It’s New Year’s Eve (at least in my time zone) and I’m sure none of us want to spend it thinking about MRAs or PUAs or GamerGaters. So here’s an open thread, and an assortment of 80s dance classics, to distract you! Well, they’re classics to me, anyway.
Videos after the jump.
If you’re not up and dancing by now, maybe these guys will inspire you:
Happy New Year!
Oh, and if any trolls show their heads in this thread, email the mods and we’ll get the bouncers to remove them.
Does it cut out part of the song? … yes…
Do I feel foolish? Yup.
Will I make it up to you all? Absolutely!

How could I forget?!?!
The ultimate misandering song by the Cramps!
Ok. This is totally OT, as it’s not a dance video. But I was on my way to bed when Mr.Grump showed this to me, and I wanted to share it with you! (also, after all the Canadian MRA’s an FeMRA’s David posts about, I wanted to prove there are nice people in Canada, too, darn it!)
I know it’s not 80’s music, but I hope you will all forgive me because it’s the best ever!
Okay, so way back in March I went out for St. Pattie’s Day, just as a personal ritual, and that was pretty much the only time I ever went out to drink (was 26 at the time, am 27 now). And even that had only been going for three St. Pattie’s Days. So the first place I went to was quiet at the time, but I was pretty clearly out of my element anyway, but the bartender was just really approachable and friendly, so two weeks later I went back! Same bartender was there and we made a connection, so I continued to go every Friday, and met some of his other friends, too.
Well, sometime last September, the owner of the bar (but not the building) lost his liquor licence due to a bunch of shit, and so the owner of the building took over the bar, but they changed things for the worse. Eventually, they started firing people who’d worked there for over ten years, and on Hallowe’en night, the bartender I was friends with had finally had enough and just quit.
Same night (but at a different bar) some asshole forcibly kissed me repeatedly, so that was shitty. And for the next month and a half, I went out whenever I could to pretty much every bar near me, except for the old one. Sometimes I ran into people I knew and sometimes I didn’t, so that sucked.
BUT! The bartender now works at a new place that’s not too far from the old one, so it’s still within walking distance for me, and it’s a bar/restaurant, and they have vegetarian options, and the food is amazing (they had a giant s’mores icecream sandwich!), and all the old crowd go there now, and I’m heading back there in an hour (went earlier today and had fried green tomatoes and a giant cocktail with candied orange peels in it), and this is a happy thing!
So yeah, I wanted to share that. 🙂
Oh! Also, I’ve been there about five or six times now and haven’t run into a single creep yet, so it’s even better than the old place where the creep level was pretty low, but still present. I mean I’m sure there’ll be a creep at some point, but this is a nice start. AND! I’m wearing my favourite earrings, and they are the same earrings I was wearing when the Hallowe’en creep kissed me and I’d nearly lost them because he grabbed my face so hard that one fell out. And I hadn’t worn them since, but I’m wearing them tonight and no one will kiss me but by my consent! And I have a pretty good idea of who that will be if that happens. 😉
I am a little inebriated from my giant cocktail. I am happy. I hope you all are happy, and have a Happy New Year!!! 😀
Oh, was this supposed to be only ’80’s dance party stuff? Sorry if it was. Carry on!
Happy new year everyone!
Did someone post a Madness video ?? 🙂

Of course..it didn’t embed. Last Boat To Cairo.
Because I just love that video.
Welp, I’m still stuck in the past relative to most of you. I’m enjoying the last 4 hours and 2 minutes of 2014!
I’ll join you in the future soonish.
I’m beginning to think the Blockquote Mammoth has birthed an Embedding Mammoth.
This one’s actually a 1979 release, but I like it.

This one’s just the music, but I have a copy of it, and was able to get Jane Wiedlin to give me an autograph on my personal copy of the vinyl single.

I’m having a nice evening in, playing Gaige in Borderlands 2 (lvl 46!). Kirbywarp, I *believe* I sent you a friend request via Steam, but if I didn’t I should be easy to find.
Happy New Year!
(no falling-down drunk this year but I’m still pretty drunk)
My fav song for a certain part of the 80’s.
Hey, all, a message from Auntie Alias! She’s recovering from illness, but is under a NO STRESS regime, so won’t be posting for a while. But she wishes everyone a Happy New Year.
Happy new years! I still have a bit to go till 2015, but enjoying the celebration anyway, lol. My contribution isn’t really 80s, but I’m afraid I still love it.
You guuuuuuuuys, I have a sad. I don’t know where else to vent it and I am kinda inebriated. 🙁
I had a minor argument with Mr. Farts about whether sexism is even still a thing. And then his ex-wife pulled a surprise visit with both her kids (only the 6yo girl is his, not the 4yo boy) and…she is terrible. She makes me sad.
When the little boy was scared of the fireworks: “Oh my GOD, you’re a boy! Toughen up!”
When the little girl got hurt playing: “[Daughter] is a GIRL! You have to be gentle, girls are delicate!”
Naw, man, we don’t need feminism anymore. Sexism is dead, girls are just delicate.
Kittehs, say Happy New Years back for me, and good healing, and best wishes, and all that jazz.
Speaking of 80’s music for the dancing… Aussies, feel free to groan, but I’m a sucker for a band that incorporates a flute. And occasionally a sax.
And the song that the shift guys were trying to convince me should be my theme song when they first started letting me run the BLS med calls when I was riding along… Silly, silly awesome folks that they are.
Oh, and this one describes half of my life:
1981 and 1982 were fine years for music…
