Christmas came early for me this year. A certain Paul Elam, in an attempt to prove to his donors that his garbage website is more influential than ever, recently posted a screenshot of the traffic stats for A Voice for Men.
By doing so, he inadvertently provided proof that We Hunted the Mammoth is drawing considerably more traffic than his terrible site.
I’ll get to my stats in a second. But first, here’s Paul’s screenshot of AVFM’s traffic:
In his fundraising appeal, Elam declares that “we are gaining steam and momentum.” A post stickied to the front page of his site, meanwhile, informs visitors that “traffic to AVFM has been buzzing for quite a while now.”
Which is a bit weird, because the traffic stats he just posted don’t show that at all. They suggest, rather, that site traffic has basically stalled out at a little less than 800k pageviews a month, down a bit from its peak in June — when AVFM was getting a bit of press attention for its first conference. (The reason the last bar on the graph is so low is that it reflects less than a full month of traffic.)
Thanks for sharing, Paul! Since you were so generous with your stats, let me give you a look at the stats for We Hunted the Mammoth over a similar period.
Make sure to compare the numbers on the left hand side of each pic — and you’ll see that AVFM has yet to come in spitting distance of a million pageviews a month. We Hunted the Mammoth blasted past a million pageviews in October and almost-but-not-quite hit a million last month.
Yep, the story here is that after spending quite a while trailing AVFM, We Hunted the Mammoth really took off this year, and for the past several months has been trouncing AVFM’s traffic. Even though I’ve been taking a bit of a break over the last few weeks — I was pretty burned out — traffic for WHTM could well beat AVFM this month as well.
Then again, maybe Paul’s new cooking column — no, really, he’s already posted the first one — will spice up AVFM’s traffic a little, as it were.
What makes all this even more delicious is that AVFM has more than two dozen names on its masthead. Alongside an assortment of alleged editors and “news directors” from around the world, it boasts both a “Resident Historian” and an “Activism Director.”
It raises, by its own account, more than $100,000 a year to fund its “operations” and pay for the personal expenses of one Paul Elam.
Yet somehow my blog, with a staff of one, is drawing more traffic than the flagship site of the alleged “Men’s Human Rights” movement. I’m happy to see that those who so generously donate money and time and talent to help support We Hunted the Mammoth are getting a lot more bang for the buck than AVFM’s much-abused donors.
The standard line amongst AVFM apologists is that I’m “irrelevant.” If I’m so unimportant, Paul, why are more people reading my website than yours?
Oh, and Merry Christmas!
@Kittehserf Wish I could claim credit for that line, unfortunately I can’t. It’s from an old Something Positive strip.
Yes, lots of conspiratorial thought, which I’ve found to be true in many various diets/ways of eating (I’ve done ’em all at one point). Though to be fair, standard nutritional guidelines have had some rather dubious sources over the years… but hardly a conspiracy. A confederacy of dunces, at times, but no moustache-twirling conspiracies to be had.
(Though I will defend, with studies in hand, red meat and animal fat)
This! Even modern HG-type tribes eat very differently depending on where they live, and they do just fine whether their mainstays are starchy tubers or milk/blood or meat/fish.
Congrats on your site traffic. Glad to see this site is so popular. I’ve never posted before but I’ve been reading WHTM for a while now and it’s one of my favorite blogs. Could only give 50 bucks but will try to donate more in the new year.
There you go, princessing again! Expecting men to be excellent human beings when their basic nature is, well, BASE. Misandry! Misandry and bitchcraft!
At this rate, they’ll be having to dig frozen carcasses out of the Siberian permafrost, because that’s the only place one can still find them.
@Bina:
I kinda want to make a joke about deep freezes in basements, here, but making it short and punchy escapes me.
Anyway, the MGTOWs probably couldn’t carry 20 lbs of meat back to their wagons, let alone 200.
Aaaaaand now I want to eat mammoth ribs. It’s possible I need to start bringing an afternoon snack to work.
I sort of doubt that anyone who doesn’t already know this bit of wisdom (which is actually just an obvious application of “Do unto others …”) is going to be greatly edified by reading WHTM. If you have gotten to sexual maturity (strictly physically of course) without understanding that if you treat people badly they will try to avoid you. I am totally clueless about why MRA type dudes don’t know this.
As to the pail-‘o-crap pseudoAtkins diet, real men know that vegetables are misandry, showing that the feminist conspiracy against men goes back to the dawn of civilization.
Also, it is really unfair to compare WHTM traffic to AVfM traffic. We cheat — we have a sense of humor and cats.
True dat. They probably, at most, order a side of beef or a whole pig from a local butcher, who delivers it to their doors on a refrigerated truck. I can’t see Paulie, big and tall and butch as he claims to be, bending a finger to help those dudes, either. The butcher’s assistant would probably have to schlep that stuff down into the chest-freezer himself.
As for mammoth ribs, who’s he fooling? He probably goes down to Rockdonald’s and just orders the Bronto Burger Special, à la Fred Flintstone.
(Is that the kind of paleo-diet joke you had in mind?)

Still, great line! 🙂

Because they don’t think women are people. They think we’re malfunctioning slaves and fuckdolls.
Truth! 😀
@Bina: Nah, it was more “plumbing the depths of the deep freeze for that package of venison you’re certain is in there = hacking a frozen mammoth out of the soil” kind of thing.
Mad Max, i love how your comment completely ignores that the French newspaper Le Monde has way more visitors than Return of Kings. Beat that, mister non-sequitur!
Wow a man who calls other men who do women’s work, like cooking, manginas……cooks???? Someone should call him out on his mangina-ness
What feminist site wouldn’t be more popular than a site for men’s rights? How could any sane person gloat about this fact? We live in a society which regards any suggestion that men are in need of any rights or indeed empathy for the difficulties and injustices they face as a gender as a joke at best or sign of proof of their hatred for women.
I find it remarkable that AVFM is gaining as much traffic as it is given the society we live in.
This fact is borne out time and again in our mainstream media when hundreds of schoolboys were massacred by Boko Haram these atrocities were never given any mainstream coverage. Yet when 200 girls were kidnapped the world went into meltdown mode. Troops were sent in and the UN declared it a crime against humanity.Selfies and the twittersphere broke records with people falling over themselves to show how much they cared about the girls while the bodies of the dead boys rotted in their graves.
Women like Sharon Osbourne can gleefully celebrate the vicious genial mutilation of a man by his wife on a national Talk Show in front of a cackling, cheering female audience and not face suspension or the sack for such sickening bigotry. A male sports commentator says women shouldn’t hit men as a way of ensuring they won’t get hit in returnand he is suspended from his show and called an advocate for violence agaisnt women.
This is the culture we live in.
Of course you would get more traffic. You are right-no-one give a shit about men.
Congratulations.
I’d like to think that I’ve contributed to your traffic. Every time someone angrily posts a RoK link, I post a link to here.
If your site gets lots of traffic, it’s a sign that you are right.
If your site gets no traffic, it’s a sign that you are right.
