I love this blog and will continue reading it from Uruguay. We’ll be dancing in Punta del Este soon on Friday nights! Party on, peeps. 😉

I used to dance, ballet, jazz and tap and did gymnastics. That was fun espessically performing in front of people. I’m not much of a dancer anymore I dance pretty awkwardly.

I twerk in front of my mom and grandma thats always funny. Especially my grandma being a stricted bible thumper I guess that’s what you would call her.

I love dancing and Elvis Presley’s dancing

“Twerk” is where us Yorkshirefolk go at 9am every weekday.

I had to look that up to get what you mean. You learn something new everyday.

I used to bellydance when I wasn’t in grad school. It made my back feel so good–all limber and fluid. I need to get back to it again, like a lot of pre-grad school things. *wistful sigh*

My only experience in dancing is when I got an award (read: lollipop) for doing the best Electric Slide at a high school dance. So I have that going for me. Which is nice.

I did ballet when I was four.

In other news, I had a gastric bypass recently, and I’ve lost a lot of weight as a result. What I didn’t realise is I would become more visible to men and I’m having a hard time dealing with the increased attention. Sounds stupid I know, but it feels a little odd and uncomfortable at times. I’ve been mostly invisible to men due to my size for over ten years (yes, people can be very shallow).
Haven’t been wolf whistled yet, thankfully!

Any tips on mentally dealing with this change? I had surgery primarily for my health (and I thought it would be nice shopping for clothes wherever I damn well pleased) and wasn’t prepared for the social impact.

We had elderly and middle age women belly dance at my dance school. That was fun.

scalyllama, congrats on your weight loss. My version of crowd control isn’t the best, more like putting on a glare and praying people automatically back away. I am not blessed with resting bitch face, although I wish I were. Being jolly IRL is no fun when you have absolutely no desire to interact in public.

A good friend of mine’s sibling, E Chris Garrison, has written a handful of books and their latest is available for preorder. I just preordered it because I loved the two I’ve already read, Reality Check and Blue Spirit, and I thought it was worth a signal boost. The new one is called Girl in the Gears (Trans-Continental Book 1). Preorder here if you’re interested – http://www.amazon.com/Girl-Gears-Trans-Continental-Book-1-ebook/dp/B00Y3BBV6O/ . This seems to be a good place to introduce myself. Hi! I’m a short time lurker and there have been a few times I wanted to add a thought, but it’s sometimes awkward when no one knows who you are. So, here I am and hi again. It’s been a pleasure meeting you all.

Also, sorry, I forgot…I used to make my daughters dance with me when I got bored on weekend evenings. In their mid to late twenties, they may have forgiven me 🙂 God, that was fun!! Did I mention I cannot dance at all?

Scalyllama, congratulations! All I can tell you is to respond to the attention however you want! Chat with them if you’re bored and standing in line and want to, and if they make you uncomfortable, say “sorry” and pull out your phone and turn away. Don’t worry about anyone else’s feelings if you don’t want the attention. If you’re reading something, then “Sorry, I need to read this, I’m behind.” works pretty well for me.

In other news, I just painted my toenails red, white, and blue. I’m actually twelve years old, not fifty-two.

I still have a bunch of stuff to do before the move tomorrow. Sigh.

Poor Darrow is anxious. He keeps trying to bury things. He put a toy on top of his food. He’s been jumping on the end table while I’m drinking coffee and pawing the table around the mug. Maybe he understood me when I tell him he’s going to live with my brother for a few months. I feel so guilty and sad. I’m going to miss the beastmonster.

Also, it’s my birthday!

How many friend-zoned men does it take to change a lightbulb?

None. They’ll compliment it, take it to dinner, and get pissed off when it still won’t screw.
