@ Luzbelitx – my son is 10, and my daughter is 7. He’s taller than my shoulder and I’m not allowed to kiss him in public! But, yes, they will always be my babies!!!!!! Always!!!!!
@ grumpyoldnurse
Echoing that last Always!!!!!! 🙂
My girl started reading “actual” books this summer, like short novels for kids, and it warms my heart to see how much she looks like me (and how much she enjoys it).
She sometimes won’t answer or just growls if I talk to her while she’s reading. She’s right here beside me reading one of the first books I read as a kid myself.
I feel like smiling and crying at the same time.
Thanks again to everyone for your support! It really made a difference for me today 🙂
Oops! Blockquote mammoth et me!
@grumpyoldnurse
Mother hi-five!
@CloneboyZA
Hi there! Have a Welcome Package
(Crosses fingers against the Link Mammoth)
My babies are still small enough to pick up — but yes, they will always be my babies.
My boy did something he hasn’t done in a while the other day. He captured my finger and gnawed upon it — lightly, of course! He hasn’t done that since just after he sprouted teeth (for good reason).
Well, shit.
Beloved has bronchitis, real bad. So bad her torso muscles ache.
Thanks, Obama.
Hey, can I ask for a little help? My partner is writing a policy brief about SB 967, California’s affirmative consent rules for post secondary educational institutions, and she asked me about a study that I had seen someone post in the comments on this site, relating to attitudes toward rape held by college students, wherein some depressingly large number of male college students admitted to raping someone so long as the word rape was not used to describe their actions. Do any of you remember the name of that study or possibly have a link to it?
Falconer, y’all need bubble suits at this point!
Fatman, this, maybe? http://psycnet.apa.org/journals/ccp/55/2/162/
If not, I’m pretty sure it is Koss’s research you’re after.
And this is the googlefu that got me there — https://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=college+men+admit+to+rape+author%3Akoss&btnG=&hl=en&as_sdt=1%2C22&as_vis=1
Hope that helps!

I cannot wait for summer. No clue yet where I can camp, besides out in the tortoise enclosure, but I’m one stove shy of spending a week away from society 🙂
Neeeeeeeeeeew baby!

@Argenti:
Unfortunately, none of us are as good looking as teenage John Travolta.
@marinerachel: Yay!
Baby! What pod is zie from?
Beautiful :). I used to want to be a marine biologist just so I could work with orcas.
Really, really beautiful.
Thanks a bunch Argenti, that is the one one I was thinking of.

PLATYPUS!
Conundrum:
My bra shop is jumping on the 50 Shades of Shart bandwagon. They’re selling the sex toy line through their online store.
I couldn’t give a shit if they want to sell boudoir/BDSM/fetishwear and toys, particularly if its what their customer base wants. My problem is they’re promoting and making money for a story that presents abuse in a positive light.
Anyways, I’ve been quiet this far and can’t justify piping up about it. They’re a small independently owned and operated business and they’re the only one around Vancouver that does it (large cup bra fitting and sales) as affordably as they do. Bras in my size don’t exist any cheaper in my area. I sure would like to be able to switch vendors right now though.
I do wonder if I shouldn’t say something if only because other people might have the same feelings as me though.
YES! ORCA BABIES ARE THE BESTEST!
Who’s a cute little calf? YOU ARE!
That’s southern resident baby J51, BTW. J50 and J51 are brand new to the family.
Hooray for the J pod! I had a close encounter with them once while kayaking and so I’m very fond of them.
::happy face::
You go, J Pod! Live long and prosper, J50 and J51, you adorable little things. 🙂
MarineRachel, thanks for helping with the good feels for tonight!
Something I take comfort in: both babies have mature, experienced moms and thriving siblings. J51 has been seen exclusively sandwiched between J19 (mom) and her ten-year-old sister, J41. J50’s sixteen-year-old sister, J36, is pretty close by she and mom, J16 too. That factor influences their morbidity hugely. First calves, particularly of young moms, just don’t survive in the southern resident population. The mom usually becomes pregnant again very quickly and there’s a new baby within a couple years. It’s still a bummer though.
I love music.
I used to listen constantly to music, and wear a walkman when I was out of the house.
Even now I have a soundtrack playing constantly in my head.
So, why is it I only actually play music when I’m on the point of crashing now ?
