AVFM: “Good women have abortions. So do a lot of … heartless slugs who won’t use birth control or keep their legs closed.”

Lovely.
Lovely.

This, er, thoughtful meme is from A Voice for Men’s Facebook page, where it’s received 207 “likes” so far.

AVFM, don’t ever change. Just continue revealing to the world what a bunch of hateful, spiteful, misogynistic children you are.

Silly MRAs, slugs don’t have legs! Wasn’t there an MRA in an post a while ago who thought slugs were amphibians? MRAs should watch more wildlife documentaries. Also, they could have picked a creature that’s not hermaphroditic. Like, maybe a species that actually has females, or something. Though slugs do sometimes bite off their partner’s penis after mating, so maybe they wanted to make some ridiculous point about misandry and forgot? (You bit off my penis and then aborted my child! Misandry!)

From now on I’m just going to imagine that, in the mind of an MRA, dating looks like this.

6.5 years ago I had a one night stand with someone I’d been friends with for 10 years. The condom broke so I took the emergency contraception tablet. It didn’t work.

The dad freaked out and insisted I have an abortion. Clearly to AVFM, in this situation a “good woman” would have had an abortion.

However, I chose not to (omg, bad BAD woman!) so he decided that the baby wasn’t his. I had to go through the child support agency to force him to do a paternity test (misandry!) and when that proved he is the dad he decided that he wouldn’t see the baby anyway because he had been drunk at the time of conception and therefore I raped him. Never mind that I was also drunk at the time of conception, in fact so drunk that he had to go on top.

My son will be 6 in July and despite me offering several times, his dad has never met him. He is outraged that he has to pay child support.

To AVFM this makes me a terrible woman. Good women aren’t slutty sluttersons who have sex with friends when drunk. Good women only have abortions when men tell them to. Good women magic up enough money to raise a child without needing a man to contribute anything to their own child. Also, single mothers are terrible and incapable and I’m probably raising him all wrong.

Except that my son is fucking remarkable and awesome and sweet. He loves me and I adore him so much it makes my heart ache sometimes. So fuck being an AVFM approved “good woman” because I’d rather have my fantastic son than have the approval of assholes.

@fruitloopsie: OK, that MRA poster made me *angry*. Do these fellows seriously think that no woman has ever fallen in love with a poor or unemployed man (or, for that matter, a man who works a suckily-paying job, or who is otherwise disadvantaged in some way)? Do they think that romantic love is solely about physical attractiveness and getting someone to pay for your expenses? That’s not just misogyny, that’s misanthropy.

Good on you for raising a fantastic son despite your asshole friend. He could at least have been decent about the situation but nope.

Also, AVFM just shared this photo, still on the topic of birth control.
https://www.facebook.com/407609579339834/photos/a.407627459338046.1073741826.407609579339834/642145335886256/?type=1&theater

Apparently the onus of not getting pregnant falls on…women! Surprise! Which means zero financial help regarding birth control and women should totally pay for it all outside of their healthcare plans because EQUALITY!

I s2g, by theory alone MRA assholes are TRYING to get women pregnant, and keep it, yet see nothing wrong with “paper abortions” and whinging about being fathers when they didn’t want to be. Women and children exist on air and positive thoughts, apparently.

Seriously. According to them and PUAs: a woman saying no to sex is misandry (especially if they’re married), and so is demanding that the dude wear a condom, but having unprotected sex is her fault because she should have just said no. Or, if she doesn’t want to get pregnant she should just do anal. x_x
It’s misandry to expect insurance companies to cover female birth control because it means men’s premiums will go up by a tiny fraction. If she can’t afford it she should still not be denying sex to men but then if, mysteriously, she does find herself with a bun in the oven ABORTION IS FOR EVIL SLUTS! Keep the baby! But also abort the baby if the dad doesn’t want it! Just do whatever he says, ladies. If you do keep it and he doesn’t want it you’re a selfish harpy trying to squeeze him for money (but abortion is wrong mmkay) and he shouldn’t have to pay if he doesn’t want to, or visit, or accept that he is the father. Even if he is, or was, your LTP. Raise the child on your own, you slaaaaag! EQUALITY!
Until about fifteen years down the line, when he realises he’s getting old and he wants to reconnnect with ‘his’ child again (suddenly it’s ‘his’ when it’s convenient for him). Then you’re a vicious nasty ex if you don’t let him near the only faaaamily he has. How cruel! Also if the child in question doesn’t want to see the man who abandoned them it can only ever be because you poisoned them against him! MISANDRY! MISANDRY EVERYWHERE!

Please God let the sexbot revolution happen soon, so they never have to touch a woman ever again.

Jenny (@dontgiveah00t)

@sunnysombrera, that has to be one of the most magnificent summaries of their self-contradictory nonsense that I have ever read. *bows before thee*

I just want reluctant parents out of the picture 100%. It’s not good for anyone involved for less than eager parents to be providing for and participating in the lives of their kids nor should it be necessary. I want the concept of child support gone. If you’re an active parent, you contribute to satisfying that child’s needs. That’s not child support. That’s parenting. If you don’t want to contribute half of what your child needs, you don’t want to be their parent. Give up your parental rights and responsibilities and allow the active parent to contribute their half. The rest should be covered by the public. It’s our responsibility to bring up healthy, happy productive members of society whether we made them or not.

Unfortunately, it’s near impossible to convince the general public they’re responsible for providing for children they didn’t produce whose parents aren’t dead so chasing after people who either want nothing to do with their children or want parental rights but not responsibilities persists. It’s not good for the kids and it’s not good for the parents.

I don’t think there’s anything radical about ending the concept of child support.

The sad thing is, it’s not just MRAs who think like this. There’s a whole lot of people who argue that birth control and abortion are not necessary aspects of health care and as a society we shouldn’t make sure they’re accessible and affordable/free.

These same people are inevitably the same ones who are opposed to welfare because people shouldn’t have babies they can’t afford. Apparently poor people are expected to shut off their libido entirely because that’s the only way people without access to birth control and education about how to use it correctly are going to avoid pregnancy completely. Because it’s so realistic to expect people to not have sex.

Of course, if everyone who wasn’t so financially secure they’re guaranteed to never need social safety nets refrained from having babies, we’d have a big population crisis due to a serious shortage of young people. It would be like Children of Men. Then we’d hear about women need to be doing their patriotic duty and having babies.

@marinerachel
I’m kind of on the fence about that. I’m slightly in agreement with MRAs that a man shouldn’t have to pay money for a kid he doesn’t want. But a part of me is concerned that if we make it so that the public picks up the slack, combined with the worsening policies of buy-your-own-bc-and-don’t-even-think-about-an-abortion-goddammit, there’s little to stop MRA/PUA arseholes from manipulating, impregnating and ditching women left right and centre. At least the fear of being squeezed for child support actually makes them act semi-responsibly (or keeps them away from women altogether, even better) even if they whinge to the heavens about having to do so.

If we lived in a perfect world in which the minimum wage is a living wage and there’s a guaranteed minimum income. If childcare were completely subsidized and higher education were free. If social safety nets were robust and didn’t require jumping through a million hoops to get and keep and weren’t under constant assault. Then I could maybe get on board with the whole “paper abortion” concept. But in my country at least, we’re so far from that it isn’t even worth discussing.

Reblogged this on The Monster's Ink and commented:
As part of my “they still want us to…” line of posts: they still want us to open our legs. They still want us to terminate pregnancies…on their terms. They want us to use birth control, as long as it doesn’t inconvenience them. They want us to give birth when they want to keep us dependent and beholden, but then they act like state-mandated paternity-based child support is the most oppressive thing that civilization ever invented.

Most of all, they really really want us to open our legs. Then they want to condemn us for having opened our legs for too many men before them.

@fruitloopsie

What the…. that doesn’t even make sense. Those two things aren’t related at ALL.

It does if all one things that a man is is what he can earn; all that one things a woman is is what she looks like; and that being fat is the lack of beauty. Of course, a man is not all only what he can earn and a woman is not only what she looks likebecause the world is simply not the one dimensional place that MRAs think it is.

I suppose I should clarify my above comment because it could be read as saying I think women are deceptive. That’s not what I mean.

I should have said:

A man does not derive his humanity from what he earns at a woman does not derive her humanity from her physical appearance.

epitome of incomprehensibility

Slugs have abortions???

epitome of incomprehensibility

@fruitloopsie, chrisnorlander & Mij – I agree. That “meme” is pretty insulting to everyone. And it’s not like MRAs actually WANT women to find unemployed men “hot,” is it? Unless they themselves don’t have a job, I guess. Once they get a job they’ll expect stereotypically hot women to be drawn to their money-having alpha-ness… except then the women will all be evil gold-diggers… Sounds like a miserable philosophy to me, but then I’m a woman and not expected to understand these things.

sunnysombrera – I am actually in agreement with the MRA’s on the subject of not having to support a child you didn’t want – IF they had taken reasonable steps themselves to prevent a pregnancy (ie condom use) which has failed, or they were led to believe that a pregnancy was not going to happen. If they did not think that they needed to think about that (as it is with most MRA’s) then they really have no cause for complaint.

It is common for such a parent to resent that child, but to resent the other parent more. This may result in various tactics used to make their life more difficult. I think that for this reason it is often better to cut all contact. If there is a welfare state it takes the pressure off the custodial parent. I am one of these, but my sons were conceived with donated sperm, so I am lucky in that I have never had an angry ex being expected to contribute to the upbringing of his child.

I do know of unusual situations where a father should never have been chased up for child support – lesbian couples who split up and the donor was chased up. This I find outrageous – this man did them a huge favour and they should honour the agreement.

On the subject of birth control: Let’s examine Matt’s argument, shall we?

Oh no, how horrible that you need to pay for something that costs time, effort, and money to create, package, ship, and sell. Poor you, having to look after yourself and your own needs instead of having shit handed to you on a silver platter presented by Uncle Sam.
– Matt

Oh? So, Matt thinks we should pay for something that “cost, time, effort, and money to create, package, ship and sell.”

Alright then. I hope Matt likes paying for every medication ever out of pocket instead of letting his insurance cover it! Because if he doesn’t pay for it out of his pocket, then he’s not looking after himself and his own needs, and just having shit handed to him on a silver platter presented by Uncle Sam, and that makes him a moocher off of my tax dollars!

Shame on you, Matt!

This is all their cognitive dissonance in a nutshell. I honestly wonder how they function in the world with all this blatant self-contradiction swirling about them. I suspect they don’t, and they’re bitter about that, so the “rational male” thing to do is just PROJECT IT ALL ONTO THE EVIL WIMMINZ!

And speaking of projection and evil wimminz, that “Humanity vs. Feminism” thing is IT. Men are “humanity”, women are “feminism”. Could you possibly “other” us any harder, you miserable misanthropic fucks?
