OPENLY ADMITS TO BEING A RAPIST. SEVERAL TIMES.
There’s even a really fucking horrible post where he fantasises about…you know what I’m not even going to paraphrase it, but there are enough typos in it to know for sure that he was jerking off while writing it.
*vomits*
Is it really legal to provide resources for crimes and explicitly encourage ppl to commit them? How are subreddit and website still online?
I got the “just ignore it” advice too (and even worse, the “it means he likes you, that’s how boys get girls’ attention”….way to conflate abuse and romantic interest, there). Staying quiet just encourages bullies, and sends the message to the victim that their boundaries don’t matter, they should just be mature and strong enough to rise above the bullying and not let it get to them. That’s asking a hell of a lot for a kid.
The people posting this stuff are twisted, hateful scum. They’re beyond disgusting. I’m sorry, but yoga pants, selfies, and Tindr kill far fewer people than angry virgins.
Saxton is listed as an instructor at Pima Community College. I wonder if they’re aware of his extracurricular activities? Do they know that he’s been boasting about inflicting disgusting, graphic harm to women and minorities, and posting instructions for doing so, and actively encouraging others to follow suit?
They may know and not care (depressing thought) but if I were the parent of a female or minority student at this college, I wouldn’t want this guy anywhere near my child. Why would a college willingly employ a toxic rapey asshole who’s a walking lawsuit and a ticking time bomb, and put him in a position of authority over students?
@Buttercup
How did you find that out? Is there any way we can link/screenshot his site and email it to the college?
Because seriously we need to do as much as we can about him as possible. Show the MRAs what activism REALLY looks like for fucks sake.
Googling Saxton’s name turns up a two-year-old petition to see him expelled from the University Of Arizona, articles about his arrests and photos of him holding pro-rape petition signs… If the Dean Saxton at Pima is the same Dean Saxton, they can’t possibly not know. =/
@SFHC
Good point. Also, his Twitter says that he lives in Tucson (is Pima an area of Tucson?).
Can we just report this scumbag? There’s got to be some action we can take.
Why the fuck are people going to sit on their asses until he acts on it?
If there is a hell, this fucknut is going straight there. And if someone tries to rape me, I’ll slit their god damn throat. I’m not afraid of that shit, fucking bring it.
Ugh, I know it’s now pretty late to be coming back to read the comments, but thanks Pandapool for reminding me why after years of reading this website why I never comment around here. Isn’t this where the we are supposed to mock the things that the manosphere says? Rape, not funny, didn’t want to touch that or deal with it. The logical lapse in point two made me giggle, so I talked about that. But gee thanks for reminding me that rape is bad and keeping me on point! Apparently I’m so obtuse I needed that pointed out to me. I’m so incredibly annoyed, I really hate the comment section here. I’m more mad at myself that I wasted my time twice now in the last day or so. Lesson learned. Keep out of the clubhouse.
