Also, a quick update.
My cousin’s baby is doing pretty well. He is still on a ventilator, but they are giving him steroids with the hope that they will be able to take him off the vent soon. He is even doing well enough that his mom and dad get to hold him occasionally and he’s three weeks old today!
And on a hyper movie-warching spree!
Watched Pitch Black, and am now watching Alien vs Predator.
Uh…yeah, didn’t say I was watching /good/ movies.

I haven’t seen Alien vs. Predator yet. I hope it’s fun!
I enjoyed Pitch Black, got a thrill from the Claudia Black appearance, but the aliens didn’t do it for me.
I’ve been watching House on Netflix. He’s an asshole.
Aliens vs Perdator is definately fun! (Spoiler: female lead joins up with Predator and kicks Alien ass)
Moved on to the Aliens Quadrology now. Michael Biehn, so cute.
Also there is pulled pork with a bbq-apple sauce. Admittedly a ready meal, but still gorgeous.
Gilshalos, those movies sound just fine to me. If your mouth is asking for lollipops, don’t fool it with lamb chops.
Also, has anyone seen the x-ray of the guy in the Buddha statue ?
A friend on FB read up on it and she’s having nightmares. (OK, I say friend, she married the guy I was in love with, but that’s in the past)
I watched a programme sometime in the past, maybe a decade, that detailed the process. I try hard and not remember the details too.
I’ve seen that mummified guy in the Buddha statue a couple times this week, and I think I read about the self-mummification last month.
Not my cuppa.

Alien and Aliens are both great movies, for completely different reasons.
I recently watched Alien, was pretty good, but I already knew most of it so there weren’t a lot of surprises left.
Darn, I shouldn’t have checked this thread before lunch. Now I’m envious of gilshalos’ pulled pork, and I don’t have anything like that in the house.
My landlord told me that I wouldn’t have an eviction filed against me if I moved out within the next few days. I left my dad a message at home. I hope it works out. The idea of moving and packing so quickly is stressful as hell but it’s cool of them to be willing to work with me to avoid an eviction filing. Especially since it’s a big property management company. They can be pretty heartless.

So, it turns out that my grandmother is able to loan me the past due rent and the March rent. I didn’t realize she had that kind of cash but I guess my aunt left a lot to her when she died. Of course to stay in my apartment and make payments back to my grandmother I will have to most likely get a part time job in the morning too. My dad is pissed and I have to go through all sorts of humiliation now. It’s good that I don’t have to be separated from my kitties though. I would have had to pawn Darrow off on my brother.
It looks like my life is going to suck for the next few months until my lease is up and I can get a cheaper place.
This week, I’ve been trying to help this woman through a really nasty immigration and custody dispute. I don’t want to go into too much detail in public, but here’s the overview: The woman is currently married to a foreign-born naturalized citizen – she has residency but isn’t a citizen yet. Her husband has been manipulating and mistreating her, and now he’s trying to take away her son. She reached out to me because I’m the only person she knows in this country.
I’ve been doing everything I can on my end to help, but I don’t think it’s enough. My father is a lawyer but his experience with the INS is limited. If anyone here knows of someone who can help in any way, please have them contact me at dmjohnston AT outlook DOT com. This could well be a lost cause, but I feel obligated to do whatever I can.
