There’s some great news for supporters of The Sarkeesian Effect, the seemingly random collection of badly filmed interviews with assorted people who dislike Anita Sarkeesian that is allegedly being edited into a film of some kind!
In a new video, Jordan Owen — the hairier of the two Sarkeesian Effect impresarios — has announced an amazing new opt-out opportunity for the alleged film’s backers to donate money to him and his pal (then enemy, then pal again) Davis Aurini.
Owen reports that, even though they’re supposedly already done filming their alleged film, the two have somehow managed to work out a way to do some more filming “that we didn’t think that we’d be able to do but it’s really going to tie the movie together,” much like the non-big Lebowski’s famously peed-on rug, I guess.
Now, Owen won’t provide any details — which, he suggests, might have something vaguely to do with the Honey Badgers’ recent escapade in Calgary? — but apparently it is a quite exciting filming opportunity and it somehow requires another month’s worth of funding for the alleged film, and unless the project’s backers specifically opt out by the end of the month they’re going to get charged for it!
It’s all very ethical.
In the video, Owen also invites supporters to check out the amazingly professional web site they have up for their amazing film at TheSarkeesianEffect.com. I would also highly recommend that you check it out; it is in every way up to the exacting standards the two are known for.
And before I forget, I’d like to mention some great news for fans of the unintentional comedy that the Sarkeesian Effect duo provide almost every time they open their mouths.
A couple of Sarkeesian Effect mockers — Andrew Todd from badassdigest.com and @kav_p from Twitter — have come into the possession of puppets that, as Kav P puts it, look “startlingly similar” to the Sarkeesian Effect duo. They plan to produce a series of short videos starring said puppets.
Here’s the theme song for the series, which they call MRAsterpiece Theater. You may notice that despite costing nothing to anyone but the two people who made it, this video somehow manages to look and sound a lot more professional than anything the actual Sarkeesian Effect dudes have produced so far.
@Banana Jackie Cake, I couldn’t get past the net-climbing part of the Meat Circus, I kept not going fast enough or missing jumps. Everything else, perfectly fine, although after I got Raz out of the black-velvet-painting level everything looked green to me for fifteen minutes.
@Falconer
Lol, she also had problems with that part. 😛
I think it was because the PS2 version had some camera issues? Or was that the Xbox version? I forgot exactly. I know that the level was better managed on the PC version than one or both console versions.
Also, terribly underrated game. Brutal Legends too. (That game was all the awesome.) Why do people not recognize Tim Schafer’s GENIUS? *tables flips*
I have it on the XBox, I had to update my 360 so it would play original Xbox games.
GOG is selling it for the PC for like $9, and I can get it on the PlayStation Network, too.
… I think I may have one too many gaming platforms.
Yes, the weakest part of the trilogy, when we were given the least reason to give a shit about what was going on.
Similarly, Devil May Cry 4 turn a sudden turn for the stupid when Kyrie got kidnapped and the plot changed from “what the fuck is going on here” to “NOOOO MY GIRLFRIEND.”
@Falconer
Well, last generation I thought I’d try Xbox instead of PlayStation.
Big mistake. All the games I wanted to play were on PlayStations: The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls, InFamous, Jak and Daxter HD–Xbox doesn’t have shit.
So you have too many gaming platforms in the way of Xboxes, bit everything else is okay. (Original Xbox is fine.)
@Policy of Madness:
Trilogy? Are you counting Throne of Bhaal as #3?
And Imoen as girlfriend … no. Half-sister’s no better in terms of damseling.
@Banana Jackie Cake: We got the 360 before the PS3 because of Tales of Vesperia. We ate up Tales of Symphonia* and Tales of the Abyss, but Vesperia just kind of left us flat.
And BABIES!! has left us with no time to play Tales of Graces f or Tales of Xillia.
*I just found the official website and its big portrait of Lloyd has got me all nostalgic.
@Falconer
Yah, ToB is a third game as far as I’m concerned. Way shorter than the others, but it’s not just an expansion, like Tales of the Sword Coast. It has an independent plot that is almost completely separated from the plots of BG1 and Shadows of Amn. I know it is considered “an expansion” but I’m not the only one who treats it like an independent game.
You know, I’ve never gotten very far past the tearful reunion with Imoen, let alone tried Throne of Bhaal. I should get back to that.
The tearful reunion with Imoen is always, for me, followed by my telling Imoen to beat feet. LOL She is outstanding in BG1 but almost useless in SoA, and I usually solo these days anyway.

I wish I’d thought to crowdfund some Gamergate thing. I bet I could do better than these chuckleheads for less money, pocketing even more.
@Falconer
I’m not really big on JRPGs, actually. The only one I’ve played and liked was Legend of Dragoon. So all of those Xbox-exclusives don’t entice me at all. 😛
LEGEND OF DRAGOON WAS AMAZING AS FUCK.
*ahem*
I also am a fan of JRPGs. Xenogears is one of my favorites, and it’s one of the two intellectual properties I enjoy with giant robots in it. (The other is the anime Big O. It’s like Batman, but with giant robots and the main character has more personality than “MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!!!”. And his car is so much cooler than the Batmobile. Like srsly.)
@Paradoxical Intention
I lost my copy of Legend of Dragoon. 🙁 Pity me.
I lost my copy of Xenogears. 🙁
I pity you, and will share in your sads.
I will also share your sads of the missing Xenogears. Why must good games disappear so? 🙁
(You know, thinking about it, I also lost my copy of Kingdom Hearts, which I guess also counts as a JRPG, actually. I lost it just before I got to beat Ansem. DAMN IT.)

Animate Thread
@Paradoxical Intention:
I gotta represent for Animated Series Batman. He had more personality than that, too. Also, he did detective work, something sorely missing from many Batman movies.
Batman the animated series was one of the best kids’ shows that took the genre as a story telling challenge instead of an excuse to talk down to kids. The stories hold up really well and the depth of emotions is usually very solid. I don’t want to say that it didn’t have problems, but I would call the series the gold standard I compare intergenerational entertainment to.
Shit. Sorry, I necroed a thread. I just got all excited about Batman.
… I don’t think it counts as necroing if the last post on the thread was within 24 hours. You’re good.
🙂
Unless you wanted to be The Threadcromancer, in which case… Sure. It’s totes necroing when you’re a mere 5.74 hours late to the party.
I totes agree on the Batman: The Animated Series bit. Not only did Batman have more personality, did detective work, and was just a more likable character, all of the characters were.
I just watched the Harley and Ivy episode, and gods above my heart hurt to watch Harley in that episode. Just how she went right back to the Joker and her cycle of abuse continued. Her story is a tragedy and one that always makes me just want to give her a hug and make her a nice meal. She deserves it.
When I was talking about the angsty personality, I was more referring to the newer stuff. I can’t watch any more of these new movies. I just want another Batman and Robin movie. : /
Count me in on batman TAS, my favorite episode is probably the one where Harley and Ivy team up. Followed by the episode where Penguin tries to leave behind his life of crime but gets his heart broken.
I also don’t feel like watching the more recent movies. If I want to see angsty batman I’ll just watch “Holy Musical B@tman!”
