a voice for men antifeminism creepy empathy deficit entitled babies evil sexy ladies memes men who should not ever be with women ever misogyny MRA ugly feminists

Someone could probably write a Master’s thesis about the sexual insecurities on display in A Voice for Men’s "memes."

Classy, A Voice for Men, very classy.
Why are so many MRAs and PUAs so invested in the notion that women who reject them will end up miserable?

A Voice for Men’s ongoing campaign to convince the world that “Men’s Human Rights Activists” are a bunch of petty, malicious, sexually insecure douchenozzles continues apace.

I mean, that must be what they’re really up to, right? Because no one who actually had any real interest in human rights of any kind would produce “memes” like the one above and all the rest below, delivered to your eyes straight from AVFM’s Fcebook page.

At their best, AVFM’s memes are merely baffling …

Wat?
Wat?
What ... do the Saw movies have to do with any of this?
What … do the Saw movies have to do with any of this?

… or ridiculous.

How far must your head be shoved up your ass to even think any of this was even remotely true?
How far must your head be shoved up your ass to even think any of this is even remotely true?

AVFM also loves appropriating the images of famous people, and pretending that these people are somehow on their side. But their choices of imaginary celebrity endorsers can be a bit, well, ironic. A couple of days ago in one of my posts on the iconography of the “Cultural Marxism” conspiracy theorists, I posted a neo-Nazi meme showing a crudely photoshopped picture of Star Trek’s Kirk and Spock endorsing Adolph Hitler — a rather odd conceit, given that William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy are both Jewish, and that the original Star Trek series promoted tolerance and a very 60s-liberal sort of multiculturalism.

Well, here’s AVFM’s attempt to make Spock an MRA:

Er, not so much.
Er, not so much.

Dudes, hate to break it to you, but Nimoy is actually a … feminist. Really. In the 60s he demanded that Star Trek’s producers pay actress Nichele Nichols the same as her male counterparts on the show. And as a photographer today, Nimoy acknowleges that he is heavily influenced by feminism, partiularly the writings of Jewish feminist Letty Cottin Pogrebin, one of the founders of Ms. magazine.

So that’s not really his “listening to feminism face” at all.

An astonishing number of AVFM’s memes are so sexualized that they are more or less soft-core porn. Even their anti-male-rape memes, ostensibly attempts to raise consciousness about the rape of men by women, feature seductive, scantily clad women, undermining whatever message they are supposed to be getting across.

But the most, er, revealing memes are the ones that hint at deep sexual insecurities on the part of the meme makers and those who “like” them on Facebook. (The images that follow are mildly NSFW.)

This meme, for example, actually features the dreaded vagina dentata:

[slightly risque meme removed]

And this one attempts to shame male feminists by suggesting they enjoy being penetrated, an act that’s really only “shameful” if you have some rather fucked-up notions of what is and what isn’t appropriate male sexuality. And a certain degress of  hatred and fear of female sexual agency.

[slightly risque meme removed]

AVFM meme-maker John Galt also continues to be weirdly obsessed by me.

And then there’s this lovely meme, intended as a joke at the expense of a feminist activist who’s been on AVFM’s enemies list ever since she told some AVFM dudes to shut up at a demonstration several years ago. (I’ve crossed out her face, because no one really deserves to be made into an AVFM meme.)

[slightly risque meme removed]

The joke is obviously supposed to be at her expense, suggesting that she is so unattractive that she makes penises wilt. But you don’t have to be Sigmund Freud to realize that this isn’t the real story here. This is a woman demonized by AVFM and other antifeminists because once, several years ago, she shouted down some dudes. It’s not her appearance that frightens their penises; it’s the fact that she wouldn’t put up with their bullshit.

Guys, you’re not fooling anyone, except yourselves.

Fuck it, let’s just send everyone to jail for 50 years. There. Equality.

I’m willing to give women one last chance to stop murdering their husbands; but any more shenanigans and there may have to be some sort of consequence ok

Aw, no fair. I thought getting away with husband-murder was a feminine perk, like having doors held open for you, or your sugar daddy buying you diamonds. *decorative pout*

Someone should introduce the concept of prison abolitionism to MRAs so they stop giving everything ridiculous jail times.

Because if MRAs are actually concerned about how men are negatively affected by prison, doing away with the prison industrial complex is a thing to think about. Or at least prison reform?

No, you really just want to throw a bunch of women into jail, MRAs?

Well alright, but quit with the hypergamy and stop looking for higher status husbands to murder ok?

Let’s say Spock is a sexist douche, even an anti-feminist–a valid interpretation of the Original Series which is, you know, pretty sexist from our point of view.

They’re looking for validation from a fictional character.

Psst: Vulcans aren’t real. Also, Vulcan women make men fight to the death to prove they’re worthy husbands or they’ll withhold sex and let the men die a tortuous death from honest to dog fatal blue balls. And the MRA’s think they have problems.

Wow, Alan Robertshaw, you looked into the future and predicted I would be commenting about famous fictional attempted husband-murderer T’Pring.

If you like that story, Theo Sturgeon wrote another version of it with humans (?) which was published in the anthology FOUR FOR THE FUTURE. Although the plot is about an evil, scheming, malignant narcissist and possibly hypergamist(?) woman who tortures and then tries to have killed a hapless, abused beta male, I’m pretty sure Sturgeon wasn’t an MRA, though. He just thought geeks ought to get more respect and malignant narcissists should get a good dose of karma, if not in real life then at least in fiction. (Some of his bad guys are men, Captain Hammer types.)

Anyone looked at the Cracked article about the man who was raped by a woman while he was drunk (and also his later interactions with MRAs online), or the study that just came out showing that there are many more sexual assaults on males by females than previously reported? Rape culture hurts everyone.

Estraven: Thats assuming of course that they believe in love and partnership. I’m pretty sure they don’t. They only believe in sex and that’s for hot, young , white , cis-gender people.

You get that impression quite often. I tend to hear that year seven-year nine Eewwwww! in the background. From the kids who’ve finally worked out that ::whispers:: my parents did that!!

The idea that the dear old couples they see at the shopping centre as likely as not have sex pretty regularly is just as ewww-making. (And most of the olds at family celebrations as well. There’s something to make the head spin.)

Women would pay for the expense of their sexuality

I have no idea what they are specifically complaining about here and that’s probably for the best.

I’ve never seen feminists argue in favor of circumcision, only that it’s not quite the same as FGM. The message of bodily autonomy is still kind of opposed to both those things.(barring medical necessities etc) And anyway, wasn’t the american circumcision craze started by…a man? If a men’s movement tried to get medically unnecessary child circumcisions banned, I don’t think it’d be feminists forming the main opposition to that.

Worst part of that list? There are a precious few valid points on there, like the one about the abundant lask of homeless shelters.

Alan — iirc, something like 60% of baby boys in the US are circumcised at birth. In my experience, the number of boys circumcised 30 years ago is a higher percent (I’ve seen plenty of dicks, all but one was cut) It’s fairly common here, and just something you do, for whatever fucking reason — not a religious thing nearly as much as a cultural thing.

Whoever asked about stats on prison terms — I don’t have anything handy, but I poked these one for these clowns before, and yeah, it depends on lots of things. Part of it though? Male judges tend to go softer on female criminals than female judges do. It’s their own damn patriarchal nonsense (plus race, and how good of an attorney you can afford, etc etc)

The ability to buy good representation is a large factor, so the various -isms that play into that are a factor on top of the judge looking at the defendants skin and gender. Our public defenders are seriously overworked, gods help you if that’s what you’re stuck with.

brooked — I think it’s less gross than you’re thinking, they probably just mean paying for birth control is her problem. The pill isn’t a medical expensive insurance should have to cover in other words. Which is yuck, but compared to a lot of that list, just bog standard yuck.

I heard the american circumsicion thing started with Dr Kellog.

Could be wrong though, I’m no medical historian.

Probably should have included a TW for that link in my last post, Kellogg had some messed up ideas.

I can second that for senior citizens of both genders, finding partners seems no more difficult than it is for younger people.

Me neither, but presumably lesbians get a discount; I’ve heard a Sapphic lifestyle is cheaper to run.

Hell, I’m pretty sure I remember reading that most female MAMMALS are longer lived than the males of their species–again, controlling for variables, and all other things being equal.

As determined by MOTHERnature!!!

MISANDRY!!!

(Fun fact: Since I only type out that word to mock it, my phone autocorrects it to ALL CAPS.)

Re: Women “not getting punished” for killing their husbands:

…Might that be because a significant number of those “murders” are found (in court) to have been in self-defense…?

Re: breast cancer v prostate cancer: The little bit that I’ve been able to dig up on that points to (1) prostate cancer generally being very slow growing/not as fatal and (2) those dying from (or being significantly affected by) prostate cancer tend (statistically) to be pretty old while breast cancer – while its incidence does rise with age – also affects women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s AND the variations affecting younger women tend to be more aggressive.
This may make a real difference when it comes to public-based fundraising efforts – that’s prime “My Sister, Mom, Aunt, young Grandmother died from breast cancer,” territory; and those who survive are more likely to be young enough to have the energy to be highly active politically.

But, FWIW, the Komen foundation does seem pretty frikkin’ shady.

Most of you have probably seen this, but in case you haven’t:
It’s a fracking drillbit, pink for breast cancer awareness – the special irony being that a number of the chemicals used in fracking operations are known carcinogens…which are pumped under high pressure into the ground…and totes don’t get into the groundwater…

And, yes – “special irony” is very much related to “special hell”.

“Women would pay for the expense of their sexuality” probably means they want women to buy dinner, and sex workers to start ponying up.

I think you could shorten this to “women would pay” and it would cover just about everything on the MRA wish list.

Re: “battling misogyny with misandry”:

*looks around*

In all honesty, I see nothing resembling misandry here EXCEPT for the blatant hatred by MRAs of men who don’t adhere to MRA definitions of masculinity.

Mocking of MRA ideas and ideals?
Absolutely.

Re: conflicting definitions, requirements, and demands:
I’d always chalked that up to different aspects of the MRA-sphere being at slight cross-purposes – paternalists talking over MGTOWS talking over PUAs talking over whatever-the-hell people like Elam are (an abusive asshat and blanket misogynist, but I’m not sure that it can be narrowed down more than that – so, just a bog standard MRA, I guess); but the past couple of days with their gifts of the PUA-produced appeal to settling down and that very confused list have convinced me that that’s not the only thing in play.
They really, truly don’t know what the hell they want except, “WOMEN ARE STUPID AND STINKY KILLJOYS WHO RUIN EVERYTHING!!!”
