A MGTOWs lament: “The fact that slut walks exist make me wish I didn’t live on this planet anymore.”

Kathrine Switzer, one of the first women to run the Boston Marathon, attacked by a race official trying to pull off her numbers
First, women had to take back the day: Kathrine Switzer, one of the first women to run the Boston Marathon, in 1967, was attacked by a race official trying to pull off her numbers

So over on the MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way) subreddit, the regulars are discussing the various ways they’re oppressed by a Nike-sponsored women-only nighttime 10k run called “We Own the Night.” Basically, it’s Take Back the Night with running, and Nike.

Well, a guy who calls himself “DegradedSerf” is having none of it. Because lesbianism? And a lack of women in the stage-construction business?

The two things I wanted to point out are the obvious lesbian connotations, there are DJs and dancing and what not until late, women only on a massive scale, and the fact that although the theme is claiming public spaces at night for females, I worked on assembling and deassembling all the stages, lighting, etc. etc. and there were no women working on the whole site.

You know, I hate to tell you this, fella, but there are places where there is lesbian dancing and “what not until late” every single night of the week. Also karaoke, sometimes. Google “lesbian bars.”

So anyway, “We Own the Night” is a sign of the End Times for normal manly men.

If you combine it with the slutwalk phenomenon now women have more rights and privileges than ever before and now a feature of the political and cultural landscape is these mass, semi-sexual, female only (eunuchs sometimes tolerated) demonstrations that public space, (physical and psychological) belongs to women and they intend to make it inimical to males and no expression of masculinity will be tolerated.

DegradedSerf’s lament about the slut walks inspired this little exchange:

Nicholas_ 5 points 1 day ago Knowing the fact that slut walks exist make me wish I didn't live on this planet anymore. permalinkembedsavereportgive goldreply [–]RecQuery 1 point 5 hours ago I sometimes wish we could go live in a colony somewhere just to show the world what things would be like without us. Even if you don't engage you're still supporting society by being there.

Huh. I’ll admit, there are a number of things that sometimes cause me to think I don’t want to live on this planet any more. You know, like genocide, rape as a weapon of war, the millions of people on earth who are living in extreme poverty, that sort of thing.

This guy is driven to existential despair by … women protesting rape.

Oh sure, I’m not denying that historically we have and still do treat humans as disposable. And that there are certain ways that men are treated as disposable which are different but no less reprehensible than the ways women are treated as disposable – and in general men have been treated as disposable on a more industrial and organised way (e.g. military, some workforce examples, etc) and women’s examples are around domestic violence, childbirth, sexual exploitation and less visible workforce examples. But yeah, feminism hasn’t encouraged disposable men. (with a few rare, extremist, ridiculous examples…before anyone brings up the femitheist thing or jingoistic white feather campaigns which I don’t think were feminist anyway)

I’m pretty sure the single most revealing comment in all of Tim’s WTF-ery was when he said “I feel like God…”

No, Tim:

re: Insidious Sock: I think part of people’s discomfort might be with what most people think of as gender neutral clothing = pretty much “male clothing”, or maybe it has something to do with moat female superhero’s costumes being…let’s call them “slight”.

If “dressing up as Wonder Woman” as “putting on black pants and a WW shirt”, it might not be as jarring to IS.

But, as I write this, I realize that I’m stirring up questions regarding gender & identify defaults in popular culture that I don’t have the time (nor, probably, the verbal/conceptual arsenal) to explore.

That is, right now.

I didn’t mean to sound dismissive of the topics and’m more than open to further discussion, but I hear kiddos stirring.

“Men are disposable.”

It wasn’t feminists who instituted and defended the draft, or the military’s ban on women serving in combat roles. Dodge the draft, or protest against unnecessary conflict, and it’s more likely a man than a woman who’ll insult your courage and sexuality.

I was having a bad day, but the veritable parliament of owls in this thread made it better! ^_^

Hoot!

Also, I love these copy-pasta trolls so very much. Well, when I say love, I mean that I love the take-downs administered to them by the lovely people of WHTM.

Tim,
You aren’t going your own way. You’re just having a hate wank and ranting like a serial killer. You aren’t winning anything. You’re a loser, plain and simple. Dipshits like you aren’t new. There is nothing revolutionary about a pathetic misogynist screaming that the sky is falling. There have always been social outcasts who couldn’t handle reality so they invented revenge fantasies and lived in them. There have always been nasty pieces of work like you who can’t create for shit, so even their dreams are about destruction. But you can’t destroy anything but your own credibility. Women are so much more resilient than you could ever hope to be in your wildest dreams. Ya got nuthin. You are nuthin. You’re not even competent at trolling. You couldn;t take over this comment section. The world is more than a little out of your grasp.

Tim,
Have you ever seen a tiny male dog try desperately to fuck a much larger dog? He has no hope of ever reaching his goal but he keeps furiously humping at the air anyway, hope never leaving his eyes. You’re that little dog. You aren’t a visionary. You’re just deluded. You’re like a confused pooch in a couple ways. You aren’t speaking truth to power. You’re just barking at passing cars and congratulating yourself for “chasing” them away.

You’re tears? I bathe in them.

Though from his numerous flailing tantrums it is possible that Tim is constructed entirely of male tears.
Research into this possibility has already begun.

I came in here to tell people that Steam’s got a sale on all their Fallout stuff. And also that I bought the entire series now because it was $25 for all 5 (non expansion) games and I have (gasp) never played any of them before.

I noticed that too! I had Fallout 3 and New Vegas on my watch list, so I got the email. I bought both ultimate editions for less than $25!

I am ashamed to say that despite being obsessed with TES I have never played Fallout. Some gamer I am! I can’t play them (or any video games!) until JULY though. I have my Network +, Server + and Linux + exams this month and I’m cramming like I’m back in college. *cries*

Oh, Timmo… That you imagine we, or anyone, are / is surprised by the egocentric temper tantrum of a manchild is indeed both laughable and expected.

What a grand display of self-delusion.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the mockery (especially those owls!!) but oh man this one is too good:

Dear, dear feminists – Thank you for walking away from your traditional roles. In doing so, you enabled me (and all men) to walk away from mine (theirs). That you’re surprised is laughable (and expected). Just another example of your hypocracy. Again – thanks

That’s the most laughable ‘checkmate feminists’ I’ve ever seen. Congratulations, you’ve done the argumentative equivalent of BRING OUT THE COMFY CHAIR!!!

It’s also (sadly) amusing that Manospherians constantly believe that feminists somehow do not want men to break out of their traditional gender roles… even though the OPPOSITE is true. Where the fuck do they get this idea from? A desperation to find some sort of hypocrisy?

Dear Tim, the only thing you’ve managed to prove with your little extravaganza is how awesome feminism is.

@Moocow

Honestly, do you expect these guys to know anything about feminism? They’ve been fed shit of what assholes think feminism is and combining that with the whole projection thing, they assume some pretty asinine things about feminism.

@The Other EJ

Male disposability is a real thing: the cultural trope of “throwing young men’s lives at the problem until the problem is solved” definitely exists, as does the trope of representing anonymity, obedience and violence as being part of the military power fantasy.

“Male disposability” is not a thing, insofar as it assumes that only men are “disposable.”

The reality is that lower-class men are disposable. Upper-class men have never had to do hard labor, or risk themselves on the front lines in war, whether on the offensive or defensive side. All of the tropes that come baked into “male disposability” only apply to poor men.

And they also apply to poor women, and poor children. “Male disposability” is not a thing, because lower-class women and children are equally disposable. Poor women equally work in physically difficult, dangerous, poorly-remunerated jobs, and are the first casualties of any war. Poor children not being expected to engage in hard work is a recent innovation, and only applies in the global North. Poor children still do hard, physically demanding, dangerous labor in many parts of the world.

The only reason highly-privileged men think that “male disposability” is a thing is because they assume that all men live the lives of poor men, but all women live the lives of upper-class women. They forget about upper-class men, and erase lower-class women. That’s the only way the memes attached to “male disposability” work.

And the main thing is that the logic has never been “they are disposable because they’re men.” The logic has always been “they are disposable because they’re poor/lower-class/from a devalued social group,” coupled with “but women aren’t good at fighting, so just send the men.”
