#GamerGate's new theme song is possibly the worst thing unleashed on the internet since, well, #GamerGate

Brace yourself, because there’s really no way to prepare you for how terrible this song is.

The lyrics are a bit difficult to figure out using, you know, your ears, so watch this in fullscreen mode so you can read them.

And no, this isn’t a joke. It’s a serious song made by serious #GamerGaters on 8chan. See this thread, or the GamerGareSings Twitter, for more details.

They are hard at work on more of these.  A lot more. Here are a couple of works-in-progress. Put them in your ears if you dare.

Do they have a GamerGate version of Bohemian Rhapsody? Why yes, they do.

Do they have one dedicated to their imaginary girlfriend, Vivian James? Why yes, they do.

Wash all of this out of your brain with some awesome music from Kiss!

If only Kiss really did sound like this. If only the GamerGaters sounded like this!

Early in the thread she was described as /v/’s sister, but other people decided she should be /v/’s daughter to try to stem some of the tide of porn.

Because her merely being their sister wouldn’t have had a chance at stemming that grossness. Not exactly surprising given how mainstream little sister fetishes have become in otaku-oriented media these days.

And yeah, some people do actually take reviews that seriously. Outside of gamergate even. Wasn’t there numerous hissy fits about some games like GTA V being rated lower due to sexism, and they demanded the scores be raised? Happened to a couple other games as well.

The really idiotic thing? That GTA review Gators got so mad over gave it 9/10. The reviewer just happened to mention some of the sexist portrayal of women in the game as well. For this, there was a lot of “OMG it’s part of the franchise of course there’s sexism y u no ignore it and tell us how it plays?!”

Because remember kids, saying it’s fine to have half-naked women whose only purpose is to act as eye candy for the player is TOTES NOT A POLITICAL POSITION, but commenting on that portrayal is SJW censorship, like they did in Feminazi Germany. Or something.

@kittehserf Absolutely. I’m afraid I get a bit overzealous sometimes.

I… Did they really just make a song with the voice of the villain to support their position of… Harassing people? The song was all okay with harassing people.

Nowhere is there any actual content. Just haha, we baited you. WTF.

I believe the reviewer in question was Leigh Alexander, the same woman who wrote the “Gamers are dead” article about developers no longer needing to cater to the asshole manbabies.
So , really no big surprise that they threw a shitfit over the review (and sending her threats over it, IIRC). It was a woman having an opinion they disagree with, after all. I mean, what was she expecting?!? /sarcasm

Damn, blockquote got removed…
Everything from the beginning until after the italics part was supposed to be quoted

I have encountered this in direct conversation. A GamerGater told me that games (he later extended it to all art) cannot be political (he then walked that back when called on it), then said that the aesthetics are not as important as the system and controls.

…And then when you demo a game without any graphics to focus on whether the system and controls are worth bothering, they whine about how shoddy the work-up is. Glahagh…

Actually it was Carolyn Petit who was almost harangued out of the industry for giving a GTA:V a “negative” review (though Alexander may well have critiqued it too.) Scare quotes on “negative” because she actually gave it 9/10, docking only one point because she thought the female characters were grossly underdeveloped compared to the male ones. This was literally the apex of FEMINISTS PUSHING THEIR AGENDA ONTO OUR VIDYA for a small subsection of gamers, who promptly started a petition trying to get her fired.

That’s right. Gamers literally tried to get a reviewer fired because she didn’t give an AAA title a perfect score. CAN YOU EVEN WITH ALL THESE ETHICS!?

Stuff like that blows my mind, but for another reason.

From spending random amounts of time around random gaming communities*, I know for a fact that there’s plenty of douchebags who do nothing but complain (rightly or wrongly) about AAA companies/games, sometimes even including bad ethics (and heaven forbid if you admit to liking an AAA game.. slurs, slurs everywhere). But… where are they all when this stuff is happening?

You’d think they’d take the opportunity to tackle said ethical issues and/or (at the very least) get one over on AAA companies/games (and fans of said games) that they so dislike, but it’s like they suddenly vanish into thin air or close ranks with the douchebags they’d normally be slinging slurs at.

I’d love to see the two groups of asshats going up against each other, maybe it would distract them for a bit, but obviously douchery>ethics.

*I know, I know, I must hate myself.

Went through some of troll’s links and they would be damaging if I believed they were true. If Rebecca Watson and Zoe Quinn really were releasing people’s names and places of work then I would say, yeah, that would be the same as GGs releasing feminist’s names and places of work.

Of course, maybe the answer here is that you shouldn’t do illegal things online and expect that you will remain anonymous and protected behind your computer screen. (I’m looking at you female Dr. who said P.J. Myers has an STD.)

D’oh, you’re right. I guess I just defaulted to Leigh Alexander cause Jonathan Mann turned her review into a really catchy song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HZ21Lsw5WE

She did give it a 9.7 out of 10 though, still totally censorship though, I am sure.

(How horrible is it that when someone says that a woman in the games industry was harassed because she dinged a few points from a review for being sexist, you don’t know who they’re talking about because it applies to so damn many women?)

Wait, are you implying that is not what ethics means? I thought it meant only ever writing what dudebros want to hear?
