PLEDGE DRIVE: Extremely furry operators are standing by edition

Operators are standing by
Operators are standing by

Today marks the beginning of the Fourth Quarter 2014 We Hunted the Mammoth Pledge Drive! Which is another way of saying “several days in which I beg you all for money.”

To repeat my simple pitch from my previous pledge drives: If you enjoy this blog, and can afford it, please click on the “donate” button below and send a few bucks my way. Or, if you’d prefer, a lot of bucks. You don’t need a PayPal account; credit cards are accepted, and there are other options as well. If you’re outside the US, PayPal will automatically convert your weird non-American money into American bucks.

Oh, and the PayPal page will say you’re donating to Man Boobz; don’t panic! That’s just the old name of the blog.

As always, your donations are all greatly appreciated, whatever size they are. They keep me, the cats, and this blog going. And thanks to all of those who donate between pledge drives as well! Some of you are really going above and beyond, and it means a lot to me.

While I’m at it, I should point out that I also greatly appreciate all the non-monetary things you all do to support the blog , from contributing smart and funny comments, designing graphics, sending me tips on stuff to write about, sharing posts on Twitter and Facebook, moderating comments, and so on.

This past quarter has been the biggest quarter ever for We Hunted the Mammoth; over the past three months, the site has averaged more than a million page views per month. And the total number of comments left since the blog began is approaching half a million. No, really. Thanks, everyone!

Well, except the trolls.

Thank-You-Glitters-12

I donated 12 dollars and will do so each month ’til I decide not to. That ought to cover a few cans of Fancy Feast and maybe a beer.

‘Weird non-American money’?!!! I will have you know that as of this moment the Loonie is worth $0.88USD. I mean, 0.875. Uh, 0.874. 0.87. 0.856.

Nevermind, I’ll use PayPal.

Sorry that I’m always too broke to donate. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to.

I’m just glad you’re not like Paul Elam telling his readers they’re horrible if they donate their grocery money to AVFM.

I come here several times a day(!) so it was the least I could do. I can only afford $5, but I hope LOTS of people send you $5 each.

I want to announce that it appears that the everyday Sexism Project has been hacked. I wonder if this would make a worthy article (as I can have a good guess as to who hacked it and why) – if Laura Bates can be contacted. It would appear that a spoof site has been set up instead.

Ellesar: If I click that link, my antivirus blocks the page and says it was reported as attempting to install malware on visitors’ computers.

It’s been a heavy week, so I could only put in $5 (hey, that’s $6.25 in REAL money) but I’ll try to top it up again later.

It’s weird with the everydaysexism link; Ellesar mentioned the other day getting a malware warning, but some people are getting one and others aren’t. AVG didn’t seem bothered by it.

Yes, I am either getting malware or offline about everyday sexism. Sorry if I am cracking on about it too much, but I am getting mightily irked about the stifling of Freeze Peach, which is the ONLY way I am interpreting what has happened.

OTOH the fact that the existence of that site infuriated someone so badly that they just had to take it down is kind of hilarious. Petulant much, dudes?

I am wondering a little about the timing, as the ‘author’ of the site was on Women’s Hour this morning (Radio 4 Brit radio. Serious/establishment channel) talking about how she was inspired to start the site, and what positive developements it’s led to.

Sent some of that weird European money your way. Hope you can afford all the necessities and maybe something nice for you and your cats :3
