Well, if I was in any doubt that I have GERD, I’m not now. Been taking Nexium for about a fortnight, and missed it last night. Been fine since I started on it. Today it’s hello, hint of heartburn returning!

I’m glad the Nexium is working for you, kittehserf! Miracle drug, I tell ya!

It certainly is! I hope I don’t have to be on it long-term, though.

There is no limit to the miserly depths to which our current govt will not sink.

Two 90+ years old WW2 vets were invited to lunch on Friday with the Prime Ministers of Australia and Britain as part of Armistice Day observances. They were also told they had to pay their own way to and from Perth and their accommodation and expenses in Canberra.

Fortunately, public generosity made up for the government meanness. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-11/brothers-offered-flight-to-attend-lunch-in-their-honour/5881824

Fuck Abbott and all his crew.

Did you see the picture of Abbott and Obama on the front of the Hun this morning? Looks for all the world like Obama’s cocking his thumb at Fuckawful Tone and saying “You’re kidding me, right? You have compulsory voting and this guy still got into office?”

Hi WHTMers! I have missed you guys so much. Been going through some struggles, so couldn’t do much online. Hope everybody is doing great. Can’t wait to read all the amazing and funny commentary.

marci, great to see you again! Hope things are better for you. Struggles are no fun.

Can I get some well wishes? I am having surgery on the 21st. I thought I was chill about it, but apparently I’m not. I’m getting nervous and upset about it and for no good reason (it’s not major surgery by any light).

PoM:

All the well wishes you need. Even minor surgeries can be scary, so you being nervous is totally not “for no good reason”.

I’m sure that your docs know what they’re up to, and I hope all goes well. I will be sending you imaginary ‘heal-fast’ bouquets and pillow hugs, as needed.

PoM: That sounds like a very reasonable cause to be nervous. I will give an imaginary hand-squeeze.

Hi, marci!

PoM, lots of well-wishes from Mr K and me (I’d say the kitties too, but you know what kitties are like). Seconding contraplgloss’s words!

Leaving some well wishes for Policy of Madness, and more in the barrel!

Surgery is a good reason to be nervous, PoM, so you’re not even close to being silly.

All the best wishes!

Thanks everyone! It’s not a major surgery but they’re doing conscious sedation, which I’ve had before and I did not react well. So I’m nervous. I really appreciate all the good thoughts anyone can give me. Y’all are the best!

Do they know conscious sedation caused trouble for you last time, PoM?

Extra hugs from us, with bonus kitty furs.

No, but I am supposed to meet with the anesthesiologist on the 17th for preop? I don’t know why an anesthesiologist needs to be there for conscious sedation, but apparently there will be one and I will be meeting that person. I’ll bring it up then.

It’s an interaction with something I take for bipolar (probably the seroquel). Last time it took me about four days to get my shit sorted back out.

FWIW, I think it’s good that an anaesthesiologist is involved. Always better to have an extra set of specialist hands around!

Well, an anesthesiologist means more cost. Fortunately my parents are bankrolling the surgery for me. LOL I have to pay them back but at least I don’t need to come up with the cash for it today.

You know, I mentioned to my doctor that I have SVT. Maybe that’s why they want an anesthesiologist.

SVT would do it, PoM! Also, sorry about the cost thing. My privilege is showing, as I forget that not everyone has the same health care as Canucks (all praise Tommy Douglas).

I actually have pretty decent insurance. I just don’t have a decent bank account right now.
