This somewhat alarming video was recently posted in Reddit’s GamerGhazi subreddit. It features Sarkeesian Effect co-creator Jordan Owen explaining, at some length, his disagreements with antiporn feminist Gail Dines over the book Fifty Shades of Grey. (Dines, you see, was Owen’s previous obsession, before he discovered Anita Sarkeesian; this video is a couple of years old.) Alas, the sound cuts out about halfway through the nearly hour-long video, so you won’t get to hear the whole thing.
You might also be slightly distracted by the fact that Owen delivers this lengthy critique while sitting naked in a bathtub.

Fribs is much the same at the vet. She just goes paralytic. I didn’t have too much difficulty injecting her at home; she’s small and frail and doesn’t put up much of a fight (easiest cat in the world to pill, thank goodness). But she did get to the point of squirming and jumping down, and that said enough. Plus, having to do umpteen injections a day (it would have been fifteen if I’d done as many as the vet said) was just too much to ask of her; and if I get a job, I wouldn’t be home to do them anyway.
I’d hoped to get the tuna flavoured Hills k/d diet, but it isn’t shipped to Australia. I tried her on the Royal Canin but turned up her nose at it. Dine Senior it is, then … Mind you, she’s 19, so I’m not stressing wildly about extending her life, just seeing that she’s happy for whatever time she has here.
Last time I took Pan to the vet, the vet tech had to untangle his tail from the wires near the computer station because he’d gone exploring over their with his tail at full-mast. Repeatedly.
He also gave her nose kisses.
He’s not the most picky cat in the world when it comes to people.
I would post pictures of my fur-free kids, but they’re at ages where picture taking is unwelcome (seventeen and thirteen).

Jody – that reminds me of a conversation I had with a Second Wave feminist back in university*. She was explaining with glacial condescension that all porn – full stop, no exceptions – degraded women. I pointed out that the porn I consumed (and produced) had no women in it. “There is *always* a feminized partner,” she countered. I have always remembered that conversation.

as i know you know, a non-trivial quantity of male gay porn depicts the penetrating partner as active, and the receptive partner as passive and needy. it’s obviously wrong to claim that all male gay porn conforms to this pattern, but this is what Long Ago Feminist was probably talking about: the conception that people who penetrate are active (actors) and people who are penetrated are passive (objects). this is a societal meme that does harm women.
@Irene, @kittehserf I am so sorry to hear about your kitties. I just lost my sweet kitty, Bones, last week to kidney failure (his picture is my icon). My heart is still very heavy, but his brother has suddenly started giving me tons of kitty love, so he is making me feel better. I do hope you and your kitties are able to get through this. My vet has been a great comfort in that we know we did everything we could for Bones. I sincerely hope things turn out better for the both of you and your kitties and you get to spend more time with them.
So a feminist had a negative opinion of porn once and you’re still butthurt about it thirty years later. And we’re supposed to be sympathetic?
Leaving aside the validity of the difference between gay and het porn (I don’t know enough to comment), the fact that you felt the need to defend your own porn consumption/production against the meaniepants sex-hating second waver is pretty much the standard male response when confronted with anti-porn opinions. Just saying.

Yup. Extra toes for extra cute! She’s a fast runner and an amazing climber, so obviously her supersize mitts don’t slow her down in the least. I’ve actually seen her climb right to the top of that screen door in a flash. If she would only stay up there long enough for me to get a picture… (le sigh)
She is! Although there’s not a mean bone in her. She was actually padding her paws in the screen door when I took the picture. Like, as in purring on somebody’s lap, only vertically.
