From time to time I like to check in on the Facebook page for A Voice for Men, to see how that eminent men’s human rights organization’s program to advance the human man rights of human men through badly designed and even more poorly conceived graphic “memes” is going.
Well, I can report that this program is going, and going, and going, a bit like a famous battery-powered bunny.
Looking through them today, I couldn’t help but notice the weird sexual undertones — and overtones — of many of the memes, and realized that, while none of the memes tell us much about the world, they do, in an altogehter accidental way, offer some pretty interesting insights into the ids of those making and “liking” them on Facebook.
You don’t have to be a trained psychoanalyst to see the not-very-well-hidden straight male sexual insecurities that lie behind a large number of AVFM’s memes — both the ones they create themselves and the others that seem to have arrived on the AVFM page after being forwarded via email from someone’s cranky misogynistic uncle. Let’s take a look at some of them.
1) AVFMers have apparently convinced themselves that the history of mankind is the story of nice guys being nice to snooty women who won’t date them.
2) The straight men who make up the bulk of AVFM’s audience are pretty much terrified of women.
3) A lot of these guys seem to really enjoy fantasizing about women being forced into crappy jobs and/or sex work.
4) One of AVFM’s meme makers, the fellow who goes by the name of “John Galt,” has trouble distinguishing between the real world and certain (perhaps unacknowledged) sexual fetishes he appears to be a little obsessed with.
5) Straight cis male AVFMers hate fat women who don’t please their boners, and are angry at feminists for convincing at least some fat women not to hate themselves.
6) These AVFMers evidently prefer women who are very young, very thin, and photoshopped into anatomically implausible proportions and positions. But they simultaneously hate these women for giving them boners.
8) AVFMers really, really hate male feminists — and pretty much every man who doesn’t hate and fear women like they dO — and not-very-subtly project their own sexual insecurities onto them.
9) They also really, really, really hate me.
But I think that’s probably because they’re jealous that I have that second pair of arms.
I thought Men Going Their Own Way were actually striving to GO THEIR OWN WAY, far from the rest of humanity. Now it seems that they are just guys who want to have sex with faceless shopped nymphets.
Is this a poster condemning prostitution? I’m confused.

And how about Sir Walter Oh-Really there? Even by their standards, that meme is pitiful. Last I looked, precisely NO women were walking on men’s coats over mud puddles, anywhere, ever.
And Jaws’ hubby there isn’t exactly an impressive specimen, is he?
AVFMorons…going their own way since NEVER. And making us all wish they bloody well would, just once in their miserable pathetic lives.
What, riding bears? Definitely, but at each level there’s something more awesome than just a bear to ride. At first level, there’s the Crocodile of Intersectionality; at 7th level there’s the Tiger of Smashing the Oppressive Social Order; and at higher levels there are various Theropod Dinosaurs of Bodily Acceptance.
Lots of Druids don’t bother with animal companions; they’re just allies, after all.
And anyway with mud puddles, couldn’t you just walk around them?

I notice the “Feminazi” is wearing a Soviet uniform. Is this an intentional “cultural Marxistm” dig, or do they just fail at Geopolitical History? Judging from #1, they’re not that good at the factual stuff.
Can’t make sense of #1 at all, at least not the “feminist history” image. Are they saying we embellish the biographies of US presidents for some reason?
I like that for “actual history” they picked an anecdote of C16th English court toadyism that almost certainly never really happened, either then or since.
I actually encountered a RedPiller in the wild today (BTL on a Facebook group’s post) saying he couldn’t wait for the artificial uterus, because women expect men to pay for everything. Dude was faaar down the Men’s Rights rabbithole.
I feel like the story about Raleigh and the mud puddle was always just a joke about Raleigh… “Oh, he’s so chivalrous he’d even lay down his own coat to prevent Elizabeth’s dainty shoes from getting dirty.” And then it’s just continued to be a joke ever since.
MRAs, being jokes themselves, thus immediately assume this was a real thing and totes misandry.

See, I thought that was the core of the MRA claim, that men are expected to sacrifice, financially and sartorially, a significant amount for a minimal benefit to women, and so the cloak and mud puddle was, for once, concise and exact.
What strikes me whenever I see these memes is how little these dudes understand the underlying concepts they are ostensibly critiquing.
#3: is it only “women’s studies” majors that have trouble getting jobs? Anyway, as a college professor, I have troubling believing that students that go into what we usually call gender and sexuality studies (used to be women’s studies) think they will get a specific job related to that field. Many also do literature, psych, some business or communications related discipline. The gender studies field gives insight into various aspects of being human as well as media, business and so on.
I guess the sex worker trying to go to MIT is actually supposed to mean “wimminz is only good for teh sex; durr stoopid wimminz thinking they iz good at science”.
#4: where to start with all those male identities. Are “jail” and “alimony” identities? Anyway, I just love that there seems to be some Feminazi out there handing out these negative identities. It really shows that they can’t conceive of feminists who actually like men and have positive experiences. Yes, there are all sorts of douchey dudes like there are all kinds of women who are jerks.
#5: I like that they can’t distinguish between cruelty to animals and self-determination. I know this is supposed to be “stoopid fat bitches don’t deserve to live because they iz unattractive to me”, but this shows that they conceive of women as objects whose primary function is to make men happy and give them boners. They totally miss the “empowering” part, that women should feel good about themselves no matter what size they are. For all we know, that woman has some illness that makes her gain weight. She might not care about her size but be healthy. Is she any less deserving of common decency? Should she not be able to make decisions for herself.
Okay, ‘nuf said. The memes are mind-boggling stupid but they do give us a glimpse at how poorly these guys perceive reality.

Who knew? Every man’s dream is to be a single father. Part of me also looks forward to the artificial uterus so that they can get a taste of how difficult single parenting is. A larger part of me knows that no child deserves an MRA/red piller for a parent. Particularly if he is the sole caregiver.
I suppose what they really want though is to have a child that is biologically and legally all theirs because they like the idea of ownership over their children and they like the idea of their DNA being propagated. But not liking the idea of the work and obligation involved with child rearing, they will probably try and find vulnerable and easy to exploit women to marry who will raise their kids but have no rights in the event of a divorce.
The irony of this being so similar to their laments about women supposedly getting pregnant with alpha male’s babies and tricking some poor beta sap into helping her raise the child will be entirely lost on them.
