GamerGaters sure do love their Based Mom! Christina Hoff Sommers, as you may or may not know, is a libertarian think-tanker who’s been grinding away at feminism for two decades, while still, rather perversely, claiming to be feminist. Though not a video gamer herself, she’s jumped aboard the GamerGate train, and GamerGaters have repaid her interest in their little crusade with interest, anointing her their “Based Mom” and talking about her with weird reverence.
That is, when they’re not making creepy fan art about her. Today, five of the most disturbing examples I’ve found so far.
1) Virgin Based Mom, in which an old publicity shot of Sommers is pasted onto a picture of the Virgin Mary to very creepy effect.
2) Based Waifu, in which Sommers is reinvented as an anime character.
3) Mass Effect Mom, in which Sommers becomes a Space Marine.
4) Whatever the hell this is.
5) Perfect Mom. And last but certainly not least, this tweet. No image manipulation here, just a guy expressing his opinion about a women. His really, really creepy opinion.

BONUS: The world’s most annoying Christina Hoff Sommers animated gif. Sommers finishes her ironically titled “Factual Feminist” YouTube videos, which are neither factual nor feminist, with an annoyingly contrived tagline: “Check your facts, not your privilege.” Now you can watch her smugly repeat this phrase over and over without end. Which is, I think, the very definition of hell.

The annoying thing about gamer haters using ‘based’ is that lil b is actually a pretty nice dude. He’s a very positive guy, or at least he is on twitter and fb. Seems like a sweetie and not at all the type of guy to be pro gg.
So… just to honor her own thoughts about feminism, I bet she doesn’t vote, or drive, or own a credit card with her name on it, or do any of the things women can now do because feminists have fought for it through time, right? I bet she even likes being told to “go back to the kitchen”.

This is somehow creepier than Vivian James, and that takes some doing.
It’s interesting that cultures who put a woman on a pedestal don’t necessarily have any respect for women, in fact it can mean precisely the opposite. Like the original virgin mary the act of putting them on a pedestal is really a way of putting women in their place.
Based Waifu Mom is the worst. At first, it just seemed creepy, but the more I look at it, the more it seems like she’s planning something really evil or is contemplating something sadistically delightful. It doesn’t look pleasant and maternal; it looks like she enjoys the fact that someone is getting murdered right in front of her.

Based as I get it means ‘not a gamer’; following Gamergate’s narrow definition of what gamers are. For example, Cernovich is “based lawyer” because he’s not a gamer but he will stalk Zoe Quinn with PIs anyway. Following the template; Milo Yianpopulous is ‘based journalist’ and Roosh V is ‘baste rapist’. Basically anybody jumping onto gamergate for the money despite having zero interest in games gets the “based” epithet.
I kind of like Vivian James when she’s not being used by goobergators. When she is, it’s unpleasant and gross in all the ways GG is unpleasant and gross, but at least they managed to find something likable in all that iconographic dross. The strange fixation on her, or randomly giving her gigantic breasts just because, are strikingly weird though. My favorite image of VJ is her leading the gamers away from some city, as though she were Moses leading the Jews away from Egypt. Hilarious.

The irony is that she is a feminist because she is a woman stating her opinion on something online (a public space) that is only a very small fraction on what feminism truly is.
Btw guys I had a debate on facebook with someone who called MRA’s the ‘r’ word you know retarded because they’re misoygnists. And then another person came in and said that they certainly do have a mental problem they’re pyschos. And I said that we shouldn’t compare them to people who do have real mental conditions.
I don’t know am I being too sensitive or politically correct? What should have I said? This was awhile ago I don’t why I didn’t ask you guys sooner but I just wanted an opinion so in case I come across something like this again.
