#gamergate I am making a joke

Hey Milo: I'll publish your #GamerGate book!

Actually designed by Tulgey Logger to replace mine, which I removed because #GamerGaters are more terrible than I had realized (see note at end of post)
Book cover designed by Tulgey Logger. I removed my original book cover design because #GamerGaters are more terrible than I had realized (see note at end of post)

The We Hunted the Mammoth Pledge Drive continues! If you haven’t already, please consider sending some bucks my way. (And don’t worry that the PayPal page says Man Boobz.) Thanks!

As you may have heard, #GamerGate booster and alleged journalist Milo Yiannopoulos is writing a book! About #GamerGate!

Looking through his announcement of this project, though, I didn’t notice any mention of an actual publisher. Nor did I see one mentioned on Twitter. So unless I’m missing something, it appears Mr. Y hasn’t yet lined up a publisher.

So let me make this offer: MILO — I WILL PUBLISH YOUR BOOK.

I know we haven’t always seen eye to eye on all issues in the past — or on any issues, actually — but I’m willing to set that aside and I hope you are too. Because I think this is a great opportunity for both of us.

Granted, I am not, strictly speaking, a book publisher. But I do live within walking distance of a UPS Store with two xerox machines and a working stapler. And I’ve already designed a book cover as a sign of my good faith.

I can’t give you a big advance, but frankly, with #GamerGate losing steam by the hour, I can’t imagine any real publisher will either. I do promise you a portion of any profits I make from the book, less my standard fees and the usual allowance for cat food and other cat-related expenses. Plus another 40% to cover the exasperation of having to work with you, which I can’t imagine is pleasant for anyone. And another 10% for whatever.

So how about it? In all honesty, I don’t think you’re going to get a better offer than this.

Have your people contact my cats, and let’s get this train rolling!

NOTE: If any of you think you can design a better book cover than I have, please post it in the comments below.

NOTE 2: My original book cover design used a title I borrowed from a #GamerGate meme. I have been informed that the phrase was a reference to a rape joke, because, of course, #GamerGaters are terrible shits who think rape jokes are funny. So I took it down.

Beloved had this theory that whoever controlled scheduling on MTV in the late nineties used a dartboard. Around the edge were hip shows like Real House Rules, but the bullseye was split between “music videos” and “Daria.”

I dunno, Daria, I don’t think hiding is going to stop John F. Kennedy from chatting you up. Go look for an adult.

@Lea:

“What do they think that is, if not misogyny? That’s some hateful, twisted bullshit. It’s not just wrong. We need a new word for how wrong that is. It’s wrongerer. It’s the wrongestest?”

The wrongestest, yes.

I am always amazed by the virulent misogynists’ flat out denials of their misogyny. It is hard to comprehend how one can say the most contemptuous and hateful things about women and deny that’s it’s misogynist when confronted with it (and not).

But I guess that’s how denial — of one’s own hateful and bigoted nature, in this case — works. It “helps” not to perceive those whom one so hates as human beings. Objectification of others is indeed the root of all evil.

I don’t think we can change these people’s minds, since hatred cannot be reasoned with; but they and their hateful views can and should be opposed.

P.S. The artistic creations on this thread are supremely enjoyable, as is the earnest plight of Luigi a.k.a Sir Bodsworth Rugglesby III for gates in games. I agree it is time to put an end to needless deaths caused by the lack of gates in games. Enough is enough.

Don’t know if I should post this here but there is nowhere else I can.

So David here is something I came across on Kotaku. It’s about a game called Hatred which is still in a quantum state as to whether it gets released. But someone in the comment section at Kotaku posted something from the forums at the Hatred Greenlight page before it was taken down. The forums that is. I’m sure it was worse if I could have seen the whole thing.

The game is about killing, just killing and for context the pic is referring to people they would love to get a hold of in the game if they could.

Here is the Kotaku article url followed by my Imgur pic of the one in the comments. You can scroll down the Kotaku section if you want to see where it’s at. They aren’t supportive of it, but who knows how many are.

@paradoxicalintent

Considering what happens to the guy shortly afterward, I don’t think you can really make a big deal of the prosthetic leg thing. Also, it was pretty well established that Rocket was a sadist and all around not nice guy. He is exactly the sort of raccoon who would find that funny.

I’m not sure which female character you’re lamenting was put aside/killed for the hero. It was an ensemble hero group and I thought they did a great job of giving each of the main characters time to shine.

Also, the movie did pass the bechdel test. Even without the deleted scene. Go check out the bechdel test site.

Ah, I see. I have to admit, I was rather tired when I wrote that and when I watched the movie, so somethings might have flown over my sleepy lil’ head. : P

Though, I’m still staying irked by the whole Rocket issue. Being a sadist is fine, but there were plenty of ways he could have been a sadist to that particular individual without contriving a way to take away his leg and then laughing about how he would “hop around” afterwards. Even if the guy did die later. It’s still not really excusable at all, IMO. I just don’t like people specifically using a disabled person’s disability to fuck with them, if that makes any sense.

————————-

As for Hatred: Yeah, that game shouldn’t exist. That’s the epitome of what outside media viewed games as in the 90’s. That’s one of the many reasons why the gaming community is having to struggle to get any respect from the outside. We have so many perfectly rectangular shit-baskets like these guys making it worse for us all.

And the fact that the creators are like “Yeah! We’re so edgy and controversial!” just makes me wanna vomit from all the pseudo-edge. How fucking old are you, devs? Because I swear you must not be old enough to remember what it was like in ye olde days.

I read through the comments on the article linked, and I have to admit, the amount of people crying censorship is both not surprising and staggering. “Steam won’t sell a game that’s a serial murder fantasy?! SENSEOARSHIP!” (Though there are the people out there who said it was just Steam using their right to stock what they want, and they give me hope, even if they were “countered” by people who cried “SLIPPERY SLOPE!”)

And OF COURSE some people want to add Anita Sarkeesian DLC. It’s not enough that she gets death threats and rape threats on the regular and was forced from her home, now they want ANOTHER game where they can inflict violence on her. (There was a flash game where you could punch her in the face repeatedly, complete with bruises and blood)

Unfortunately hatred seems to be back up on greenlight

I’m hoping that it just coincidentally never gets approved (greenlight upvotes alone don’t get something on steam) or that if it does, has Bad Rats level of overall quality (which is a barely functional mess of a game and is only purchased on sale for a quarter in order to annoy your friends by gifting it to them)
